Anyone thinking about skipping the latest booster?

I've had 3 jabs in total so far, and the last one made me REALLY poorly - couldn't get out of bed for a few days, crazy fever, hallucinating.

They didn't stop me getting Covid, which I've had 2 positive tests for since the first jab, and which was mild compared to how bad I was after the last booster!

I've been invited for the next booster and just can't see why I'd get it. I've had 3 jabs already so must have some protection, right? And since I keep getting it despite the jabs, I'm fairly likely to get it again in the next 6 months whether I do or don't get jabbed?

I can't see the upside.

I'm studying hard for a career change and have 2 little kids. If I had a reaction like last time I'd really struggle to keep all the balls in the air...

I'm being offered the booster because of my high BMI but don't have any co-morbidities, blood pressure good, not pre-diabetic, generally well.

Curious to know what others are thinking?

As we say in these here parts, no such thing as a coincidence...

I think you've answered your own question really, doesn't sound like the right thing for you.
You have to just weigh up and make the decision for yourself. I had the first two jabs only (only because work forced us to) and then I didn't have any boosters despite pregnancy and being strongly advised to have them.

/only because work forced us to/

Seriously, certain disciples here, won't like that one little bit!

It's devastasting for anyone to die in a plane crash, my condolesences to his loved ones.

Absolutely unacceptable to use someone's tragic death to feed their own agenda and conspiracy theories. It happens too much these days. That was a real person with a a life and a family, not ammo for an argument on a forum @theides

So many posters including myself have said a) it's your choice whether you want to get vaccinated or not and b) it's pretty moot at this point given access to boosters is limited @theides

The thing people take issue with is you spamming theads with nonsense about vaccines, trying to terrify people who have already been vaccinated, and coerce those would benefit from a booster out of it. This causes preventable harm.

Targeting MN which has a high propotion of pregnant woman - for whom we know it is safer for them and their babies to have a booster vaccine - is unacceptable.

Yes, and it is evident you do not @theides

Your posts are being deleted because you are posting links to problematic websites that host content including racism and hate speech.

Anyone can look up Robert Malone's patents - I have no idea why you're trying to claim you/him are being censored when he's spamming them all over the internet. It took me 2 seconds to do this

All these patents do is provide further evidence that as others have said, he has made very minimal contributions to this area (and indeed did not even finish his PhD), and there is no reason why he would have been included in the nobel prize.

This thread is all over the place, full of denial and misinformation, Pfizer and other big pharma are refusing to take responsibility for the side effects of its jabs, with the collusion of the American government. People who oppose and campaign against this aberration of natural justice, have been known to come to some unfortunate ends. This latest incident involving the Senator and his family, has produced so much outrage over here, that the insurers are said to be going to call for, if not demand a full federal investigation.

nopuppiesallowed · 04/10/2023 16:50

There was a fascinating section on 'More or Less' radio 4 (you can listen on Catchup') on the completely wrong figures posited by ant vaxxers. John Campbell, a vaccination sceptic, had posted a video on YouTube and had loads of viewings, but has now taken down his video as he's been proved wrong. He'd posted that figures showed that thousands more had died than usual and linked it to the vaccine. The sad fact is that perhaps people decided not to have the vaccination based on his wrong information....

nopuppiesallowed · 04/10/2023 16:52

*Doh...Anti vaxxers not ant vaxxers🙄

thing47 · 04/10/2023 17:06

@Snippysocks I think ant vaccination sounds a much more interesting topic than the same old rubbish being posted on the covid vaccines tbh.

I live with a scientist who works on vaccines (not covid as it happens) and who has a first class Masters in control of infectious diseases. Pretty sure I'm going to continue to take her advice rather than that of some random conspiracy theorist on MN.

Do you have any factual evidence to share?

AIstolemylunch · 05/10/2023 14:10

Yawn. I've had 6 COVID vaccinations including the original Oxford one, Modena and Pfizer. No side effects outside of normal vaccine sore arm and feeling a bit fluey as my immune system reacted. There is no significant problem with side effects of these, or any, commercially produced vaccines outside of the normal background level of adverse side effects that some more succeptible people get, to any medication, all documented and explained. Yawn. Yawn. Yawn.

DivingForLove · 05/10/2023 16:31

@gloria1980 can you elaborate on what happened to the senator?

BoosterTalleyOh · 05/10/2023 21:40

I think I've been somewhat diligent in getting all my Covid shots right from the very start - I'm on my 4th now - what are the special extra 2 that I've missed here to make it up to 6? @AIstolemylunch

Sorry I miscounted, the one I've just had was number 5 not number 6. I think I had an extra one last year as DH is mildly immuno supressed so I got an extra one as household contact Yadda Yadda and then this one just now which I don't think I would have got otherwise as they're not going down to my age this year I don't think.

Immunocompromised had 3 primary vaccines then the 4th was a booster then the following boosters
I had 5 by May 2022 then I had sept 2022, June 2023 and sept 2023 so 8 in total

Danielle9891 · 06/10/2023 00:23

The first two were fine but the third really made me sick. I've never had a reaction to a vaccine before but this left me in bed for days. I was shivering and my bedding was wet right through with sweat. I'm now pregnant and will see my midwife for the first time when I'm 12 weeks and I'm going to turn it down. I'll have the flu vaccine but not a 4th COVID one.

Qilin · 06/10/2023 07:33

I've had 6. Should have had 7.

The first two main ones in early and late spring 2021, followed by an autumn booster in 2021.
Then spring and autumn boosters in 2022.
Due to illness (2 bouts of covid and then pneumonia) I missed this year's spring booster.
Just has this year's Autumn booster.

This debunking video is just wonderful. Dr Dan Wilson (Ph.D. in Molecular Biology) regularly puts out podcasts debunking anti-vax stuff. This one is in reply to Dr Bret Weinstein (an evolutionary biologist, note, not a virologist nor an immunologist) who claims that the Covid vax causes auto-immunity. Here Dr Wilson has 3 experts who show that Dr Weinstein is wrong and doesn't grasp auto-immunity.

Will Bret Weinstein keep his word? Let's find out!

Skipping the 'conspiracy' type stuff, could any of the posters who protect these threads from 'disinformation' post some data that shows that there are not excess deaths way above average these last years, all over the world, collrelating with vaccine roll outs and any recent research that shows the vaccine boosters make it less not more likely to contract Covid please?

48Times11 · 08/10/2023 15:52

I have asthma and a serious auto immune disease. I’m taking everybdamn thing they will
give me. On number 6 now. Covid for me was thankfully mild. I had a 28 year old colleague die first trip around. No known issues that I am aware of. I have a child with autism and a life limiting disability and he has had 3 jabs. I will get as many jabs into
him as they will offer. My closest friend is a Covid denier. I do not care about what choices she makes for herself and she does not care about what decisions I make
for
me and mine. We are still
frienss because we are civilised-and respectful.

@TropicalT

Could any of the posters who spam with misinformation post some data that shows the opposite please? ( skipping 'conspiracy ' type stuff )
