Independent sage condemn lifting of restrictions

I see that independent sage have condemned the government’s plan to lift restrictions this week, saying that it’s not driven by the science.

Are the vulnerable being thrown to the wolves as they are claiming?

However on the other hand independent sage have been against every reduction in restrictions that’s taken place. They’ve also called for lockdowns in December 2021, September 2021 among others.

Are they correct in this situation?

Are you really surprised by this? "Independent Sage" have spent the last 2 years predicting all sorts of things which have never come to pass and advocating for Zero Covid.

The problem which "Independent Sage" have now is that what little bit of relevance they ever had is rapidly disappearing and this is the final nail in their coffin.

GirlInACountrySong · 20/02/2022 13:47

Unfortunately the 'science' doesn't pay the bills

So off to work I go....

LyricalBlowToTheJaw · 20/02/2022 13:48

We haven't been in lockdown for a year.

True, though not for want of Indy Sage trying.

TheKeatingFive · 20/02/2022 13:48

Oh so true. All they merit is an eye roll.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 20/02/2022 13:49

Why is anyone even listening to 'independent SAGE' anyway FFS?

They want perpetual lockdown and zero Covid come hell or high water.

CorneliusVetch · 20/02/2022 13:50

I don’t agree with the decision to end isolation when positive, but that’s despite iSage saying it, not because of it.

BestKnitterInScotland · 20/02/2022 13:52

@LyricalBlowToTheJaw

Well that's not really true, at least in Scotland.

This time last year, schools were closed and stayed closed until after the Easter Holidays, about the 20th April. Non-essential retail was closed, hospitality was all closed except for takeaway.

We never stopped the mask thing last summer, kids have been expected to wear masks in schools since August 2020. Queen Nicola is a BIG FAN of the Indy Sage lot.

@Whammyyammy

Will nobody follow the science?🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
MarshaBradyo · 20/02/2022 14:05

Independent SAGE are sticking around for some reason but they are indeed

the epitome of doomsaying, mithering, attention-seeking whingers as put in pp

Toadsinholes · 20/02/2022 14:07

We haven’t been out of lockdown a year! I couldn’t go back to work til May as my industry was closed til May 17th (as were many others) so that’s 9 months and that stupid rule of 6 thing & social distancing (bleugh I hate that term) was still in place in late May/June time. Might not have been strict lockdown but it was still not normal life by any stretch.

Blubells · 20/02/2022 14:10

If our only goal is to save every possible life, then yes we should keep all restrictions indefinitely.

LyricalBlowToTheJaw · 20/02/2022 14:16

My sympathies BestKnitter

Againstmachine · 20/02/2022 14:36

Indie sage it's time to disappear and call it a day as you aren't relevant and have never been.
Dragging it out to keep their little bit of fame going.

sashagabadon · 20/02/2022 14:38

They get nearly every judgement call wrong from what I can see so no doubt they are wrong about this too

DSGR · 20/02/2022 14:40

Independent Sage have been furious all along. So what?
There’s a reason they’re not part of Sage!

PlanetNormal · 20/02/2022 14:45

Of course they do. Independent SAGE are an illiberal, authoritarian group who advocate permanent lockdown and removal of personal autonomy and freedom. It’s not about covid for them, it’s about social control.

I think some of them have got quite used to the frequent TV appearances, shall we say...
Littlebelina · 20/02/2022 15:53

What anyfucker said

IcedPurple · 20/02/2022 15:53

The self-appointed 'indy' SAGE need to accept that their 15 minutes are up, and go back to the well paid jobs they continued to do throughout the various lockdowns which they advocated and which have decimated thousands of people's livelihoods.

Dghgcotcitc · 20/02/2022 16:19

No se haven’t been in lockdown for a year but indie sage were very keen on a lockdown before Christmas! I said if we followed Indy sage we would be in lockdown but thankfully we don’t do are entitled to see our friends and family.

…oh and lockdown didn’t properly ease until may 2021 when indoor hospitality opened so its not a year ago..unless you are boris of course abs the lockdown was never in place for you but for the year of us it’s less than a year ago!

BestKnitterInScotland · 20/02/2022 16:48

Yes, that woman from NHS Grampian/Aberdeen or wherever who is always in her log cabin with the wood burner behind her. Whanging on about how we all need to stay safe and wear our masks and never leave the house while she sits there getting her lovely NHS manager's salary and the appearance fees from BBC and ITV.

Againstmachine · 20/02/2022 16:51

…oh and lockdown didn’t properly ease until may 2021 when indoor hospitality opened so its not a year ago..

Personally I'd say it was July, when they allowed nightclubs ect to open.

Newgirls · 20/02/2022 16:54

One of the Indy sage people is a professor at my dd uni and he still isn’t teaching face to face. Yet manages to do tv interviews etc

Againstmachine · 20/02/2022 16:55

I agree I would dare say some love it and the power they feel it gives them.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 20/02/2022 16:58

@SexyLittleNosferatu

Quite frankly indie sage can get to fuck.

Again, I'll say please stop using "the vulnerable" to bolster your argument. Plenty of us "the vulnerable" are thrilled to return to normal life.

This. I didn't sheild the entire time. I worked from home and still do as that suits me better. But if we (as in the population) were allowed out I was bloody going with them
