So I've just found out I've got covid. Did a test this morning. It started with a fever on Monday night which continued until last night. Fever has now gone and I've got a slight chesty cough lingering. Feel a bit dizzy as well. Has anyone else had the same? Was this the beginning of the end for you?

Day 8 still have the morning sickness type feeling and today I feel like my throat is full of phlegm....Covid really is the gift that keeps on giving!

Catsforeverinlove · 25/09/2022 12:35

@2anddone i noticed the phlegm issue today too, started in the morning.
How is your smell and taste?
Also I feel like my heart is racing badly.
I am supposed to have an job interview tomorrow, I’m thinking to call them in the morning - they know I got covid as originally the interview was to be on Friday but they moved it for me.
Now I still feel sick so I can’t imagine go in..

2anddone · 25/09/2022 12:40

@Catsforeverinlove my smell and taste has stayed normal throughout. I am due back to work tomorrow. I am dreading it as a childminder so there won't be any easing back in! I have 6 to take to school and then I should have 3 under 3 during the day before collecting 5 from school at the end of the day. One of the under 3's has only been with me a few weeks and still very unsettled (spends all day crying whatever I do and end up holding him for 9 hours unless he is asleep or eating) I have just text the mum to say I can't have him tomorrow as I am not well enough, she hasn't replied so assume she is pissed off but I know I can't manage him tomorrow...not sure how I will manage the other 2 but at least they potter about and amuse themselves as they are settled!! Hate being self employed last week off cost me a fortune and if I am totally honest I could do with another couple of days!

Catsforeverinlove · 25/09/2022 12:46

@2anddone wow that a lots of kids especially when you are not feeling well.
Yeah, I would definitely tell the other mum you are unwell to take care of him especially holding him that long.
The interview is in school for lunch lady position so I wonder whether to cancel it even I am interested in the job but feeling like crap, can’t imagine walk there smartly dressed ( can’t even bother to get dressed now apart being in leggings and hoodie) and feeling pukey.

2anddone · 25/09/2022 12:47

@Catsforeverinlove I know the primary school I do school runs for would really appreciate you being honest and not going if you feel rough. Hopefully they can hold off til Wednesday to give you a few more days.

Catsforeverinlove · 25/09/2022 14:21

@2anddone do you think it would be ok to call them in the morning tell them I’m not well?
They rang me on last Wed,I told them straight away I just tested positive inviting me for interview on Fri. Then they call me again and postponed it for Mon.
Monday is tomorrow and I still don’t feel like would go in..

2anddone · 25/09/2022 14:38

I would call them first thing and explain. I am sure they would understand Flowers

Catsforeverinlove · 26/09/2022 11:21

Hello, so how’s is everyone today?
I have occasional nausea, not appetite at all.
I can’t smell anything and still tested positive this morning.

Juniperbeetroot · 26/09/2022 12:00

Hi everyone, I am on my second round of covid, positive test on Wednesday last week and feel like I’m over the initial flu type symptoms. I’m left feeling very dizzy and exhausted, almost like a drunk feeling. I remember this lasting a while when I had covid before. I can’t really smell or taste much either.

2anddone · 26/09/2022 13:08

Hi all I am back to work today and shattered already! Still can't shake the dizzy/nausea feeling so currently wearing travel bands and popping anti sickness tablets like smarties every 4 hours...I wouldn't be at work today if I wasn't self employed and last week cost me £100's in refunds to close!!

CatAlice · 26/09/2022 14:26

Just got a faint red line. Woke up with sore throat, then headache. I had covid in 2021 and was in hospital over a week.
I had thought having a severe dose might give me extra protection (on top of the 5 doses of vaccine) but here it is.
DH had it a month ago and I didn't get it despite sleeping in same bed and spending 4 hours in a car.

I'm really hoping it's true that Omicron is less bad than Delta as I lost 3 months of my life last year to that.

Catsforeverinlove · 27/09/2022 07:03

Morning,
I felt nauseous half of the night.
Cant smell or taste.
My 11 yr old child also had Covid before me and have now parosmia, everything tastes wrong to her. She is now refusing eat anything and I fell very sad for her, not sure how to help her.
Even her favourite food tastes apparently like mud ..I worry that this is permanent.

Lizbiz89 · 27/09/2022 10:22

@Catsforeverinlove I've had the same. Went to eat some salad last night and the salad dressing tasted absolutely rancid! Basically anything acidic or sour tastes awful. Hoping it goes soon as it's really affecting my food. I've read that it does go eventually. And my sickness is finally going thank god!

Catsforeverinlove · 27/09/2022 10:26

@Lizbiz89 I was hoping my nausea is finally easing too yesterday but today it’s back.
I woke up at 4am feeling sick and as I eat nothing, feeling even worse.
Did not each much yesterday so I wonder if it’s actually cos I’m hungry but to thinking to start eat makes my stomach churn..
I had my first chocolate coffee today after week, it was ok, could taste some of it.

TickyTok · 27/09/2022 10:39

In case any other emetophobes are reading, covid was actually one of the least nauseating bugs I've had. Even DD (3) who had unrelenting fever for 2 days didn't throw up or get any gastric symptoms.

Mine was a lot like a lingering head cold without the phlegm and (bizarrely) without coughing. Just had a sweaty feverish feeling for a day that gradually went after 4 days. There was also a weird sensation of my sinuses being swollen so that caused smell to disappear for a few days. Once the swelling feeling reduced, smell came back right away.

Has a slight rebound which apparently is common. I felt almost completely better on day 4 but then got a headache and mild sore throat the next day. Then the swollen sinus feeling came back for another few days but that was it.

I'd say for most people (esp vaxxed) you will definitely be over the worst of it after 3 days. At no point did I feel ill enough to lie in bed so had I not known it was covid I would have been out and about as usual.

Lizbiz89 · 27/09/2022 11:17

@Catsforeverinlove yes it could be because you're not eating much. Last night I felt really nauseous until I had my dinner. Almost didn't eat as I was feeling so sick but forced myself and I did feel better after. Today the sickness is pretty much gone. Still not overly hungry but definitely not as sick. Just hope I can eat a normal meal tonight!

Catsforeverinlove · 27/09/2022 12:41

@Lizbiz89 I cooked dinner yesterday just quiche and baked potatoes, however I can still smell the oven smell in my nose, it absolutely nauseating, I feel like trapped with the smell forever.
Absolutely hate this crappy time and to think that I could get it again and again..

Catsforeverinlove · 29/09/2022 09:56

Hello, how is everyone doing?
I still tested positive yesterday, was hoping for negative but not yet.
I feel definitely better with occasional bits of nausea but I am also stressed a bit at the moment so that could be also due to that partial.
I wonder have anyone reported their Positive result to Nhs on the government website ?
I wonder if I should as I’m going away in 5 weeks to European country for few days visit a family and while this particular Eu country has no any Covid restrictions now they are more vigilant than U.K. and just in case they would introduce some Covid testing rules again in few weeks, my test may still show positive as I read it can show up to 90 days. But If I report it now, I will have proof I had Covid so the test may still show positive when I travel..

CatAlice · 29/09/2022 11:11

Different experience for me this time.
It's like the world's worst cold, stuffed head, congestion, headache, no appetite.
Last time I had no cold symptoms but I had dizziness, vomiting (lost a stone), tachycardia, couldn't breathe or walk and most scary I lost cognitive function. Thought I was dying. Was in hospital on a catalogue of drugs and oxygen.
So actually even though I feel crap I'm actually delighted to know that Omicron really is a different disease and while unpleasant I need not fear it.

Juniperbeetroot · 30/09/2022 12:21

I’m testing negative now and feeling a lot better generally but am still exhausted, I just did a bit of light tidying up and now I feel breathless and dizzy again!

Catsforeverinlove · 30/09/2022 13:53

I feel okish apart having NO appetite and anything eating makes me sick.
Already lost more than half stone.

Catsforeverinlove · 01/10/2022 14:02

How everyone today?
im still testing positive.
My stomach is killing me, have nonstop nausea now, can’t eat much.

Juniperbeetroot · 01/10/2022 18:47

I’m day 10 and have had a negative test for a few days now but this morning I woke up with such a chesty cough 😬 it’s been driving me mad all day.

Catsforeverinlove · 02/10/2022 11:14

@Juniperbeetroot my nose is itchy and full of mucous but not blocked..
still testing positive 10 days on.
Still nauseous and no appetite..
