Got covid - am over the worst of it?

So I've just found out I've got covid. Did a test this morning. It started with a fever on Monday night which continued until last night. Fever has now gone and I've got a slight chesty cough lingering. Feel a bit dizzy as well. Has anyone else had the same? Was this the beginning of the end for you?

Everyone's different. Hope you feel better soon.

fadingfast · 22/09/2022 19:10

I tested positive a couple of weeks ago. I felt ok the first day, then felt worse day 2 and 3, and found day 4 and 5 the worst. Then from day 6 I started feeling better. My worst symptoms were nausea and dizziness, tiredness and a lingering headache. Hope you feel better soon!

properdoughnut · 22/09/2022 19:14

Could be. Could not be. Things got worse day 5 for me then better from day 8 then 2 weeks after I'd "recovered" it hit me again.

Lizbiz89 · 22/09/2022 19:27

Thank you everyone! My fever has gone, cough isn't so bad but now I'm starting to feel sick. Oh the joys!! Just when I think I'm on the mend, it kicks off again. I've never experienced anything quite like it. Horrible thing.

I got it and had the worse headache I've ever had with really bad dizzy spells. I felt dreadful but woke up on day five feeling loads better. The dizziness lingered though and I still get dizzy spells 6 weeks later.

Numbat2022 · 23/09/2022 00:31

I've found - and others have agreed - it's not a linear illness to recover from. You can feel better one day and have new, horrible symptoms the next. It's not like flu where you feel terrible for a few days and then start to get better.

Catsforeverinlove · 23/09/2022 15:51

It’s terrible isn’t?
I tested positive first time ever on Wednesday and my symptoms were achy limbs for a few days before.
On Wednesday morning I felt nauseous and also shivering so I took the test which showed positive line within 5 seconds.
Now my limbs feel slightly better, however I sweat randomly and feel nauseous all the time, also probably have fever but taking paracetamol regularly..Occasionally headache a bit..
No sore throat and I have cough permanently as having lung disease ..

I could have written this exact post (including testing positive on Wednesday and never having had it before), although I do have a sore throat and my cough is from covid (as no lung issues).

The paracetamol does seem to be helping me as I feel dreadful when it wears off!

SplitterBug · 23/09/2022 16:05

I'll keep you company... Also started with a fever on Monday. Tuesday-Thursday mainly in bed. Now just feeling wiped out.

Humphriescushion · 23/09/2022 16:11

Anyone have a really bad headache? Paracetamol not doing much. Don’t know if it’s Covid only just occurred to me. Thought it was flu but not sure now.

Numbat2022 · 23/09/2022 16:28

I found ibuprofen was the only thing that really worked. Paracetamol was a bit useless, just dulled everything slightly. The first few days I felt ok after a new ibuprofen dose and pretty rubbish when it wore off.

Humphriescushion · 23/09/2022 16:54

Thanks @ numbat Might try ibuprofen then as well. Covid test negative. But on day 5 of symptoms so maybe this makes a difference.

Catsforeverinlove · 23/09/2022 17:04

@JacquelineCarlyle it’s the nausea which is pretty annoying, reminds me morning sickness years ago!
Its I feel ok for few moments , start doing something like a packing a parcel and suddenly I feel nauseous and sweaty. I hate It!!

Lizbiz89 · 23/09/2022 17:09

@Catsforeverinlove you've hit the nail on the head! It feels exactly like morning sickness! It disappears and then you go to do something and it starts again! Completely lost my appetite as well. Can't wait for it to go!

OP posts:
Catsforeverinlove · 23/09/2022 17:12

@Lizbiz89 yes, I got no appetite at all. I’m just drinking nettle teas and mug soup.

fadingfast · 23/09/2022 17:23

Yes I also found it very similar to morning sickness, and I found eating plain things helped. The other thing that I’m certain helped with the nausea and dizziness was travel sickness tablets. I had some Stugeron in the cupboard, which contain a type of anti-histamine (I think it has to be one of the old types of anti histamine, which can make you drowsy, not the ones they sell for hay fever). I felt loads better once I’d taken some of them.

VicSynix · 23/09/2022 17:29

Oh god, wish I'd lost my appetite - I am absolutely starving. But then I'm not feeling pukey, thankfully. As someone said upthread, it's the way that it doesn't progress properly like a cold or flu that is hardest to cope with - seems to be one step forward, two steps sideways. I woke up this morning feeling practically normal (no headache! no sore throat!) but then the spacey/dizziness kicked in.

OP has it and has just gone back to bed for the third time today.

VicSynix · 23/09/2022 17:30

That should obviously say DP has it.

My brain has gone to mush.

Lizbiz89 · 23/09/2022 17:31

@VicSynix I was going to say, I wish I could go back to bed 🤣. My 3 year old would never allow that unfortunately. Bring on bed time!

Humphriescushion · 23/09/2022 18:06

Thanks a million @Numbat2022 took Ibuprofen and headache not nearly so bad! Paracetamol wasn’t touching it. Still a bit sore but not nearly so bad.

Catsforeverinlove · 23/09/2022 18:20

On top of my Covid now I got period which actually just finished a week ago!
My stomach seriously aches now, like proper morning sickness, up and down..

Lizbiz89 · 23/09/2022 18:51

@Catsforeverinlove I've just come on too 😫. Honestly no wonder I'm feeling beyond crap. Covid and period at once!! Unbelievable!

Chocolatetrifle · 23/09/2022 20:56

I tested positive on Wednesday morning. I previously had covid in march 2022. Suspected it was again as soon as I got the body chills and headache which didn't go with paracetamol as this was how I felt in March. For me it comes and goes. I woke with a sore throat in the night and a bad ache in my right leg so much so I could hardly move it ! Both these symptoms disappeared this morning, still have the sweats, nausea and increased appetite coming and then going. I've also got the cough.
Hope everyone improves soon.

Nat6999 · 23/09/2022 21:00

Ds tested positive yesterday, I think he caught it off exh who was positive last week, he is fairly poorly today, says even his fingers hurt, has a sore throat that feels like ge has swallowed broken glass, all he wants to do is sleep.

Catsforeverinlove · 24/09/2022 08:58

How is everyone today?
I felt so nauseous the most of night, now it’s even worse, I can’t literally even drink or eat anything.
keep getting hot and cold at the same time.
Also inside my nose is itchy and keep sneezing.
