Are you wearing masks at work?

We are supposed to wear one to move around at work. Coming out of the office to go to the toilet. To go and make a drink or get your lunch out of the fridge in the kitchen.

Anyone else doing this? Is it overkill? What do you think?

Yes. But I'm NHS , so probably for the foreseeable future.
I've noticed in shops , some staff still wearing them.

mynameiscalypso · 28/04/2022 14:02

Nope. We haven't for a very long time (1 year+). We're not at full capacity in the office though as we're hybrid.

DeePlume · 28/04/2022 14:03

Yes. I'm in retail. I think we are one of the few shops in our mall though!

notacooldad · 28/04/2022 14:03

Weve never worn one.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 28/04/2022 14:03

No, we were but that stopped around christmas time

Etinoxaurus · 28/04/2022 14:05

Yes. And we’re still getting staff really sick as well as isolating after a positive test.
it’s flipping relentless.

TulipsGarden · 28/04/2022 14:10

No, but we are asked to work at home if we feel unwell (even with just a mild cold).

thelittlestrhino · 28/04/2022 14:11

We were told last week that we could stop if we wanted to. Educational setting, Scotland (though I think most other local authorities had removed this rule a while back).

KStockHERO · 28/04/2022 14:12

I work at a university. The policy is that staff and students are 'encouraged' to wear masks in shared areas like those you describe.

Most of my colleagues do. I don't.

Overthebow · 28/04/2022 14:40

No, everyone has stopped now in my office. Our policy has moved to wearing one if people want to but it’s not required.

Whyevencare · 28/04/2022 14:50

We never have in my workplace.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/04/2022 15:30

No we aren't. We stopped wearing them a year ago. Definitely overkill.

Comefromaway · 28/04/2022 15:33

No, we've never worn masks in the office since we all returned September 2020.

lljkk · 28/04/2022 16:08

At one point we were supposed to mask up even while sat at desks. Not customer/patient/client facing roles. Now it's all advisory. Maybe 20% of ppl are masked at least sometimes.

Bornslippery · 28/04/2022 16:51

Unfortunately yes. When we are away from our desks. Mainly office based

Jules912 · 28/04/2022 17:56

No, work dropped the requirement to a couple of months ago along with not having to test to go in ( I suspect the latter was cause they didn't want to pay for tests). We are meant to wfh if we feel at all unwell still.

Aposterhasnoname · 28/04/2022 17:57

Scrapped them (finally) on 1st April.

RaininSummer · 28/04/2022 18:00

Not any more. Civil service public facing role.

megletthesecond · 28/04/2022 18:01

No. I was the last and I've literally just stopped. We're still very spread out in an open plan office though. Still 50% wfh.

I'll probably get nasty covid next week.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 28/04/2022 18:01

Nope. I only go in once a week. But it stopped on the 24th

SexyLittleNosferatu · 28/04/2022 18:13

We never have. Performative overkill in my opinion.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 28/04/2022 18:16

I work in a shop and as an invigilator

at the moment i am wearing a mask all the time because ive been in contact with someone who has covid

but usually I don’t wear one in the school and i only wear a mask at work when a customer is, neither place of employment requests me to wear one

LethargeMarg · 28/04/2022 18:27

What are the jobs that have never worn masks? Farmers or similar ? Seems unusual to have never worn them unless outside . We still wear them all the time (nhs) and I still feel a bit strange not wearing them in shops etc ..

I work in the office of a construction firm.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 28/04/2022 18:49

No. And only have when working in a school or when mandatory within shops.
