Will C&P the traditional OP in a moment, but it's this which I've been trying unsuccessfully to post for 10 minutes until I caught sight of the post count!

So true, garlic and Quarantino

It seems to be a day for me stumbling across interesting Covid stuff - look at this, wastewater surveillance aficionados, a single person is thought to have been shedding for a year whilst travelling between two Ohio locations!

The (pretend) urgency is to scare people into getting the "safe and effective" injections cos no-one wants them any more and there are millions of doses rotting away.

So why are they not offering the autumn booster more widely then ?

JustAnotherRandom · 12/09/2023 08:04

Anyone know why the Zoe app suddenly stopped updating number of cases several days ago?

Interesting that they're including flu this year (not to de-rail thread but I wonder if this is low-key prep for tracking/surveillance of potential bird flu outbreak in people?).

I think its a good idea and a useful tool for those clinically vulnerable to help them make decisions. Zoe shared this info last winter and it was interesting to see the trends in other reperitory viruses along with covid. The link with ths school terms was striking. As someone with primary school age DC, I hope we dont have another winter like last year in terms of illnesses.

JanglyBeads · 02/10/2023 16:02

And the Dashboard is back...

Why no one should believe the Covid hospital admissions data

A new ONS survey is coming: the Winter Covid infection survey. However only using LFTs. It will run this November to March 2024.

Tinysoxxx · 10/10/2023 17:58

The nhs healthcare centre I was in today is looking at bringing in masks in 3 weeks again.

Tinysoxxx · 10/10/2023 17:58

Which sounds good btw

JanglyBeads · 10/10/2023 22:13

Why wait three weeks? Just to prepare?

OP posts:
Tinysoxxx · 10/10/2023 23:39

No idea. Maybe that’s when they predict the cases are obviously so high that it becomes socially acceptable, or the mask cost is lower than the agency workers required to maintain a service.

This is really important information, talking about getting vaccines right, organized by the right people, in the right way.
We need a vaccine that is safe and effective for everyone, instead of accepting that people with preexisting conditions are collateral damage.

Anyone know why this www.mirror.co.uk/news/health/parents-issued-grim-health-warning-31285897 is being published as a new find? It's 3years old! UKHSA has acknowledged covid can hit kids hard. Why the change in messaging - anyone know? Normally it's all excessively downplayed?

JanglyBeads · 28/10/2023 22:31

Well, it says some new research has just been published in the US?

Having said that, I haven't seen any UK Covid scientists highlighting it so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thought it was this one published Dec 2020? ashpublications.org/bloodadvances/article/4/23/6051/474421/Evidence-of-thrombotic-microangiopathy-in-children

JanglyBeads · 29/10/2023 06:50

Apologies, when I first read the article I thought it sad "and this was also published in 2020", I now see that it doesn't.

Don't know why The Mirror's chosen to write about it now then.
