Will C&P the traditional OP in a moment, but it's this which I've been trying unsuccessfully to post for 10 minutes until I caught sight of the post count!

So true, garlic and Quarantino

It seems to be a day for me stumbling across interesting Covid stuff - look at this, wastewater surveillance aficionados, a single person is thought to have been shedding for a year whilst travelling between two Ohio locations!

"Since mid-October, northern China has reported an increase in influenza-like illness compared to the same period in the previous three years."

Considering the comparison period includes the C-19 pandemic, that's very worrying.

China was the canary in the Covid coalmine, frantically trying to warn the world's health authorities but largely ignored. I know some of the officials issuing those warnings have been punished by their government, so I hope the WHO has now managed to establish trustworthy relations and a good information exchange.

Also hoping, of course, that Northern China's respiratory illnesses turn out to be no more than rebound infections by everyday pathogens.

And this outlines what Angela
Maclean told the Covid inquiry today - re lockdown dates among other issues...

@GarlicGrace, not sure why. Showing in other countries too now. One plausible theory is the damage covid does to immune system. Doubt UK will give much of a shit tbh, given how few care about all the other stuff covid does to kids.

Anyone seen this?

@NotReadyForAutumnYet

That's a really concerning read!

NotReadyForAutumnYet · 26/04/2024 00:05

I know. No one mentions the increased excess death rate in kids.

This one shows long covid cases over time, based on the ONS data from last week. x.com/1goodtern/status/1785018532708712476?s=46&t=G9BWOZlYGPa1_pR7aKkbHQ
