I’ve been poorly since Thursday. A cough that isn’t really a cough in that I have the urge to cough (and I do) but the cough feels shallow and it feels like it would hurt to cough harder.

a very very slight runny nose. Overall tiredness and a feeling of ‘I’m coming down with something but fighting it’. Oh and very thirsty plus a permanent mild sore throat.

No temp I’m aware of.

I started with it a few days before Christmas, achy stiff neck, shoulders then four days later got worse, awful headache above eyes and in sinuses, back of skull, stiff neck/shoulders. Very dry slightly scratchy throat. Started turning into a congested feeling but odd like a stuffy nose that came and went, very wooly headed and developed a phlegmy cough could go hours without coughing then have a sudden urge to cough. Sheer exhaustion, some cold, shivery spells. My legs felt wobbly, some dizziness/light-headedness at times. Lost taste and smell, still can't taste some things very well 3wks later Very strong positive test, still positive 2wks later. The lack of energy/stamina still there 3wks on but very slowly getting better every day.

Raindancer411 · 14/01/2023 13:03

@Cyberpixie sounds like ours but my taste and smell is only just going, and hoping it doesn't last long!!

Montgomerymmoose · 14/01/2023 14:25

I tested positive at Christmas . I had achy legs and feet and felt really tired . I had night sweats for a couple of nights .
I didn't have a cough or any cold symptoms . I only tested because I had heard that tiredness could be a symptom and was shocked when it was strongly positive.
If I hadn't got a test kit at home , I don't think I would have tested .

I had been sick with a virus about a month before . I was fully expecting that to be Covid with all the coughing , tight chest and bad cold symptoms . I tested negative throughout .

ThistlyPerf · 14/01/2023 14:46

Started with a slight tickley throat then woke up with voice completely gone. 1st 2 days just sore throat and achey all over, especially back and legs. Full blown heavy cold symptoms on day 3 with loss of taste and smell, oh and earache too.

mac1974 · 14/01/2023 14:49

Snot, slight cough & congestion. No smell or taste. Started 7 days ago faint positive still. I'm tired but don't feel ill to be honest. Precovid I would have just said it's a cold and I'm congested. Wouldn't have thought otherwise if it wasn't for the tests & being responsible due to vulnerable family members.

Vegetablesupreme · 14/01/2023 18:01

Started a week ago today with lack of smell, no appetite and very tired but still managing to do normal stuff with 5yo. Since then have had the following:
Debilitating exhaustion
Breathlessness
Headache
Muscle aches
Pins and needles
Coughing
Blocked/stuffy nose
Hot sweats
These symptoms tended to come and go again. Eg had the headache for 3 days and then it disappeared and didn't return.
I've now spent 6 days in bed, mostly due to the exhaustion which is constant.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 15/01/2023 18:22

Had it at christmas
severe sore throat
sinusitis

lasted around 3 weeks in varying forms

@Cyberpixie sounds like ours but my taste and smell is only just going, and hoping it doesn't last long!!

My taste has only just come completely back 3wks on.
Finally got a negative test today. Still have a phlegmy cough and some fatigue after doing things like changing the bed but day by day it's getting better. It was awful, worse than I was expecting after 4 jabs. Recent one only 2mths before I caught it.

littleburn · 15/01/2023 22:46

I had a very slight, sniffly cold and feeling a bit tired and achy for a couple of days. Didn't test at that point as 'just a cold'. Woke up on Saturday with a migraine that wouldn't shift, awful neck ache and vomiting. Tested just in case and it's positive. No cough and the slight cold has gone, but very tired and a bit breathless walking up stairs today (Sunday) and sense of smell has gone.

Aardvvark · 16/01/2023 10:39

and to add to the cheer this cold Monday morning- now after 3 weeks I am still exhausted and have a cough. It has definitely not yet gone.

Raindancer411 · 17/01/2023 09:40

How is everyone now? I had symptoms start last Tuesday, and a week on I don't feel too bad (anxiety is up though so I do have my panic moments). Mainly at the moment I have a lot of phlegm in my throat (mainly having to cough to clear it a bit but back within moments), feel a bit icky but wonder if that's the phlegm and not much of an appetite.

Other half passed out yesterday so had to have the paramedics to check him over. They put it down to a blood pressure drop as it wasn't long after he got up and feels better than the day before.

Nsws2015 · 17/01/2023 11:16

I've just tested positive this morning, looks like I've caught it from my teen and she was poorly over the weekend. Last night my throat started feeling scratchy and my nose/sinuses hurt. Woke up in the night alternating freezing and boiling, my feet hurt walking to the toilet. My head is pounding, body aches. I only had some covid tests in as I got an email from the government a week or so ago saying I could benefit from antivirals if I caught covid and should keep a box of tests in the house just incase. So far no loss of smell or taste 🤞

ProfYaffle · 17/01/2023 11:25

Dh and I tested positive this weekend. Both have sore throat, dry cough, temperature (him higher than me), tiredness, sneezing, moderate cold symptoms.

Get the antivirals if you want them, they made a big difference to how I felt
Downside is disgusting mouth taste!

Nsws2015 · 17/01/2023 11:35

@Rebel2023 thanks for that, the last time I had it it wiped me out for the better part of a month! My asthma was pretty bad for weeks after too, I assume it's my asthma that they say I can have them for. I've reported the test and will definitely take them when they call.

bluetongue · 18/01/2023 02:39

I might have it at the moment but probably not going to test (waiting for the Mumsnet hordes to come after me with pitchforks).

Started getting sick half way through a long haul flight to London and I have a moderate sore throat and what feels like a very slight fever. No coughing or blocked or runny nose.

Off topic but if anyone knows the best sore throat remedy I can buy while in London I’d be most greatful.

ItsGettingCold · 18/01/2023 02:53

I actually don't know of anyone right now that has covid so we are very thankful for that.(From the US)
Please feel better soon everyone!💐

Dontsayfuckorbugger · 18/01/2023 03:42

Pharmacy dispenser here. Lots of covid still about with headache, cough, sore throat etc however there is also lots of normal cough and colds around with the same symptoms due to many SARS cases. Also we have been via pharmacy news/updates etc that covid tests dont necessarily pick up the new strains of covid anymore hence all the negative tests. There are now so many variants of covid the original strain no longer exists due to its multuple mutation. Many of my co-workers have had covid symptoms but we are told we are still required to work as no one needs to isolate plus the symptoms are a lot milder. Just treat symptoms as you would a cold thats all you can do. Drs are not interested.

PassionateLady · 18/01/2023 04:45

I would say take a test. My entire family caught it but the only thing that tipped us off to bother testing was that my husband started complaining that he couldn't taste anything. We are all symptom free 4 days into self isolating. The toddler even has no symptoms. Not even a slight fever.

YearoftheRabbit23 · 18/01/2023 05:23

Slightly scratchy throat, not really sore. Not much appetite and really disturbed sleep for about 4 days. Tested positive for 13 days .

WilsonMilson · 20/01/2023 12:16

Tested positive December 31st. Some minor muscle aches then and a bit ‘off’ feeling, but nothing major. Slight sniffles. No exhaustion, minor dry tickly cough. Only tested as DH had tested positive the day earlier feeling rotten.
Then day 5 totally lost smell and taste. 15 days later and it’s beginning to come back a bit, thank god as it’s horrid.

However, today I feel wiped out. Racing heart, shivery with goosebumps on legs, heavy legs and just feel like I want to lie down. Don’t think I’ve caught anything else as I’ve been wfh and not around anyone, the family are all well. Tested and am now negative.

So bizarre to be getting better with the taste and smell and now to get this exhaustion and fluish feeling. Also minor tinnitus just started - great joy. Urgh.

Whatistheanswer2023 · 20/01/2023 15:23

I’m still exhausted!! But then I’m getting hormonal insomnia and headaches on top.

Day 18. Feeling much better but still have dizziness and racing heart when bending over, climbing stairs or doing any other mild physical activity. Considering calling the GP next week. Anyone had this issue and did it need treatment or settle on its own?

Nsws2015 · 21/01/2023 19:51

I tested negative yesterday. Never had any antivirals or any contact regarding them. I hadn't expected to test negative so soon given how dark my test was on Tuesday. I feel much better, still tired and get a bit breathless but my inhaler helps loads with that. I'm waking up in the early hours and am awake for a good couple hours though which is frustrating
