Has *anyone* tested negative on days 5 and 6?!

Just that, really. My DD is one of about a dozen kids in her class that have tested positive recently. All of them are still testing positive by days 5 and 6.

It's Day 5 for my dd today and there they are: two strong red lines.

I'm curious: anyone been released on day 6?!

I was literally just about to ask the same thing. DS on day 6 - two very strong red lines still. Possibly even more strongly positive than yesterday! 😩

Jointhecircus · 23/01/2022 10:15

I’m day 7 and still testing strongly positive and have starting to ask the same question you are!

WaystarRoycoCEO · 23/01/2022 10:18

Yes, both me and my eldest were negative by then, although as I had no symptoms I might have been positive for a few days without knowing. My eldest had symptoms though and was still negative on day 5/6. Just keeping our fingers crossed that the youngest will test negative tomorrow day 5 so he can go back to school on Tuesday as he’s going mad being stuck at home.

cloudjumper · 23/01/2022 10:20

Yes, DD tested negative of both Day 5 and 6.

LastChristmasIGaveYouMyHeart · 23/01/2022 10:21

I think people that are testing negative that early, are probably people that had covid for a few days already before they decided to take a test.

purpleme12 · 23/01/2022 10:21

I was negative day 5
Still got to test today but should be negative

Zodlebud · 23/01/2022 10:24

Yep, but then I NEVER tested positive on a lateral flow test at any point, only on the PCR

StylishMummy · 23/01/2022 10:27

DH is day 6 today and tested positive yesterday but negative today

Dippydinosaurus · 23/01/2022 10:29

DD and I are both still testing positive now on day 7. Mine is fainter but still positive but DDs line comes up straight away and no fainter than last week. Will we still be contagious after 10 days?

That's a good point. With the number of cases in class and close contact with a couple of other known positives, I tested my dd as a precaution and the line was still quite faint. Still positive by day 5!

My son is negative today on day 5 so hopefully will be tomorrow as well. He got a negative test the day before his positive (outbreak at school so asked to test every day) so I don’t think he could have had it for long before we found out. He had hardly any symptoms.

Blubells · 23/01/2022 10:31

Yes my DD was negative on day 6. And she counted day 1 as her first day of very mild symptoms.

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2022 10:32

I have really significant symptoms, been v unwell and had a positive PCR. I've never had a positive LFT and suspect they'll remain negative. I'm not well at all though and still coughing continuously. There's no way I'm not capable of spreading it surely, but the LFTs would suggest otherwise.

kennythekangaroo · 23/01/2022 10:33

DD was negative last Saturday as she tested before her covid jab then was positive the next day. She was negative this Friday and Saturday which were her day 5/6.

It is my day 5 today and I have got a 2nd line still.

Thunderface · 23/01/2022 10:50

I did but I've had the booster and my symptoms were very mild and short lived.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 23/01/2022 10:51

DS2 tested negative day 5 and 6. Adult, vaxxed and boosted.

RiskyCookie · 23/01/2022 10:53

DD has just done her day 5 lft and it's negative too.

Hoping for another neg tomorrow on day 6. 🤞

SweetPotatoDumpling · 23/01/2022 10:57

I was still testing positive on Day 10 (over Christmas) 🤷‍♀️

BrunoNoNoNo · 23/01/2022 11:11

Me and DH are still strong positives on days 5 and 6. We both still have symptoms as well.

DS was negative on days 5 and 6.

SellFridges · 23/01/2022 13:56

DD had less than 24 hours of symptoms, and is still very strong positive on Day 7. Immediate dark line. On her original test it took 5 mins to show and was very faint. She’s been well for 6 days but at this rate will miss another three days of school.

purpleme12 · 23/01/2022 14:16

On day 5 I had faint line on t in the morning
I'm the evening I was negative
On day 6 I had faint line on t again!

GrumpySausage · 23/01/2022 14:57

Ds currently on day 5 and has tested negative. Fingers crossed for tomorrow and he can go back to school.

So far the rest of the family are still testing negative, hoping it continues.

Moltenpink · 23/01/2022 14:59

DS had a faint positive day one, strong positive day 5, has just tested negative on day 7.

Nevermindful · 23/01/2022 15:00

Children negative on day 8 and 9. Adults still testing positive on day 9, today’s didn’t develop immediately and looked a little lighter, but still very much there. Had a few days of feeling rotten, like a very bad cold, but no symptoms since the start of the week. Not bothering testing now as won’t make any difference.

CA0932017 · 23/01/2022 15:01

Yes my Dd this weekend tested negative on day 5&6.. BUT shes had it twice in a month and this was the second time so maybe cleared it quicker.

She tested positive last month with no symptoms at all (we all had it) and still had a line right at the 9 day mark, didn't check after that so not sure how long she had a line.

This time she has symptoms (albeit mild) and negative by day 5&6. I am so relieved for her.

She still had a line on day 4 this time and it wasn't overly faint, so I was fully expecting a line on day 5 but nothing and again on day 6! So don't give up hope yet!
