Has anyone had covid 3+ times?

Lovemusic33 · 06/08/2022 08:52

Just trying to prove a point to a relative, just asked them if they could drop me off a covid test as I’m not well, they refused because I have had covid 3 times already and can’t possibly have it again 🤔.

So has anyone had it 3 or more times? I had it back in April (my 3rd time) am fully vaxxed.

No idea as I stopped testing ages ago. I've been unwell a number of times but no idea if it's covid as I don't test

I didn't think anyone did now Confused

KangarooKenny · 06/08/2022 08:55

Ive never had covid, or been unwell during these times, and I wouldn’t test if I was ill now as I don’t see the point. If you’ve got so of a cold or flu we don’t test for that, we get in with it. Covid is just a virus to get over now.

limoncelloo · 06/08/2022 08:59

I've had it four, confirmed.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/08/2022 08:59

My mum’s had it 3 times. Once in Dec 2020 with hospitalisation, twice more in the last 6-7 months. No reason you can’t have it again

For those saying why test - some people's workplaces still ask them to isolate if they get covid. Also, they may have older, vulnerable relatives. I tested when I had covid recently because I have a baby, so I wanted to know.

Some of us have to test for work or/and to make sure we are safe around CEV relatives and friends. Glad you're ok though.

OP no I don't, most people I know have had it once or twice but people can get it again. Hope you feel better again soon.

I have been testing as I am a care worker (self employed so not forced to test) and I also have a vulnerable child.

I have had it 3 times in 11 months, I've had 4 vaccines. I'm CEV and work in a school, also have kids at two different schools.

The last time I tested positive I was eligible for the antiviral medication, although it took a few days to work, it was a game changer.

I have to test weekly due to the medication I'm on.

SheWoreYellow · 06/08/2022 09:14

It’s perfectly possible for you to get it again I’m afraid. There is the odd case with the current variants of people only having a four weeks gap between episodes.

Just ask someone else for a test.

Rollingdownland · 06/08/2022 09:30

I've just got it a third time.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 06/08/2022 09:35

I've never had it 😇

Lovemusic33 · 06/08/2022 10:09

Test is negative thank god, must just be a throat infection or something. At least I can now venture out to get some throat sweets 😁.

Good morning everyone, one of my colleagues at work has had it 3 times now, I have to admit we were all surprised when she told us. We were all ok though as we all worked from home, take care of yourself

Hiddenvoice · 06/08/2022 10:18

My brother and sil have had it 4 times. She got it twice whilst pregnant - start and end of pregnancy. He got it, got over it and a month later had it again but a different variant.
My neighbours had it 3 times from November - February. Their children kept catching it at school.
It is possible but I think some people have stopped testing.

Hiddenvoice · 06/08/2022 10:19

I had all the symptoms for a week before my test went from negative to positive. My dh tested negative in the morning and was then positive by the evening.

SNAFU247 · 06/08/2022 12:34

DH has had it 3 times we know of. Possibly 4 times, but testing wasn't as available the first time. He's a teacher.

EllaPaella · 06/08/2022 19:31

I've had it 3 times and am fully vaccinated. Once before vaccination and twice this year after the 3 jabs.

I am the same, I volunteered to take part in a study and did 36 PCR tests, all negative. Once that finished I decided there is no need to ever test again.
I don't test to see if I have a cold, hayfever ect.
No testing means I'll never need to worry or isolate or stay at home.

AhaLyn · 06/08/2022 21:49

@Indoctro nhs staff still have to test. Some people that are cev will test as they may need extra treatment.

0pheIiaBalls · 07/08/2022 09:48

Six times for me, including three this year (all definitely separate infections and all positive tests, apart from my first in March 2020).

DeadRight · 07/08/2022 09:56

I’ve had it three times.

Winter is around the corner, so won’t be surprised if I get it a fourth time!

That must be awful for you.
i tested negative on day one and two of testing, I had no more test kits so haven’t been testing but have been very unwell, if it is covid it is a lot worse than last time I had it, I have t slept due to the coughing and sore throat, it has eased a bit during the day but night times awful. I wonder if some people just don’t hold any immunity?

We've all had it three times.
Not looking forward to getting it again, I won't lie.

JulieMarooley · 18/08/2022 23:37

3 times here.

Last time was only caught because of a monthly ONS PCR test, as I had barely any symptoms (and lateral flows were negative throughout), so I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve had it other times.

Dizzywizz · 20/08/2022 13:00

3rd time for me. My symptoms started on Tuesday but I was testing negative until this morning (have to test due to hospital treatment).
