I’ve been poorly since Thursday. A cough that isn’t really a cough in that I have the urge to cough (and I do) but the cough feels shallow and it feels like it would hurt to cough harder.

a very very slight runny nose. Overall tiredness and a feeling of ‘I’m coming down with something but fighting it’. Oh and very thirsty plus a permanent mild sore throat.

No temp I’m aware of.

Sneezing I should say too. The main thing is the sore throat. I had a mild headache.

My mum said she just had a runny nose and felt like a heavy cold.

Whatistheanswer2023 · 11/01/2023 07:43

I’d say it feels persistent. I should just test issues being daughter’s birthday this year and I missed it last year because I had covid. I don’t want to do that again.

overall just not feeling great. Had insomnia too last night which hasn’t helped.

For me it was a bit of sneezing, extremely mild cold symptoms, slight sore throat, muscle aches for a couple of days. Shivery one night.
That was it. Extremely mild.
Worst thing is loss of smell and taste - that came along on day 5 and it’s been total shit. I’m a week into it the loss now and it’s driving my up the wall.

Suzi888 · 11/01/2023 07:58

We all have coughs here, annoying coughs. Not productive, not constant.

No idea if covid or not.
Work colleagues snd school run mums seem to present the same, varying degrees of illness- mild to severe.

Whatistheanswer2023 · 11/01/2023 10:39

Burning feeling in chest now

Have you tested?

TheRookie · 11/01/2023 10:56

I tested positive on Sunday, I had felt a bit meh all weekend with a cough then Sunday night had terrible muscle aches and exhaustion, Monday woke up no sense of smell or taste, freezing cold, body aches, miserable, fever, cough is very chesty now and I have an agonizing sore throat that is red raw, swollen and horrid looking, no appetite, bit of diarrhea. Probably the worst illness I've had for a long while!

My Mum has it too and she is just bad cold symptoms, congested.

DoraSpenlow · 11/01/2023 11:07

Not me but best friend's daughter. Tested positive mid December (NHS). Just felt like a chesty cough to start with but it has seriously affected her breathing and energy levels. She normally runs half marathons and does a Park Run every week but was only this week able to manage a two mile walk very slowly. Still not fit enough to work. Nasty unpredictable virus.

Quizzed · 11/01/2023 11:23

I had a really sore neck, shoulder and upper back, didn't even realise I had covid I thought I pulled a muscle. A couple of days later I got a bit of a runny nose so it was very mild for me this time around.

HaddawayAndShite · 11/01/2023 12:59

I tested this morning as have been poorly and just morbid curiosity as have so far never had it (or been asymptomatic if I did).

Started with aches and pains all over. Chesty cough and blocked sinuses. Only reason I actually thought COVID though was loss of taste and smell. A bit tired too but no worse than a cold for me luckily. I suspect 16 month old has it too as she had a raging fever on Saturday night but it passed within 24 hrs luckily, but other than being a bit grumpy / tired and not eating a lot she doesn’t have any symptoms.

Pennyforthezombies · 11/01/2023 13:54

My symptoms were exactly the same as yours but the day before testing positive I dragging lower back and leg ache.

Rebel2023 · 11/01/2023 14:58

Mine started as a sore scratchy throat, then I sneezed 4 times in a row (I never sneeze!) so tested
After that I had unbelievable pain all over through the night, felt like I had broken all my ribs, legs ached, and tired

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 11/01/2023 15:01

I’ve just had it.

Snotty nose
Exhaustion
Extremely sore throat. Very painful indeed.
Vomiting
Loss of smell and taste
Chesty cough

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 11/01/2023 15:02

Posted too soon…

lasted about 9 days with these symptoms. Still testing positive 2 weeks on from 1st test.

Aardvvark · 11/01/2023 16:15

me, last 2 weeks:
high temp
muscle aches
chills/rigors
sneezing +++
runny nose
slight cough only
loss sense of taste /metallic taste for 3 days
sore red eyes for 2 days

now on day 16- 'just' exhausted and resting most of the day.

my sister- excruciating sore throat, cough, fever.

DH- only a mild cold [of course!]

odd how variable it is.

AlwaysWorriedAboutEverything · 11/01/2023 20:04

Mine has been really mild. I have had headaches and achey joints but I have them anyway so it's nothing unusual. Had a bit of a tickly cough for a few days and a tiny bit breathless. I've been able to do normal stuff like housework etc.

Whatistheanswer2023 · 11/01/2023 20:41

Exhaustion getting to me and insomnia - I mean what’s that all about

OP posts:
containsnuts · 12/01/2023 11:11

None of us had the runny nose, sore throat or classic 'cold' type symptoms. All had fever, body aces and fatigue. For me the fatigue is crippling. Day 9 and no improvement yet.

Raindancer411 · 13/01/2023 00:21

I just tested as I got a bit of a runny nose, blocked nose and bit of a cough, oh and head feels like it's full of cotton wool...

WilsonMilson · 13/01/2023 08:37

Just wondering how long the loss of smell and taste has lasted for everyone? I’m on day 9 now and getting quite freaked out that it’s never coming back. It seems to be worst first thing in the morning when I can smell nothing whatsoever, and slightly better as the day goes on.
All other symptoms have passed now. I feel like I’ve gone a bit obsessed about it as I also started a thread on aibu, and don’t want to bang on about it incessantly, but it’s really affecting me.

Whatistheanswer2023 · 13/01/2023 18:00

Tightness in my chest and it’s all lingering. No not tested yet can’t find a kit. But yeah it probably is from the sound of it. Loss of appetite too. Had to force myself to eat today.

OP posts:
1stevernamechange · 14/01/2023 09:54

I’ve had one positive and one negative test this morning. Feel like I’m full of a cold, sore throat, breathless at the slightest exertion, and really tired. Hoping it goes quickly!

MyNameisMathilda · 14/01/2023 10:04

My H has had the throat thing, the difficulty breathing at times, crackling and whistling noises in lungs, exhaustion, not eating, sweating and freezing. He was told to go to the acute unit by the GP who had no appointments. He tested at home for covid - negative. Sats were bad when he got there - 91% oxygen and heartbeat 100. They did not covid test him. He has been given antibiotics which are helping somewhat but he is still in bed exhausted every day.

MyNameisMathilda · 14/01/2023 10:06

Now that I am reading this further he said he had a sore shoulder and neck.
