Feeling rubbish and it’s only been 4 days but a bit done tbh. I’ve been vaccinated too.

DH is still testing positive 10 days after first positive test, day 11 of covid (if day 1 of symptoms is day 0). We had to cancel Christmas with my parents and then cancel the rearranged day tomorrow, and may have to cancel seeing his family on Friday at this rate 😔

Lelophants · 27/12/2023 21:44

Much better than my poor unvaccinated husband thank goodness. :)

Funny because everyone I know that got vaccinated is constantly unwell and has had covid several times

Crikeyalmighty · 27/12/2023 22:44

@EggCurls absolutely- we are off to Sweden with my 84 year old FIL on Friday- I also have neuro issues from long covid. My H quite rightly most certainly wanted to try and prevent us both getting it from him -

CrackSpackle · 27/12/2023 22:49

I tested positive for two weeks.

TeaWithASplashOfMilk · 27/12/2023 23:31

'Funny because everyone I know that got vaccinated is constantly unwell and has had covid several times'

So you do know people that still test? Why the bizarre comment earlier then? Clearly both the unvaccinated and vaccinated people you know test- and inform you personally of their results - so that you know exactly who has and hadn't had covid.

Lol at people still testing. Vaccinted as well. How are those vaccines working out for you?

The vaccine doesn't stop you from getting it. It just lessens the severity of it

LOL at not understanding how vaccines work.

Both my parents have Stage 4 Cancer and are terminal. Is that LOL?

Some people have to test and don't have. A choice. We don't want to be responsible for putting our family members into an even earlier grave.

Let's hope you never have to experience something like that! You won't be fucking laughing out loud then!

TopBitchoftheWitches · 28/12/2023 05:29

I tested positive yesterday. I work in care and I care about my service users and would rather they didn't get unwell.

I've been ill for a few days with a cold but it was the horrendous sore throat I had that made me test. I can't eat at the moment due to it.

All in all not feeling too bad but where does all the snot come from? So much of it !

VictoriasSponges · 28/12/2023 11:21

@Lelophants DH tested pos last Friday (but was probably infectious for 2 days at least prior to that.) He was still showing pos yesterday- Day 6 after pos test.

The medical stats say that someone can be contagious for up to 14 days after a pos test but most people (80%) won't pass it on after 7-10 days.

VictoriasSponges · 28/12/2023 11:22

@NotAllowed My DH is Stage 4 Cancer. On treatment that affects his immune system. Boosted more than everyone and still got it this week.

Christmas holidays getting boring, are they? Never mind, you'll be back at school soon.

NYE2023 · 30/12/2023 01:31

I tested positive 4 weeks ago , about 6 weeks after my XBB ( the new one ) booster . It was much better for me than my first bout - I felt wretched then and had long Covid symptoms ( fatigue , muscle aches etc. For over a year ). This time I tested negative 5/6 days after my symptoms appeared ( last time it was 10 days) and so far so good .

i would recommend anyone who can, get a booster ( XBB) . Covid really isn’t a cold - 1/10 infections will lead to long Covid .

hope you feel better soon .

Shouldershoulder · 30/12/2023 02:37

I tested positive yesterday and feel pretty ropey , I haven't had it before.

rickyrickygrimes · 30/12/2023 06:59

I’ve had Covid four times. I don’t test again after testing positive. The official guidance where I am is that the contagious period lasts for 5 days after the first appearance of symptoms or after testing positive, whichever is earliest. You can test positive long after the contagious period has passed.

dragonpen · 30/12/2023 12:18

Five days is not the end of being infectious for everyone - lots of people are still infectious after that, and testing positive on a lateral flow test is a sign you almost certainly are infectious.

Five days is just a compromise that's supposed to catch most of the infectious people, without affecting business and activity too much by people isolating for longer.

PCR tests were different - on those you could still get a positive long after you'd stopped being infectious. But anyone still testing positive on a lateral flow test must have plenty of live virus in their body, because that's what those particular tests react to.

Marmunia10666 · 30/12/2023 17:21

Four days. V mild - stuffy nose and feeling lazy. Unvaccinated.

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/12/2023 17:24

I tested positive Xmas eve and just getting over it. Today is the first day I feel fine, although a bit tired.

Lol at you still trotting out the same old crap years later. Haven't you got a new rabbit hole to fall down?

Desperatelyseekingreason · 30/12/2023 18:03

Tested positive 11 days ago and still positive. Not vaccinated and have been quite unwell as has DH.

To those expressing incredulity at others choosing to test, I assume you have no one vulnerable in your lives that you want to protect but can you not understand that others do?

threefiftysix · 01/01/2024 19:48

@OdeToBarney hi - how is your husband now? When did he get a negative test? Thanks!

OdeToBarney · 01/01/2024 19:50

@threefiftysix he's fine thanks. Finally tested negative after 12 days!

threefiftysix · 01/01/2024 19:51

@OdeToBarney that's good! Wow 12 days though, that's such a long time! I've had symptoms since Saturday but only tested today and got a v dark line straight away.

threefiftysix · 01/01/2024 19:52

@OdeToBarney I don't think I can handle 12 days of this 😔

OdeToBarney · 01/01/2024 19:52

@threefiftysix I'm sorry you're feeling crap. DH was very lucky and really wasn't very unwell at all.
