Tested positive on Tuesday and just wondering from what day are people starting to test negative with the current strain?

My DH tested positive last Monday, DS Wednesday and me Thursday. DS and I both had it in December, DH managed to dodge it so this is his first time. I felt more unwell this time around, as many others have said, much more like flu.

DS due back at school today so I tested him (I know it's not a legal requirement but I felt it the right thing to do) - his test came back negative. My test also negative - which I'm really surprised about as I still feel pretty rotten. DH - really strong positive still.

I don't know if it's because DS and I have had it before, if it's down to exposure/viral load, different immune systems? DH and I both vaccinated.

Devotedcatslave · 11/07/2022 08:49

I was down to a faint positive on day 10. I gave up testing after that. DS had much milder symptoms and only tested positive for about 3 days though.

LIZS · 11/07/2022 09:27

Day 13, at long last!

Verite1 · 11/07/2022 09:31

My DS was day 4. So was my friends son!

Verite1 · 11/07/2022 09:33

Also none of us caught it from him. Despite not isolating from him in the house.

macshoto · 11/07/2022 09:48

Second time having Covid - 4 months after the first. Tested negative by day 7. First time around it took until day 11.

IsadoraQuagmire · 11/07/2022 10:13

I just tested negative this morning. Day 8 since symptoms started and Day 5 since my first positive test. Still feel crappy though, but better than I did!

Pluvia · 11/07/2022 10:13

Having posted that my partner had tested positive for the last 11 days, this morning's test was clear. Phew!

Tested very postitive on day 3 of symptoms, today is day 9 still faintly positive. The upset stomach is lingering. Do not trust a fart. And bloody tired.

Oh my, is an upset stomach a symptom of this new strain?! I’m on day 6 and for the last couple days have had the most painful stomach cramps ever with severe diarrhoea- I thought it was a side effect of my antibiotics so I stopped taking them.

I haven’t and probably won’t test again to see when I’m clear, although I was really ill with covid back in January and tested positive for over 3 weeks. This time doesn’t seem as bad.

I had awful vomiting and nausea.

My most annoying symptom is a bonus period, 10 days early.
Thanks Mother Nature, just what I need right now, another thing to deal with FFS.

ZeusandClio · 11/07/2022 10:48

Do you go back to work after day 3 even if positive? I can't work out what the guidance is!

LIZS · 11/07/2022 11:00

Guiidance is five days (starting day after testing+) or ten for contact with more vulnerable.

LIZS · 11/07/2022 11:00

Was the positive in the morning a strong or faint one before testing negative in the afternoon?

Day 9 and I suddenly have D&V, not sure if related

roundandrounditgoes1234 · 11/07/2022 16:31

@Kp8 it was very strong on the ~Saturday but i was feeling fine, i tested sunday morning fainter positive but def positive then i tested at 8pm Sunday after not eating or drinking for around 2 hours - i did 2 tests then both were negative. I then tested straight after waking today no food or drink and had a negative and double checked with another test. All tests both positive and negative came from the same box. I had only had 2 rough days Weds and Thursday with head ache, sore throat and a bit chestly and tired a lot of people are getting it much worse and testing positive for longer. It may not mean anything but I had covid earlier had in the year again mildly but up until then had escaped it for 2 years. I am triple vaxed

TenoringBehind · 12/07/2022 10:54

4 days for ds. Had been a very strong positive on day 1 too.

LIZS · 12/07/2022 11:12

Does anyone feel rubbish even after testing negative? Headache, wheezy and snivels today, after a week of feeling better. Wondering if it is the heat or maybe I overdid it yesterday.

SleepingAgent · 12/07/2022 12:21

I tested negative on day 9. Had strong symptoms and it was my first dose of Covid. Triple jabbed.

blurpyblurp · 12/07/2022 13:26

I finally tested negative today (day 11). I’ve had crazy stomach pains since last night and never had this before. Did anyone else experience this?

have been keeping up with water, constantly sitting outside in sun to work. Nothing has made this any shorter
