Has *anyone* tested negative on days 5 and 6?!

Just that, really. My DD is one of about a dozen kids in her class that have tested positive recently. All of them are still testing positive by days 5 and 6.

It's Day 5 for my dd today and there they are: two strong red lines.

I'm curious: anyone been released on day 6?!

I developed mild symptoms, took a PCR the next day and was positive, had bad fatigue/cough/mucus/fever for the first few days.

I was testing negative on lateral flow by day 6 (weak positive day 5).

If it's relevant, I'm double vacced, 30 and otherwise healthy.

Aurorie11 · 23/01/2022 15:24

My DD has tested negative day 5 and 6, back to school tomorrow. She tested negative from day 2 only symptom a bit tired, tested daily for 3 days before her positive.
Just waiting to see what happens with me in a few days time

GrumpySausage · 24/01/2022 07:58

DS took his day 6 test today abs was negative, as was his day 5 so back to school today.

So far the rest of us are negative too. Currently feeling quite lucky but now we're not out of the woods yet.

GrumpySausage · 24/01/2022 07:59

*know we're not out of the woods yet.

BearimyJeremy · 24/01/2022 08:08

My son was negative on day four! but I think we picked it up very late as it was in the Xmas hols so we hadn't been doing the twice weekly. By the time we caught it it was most likely on the way out. None of the rest of us tested positive weirdly. It did go from bright red to nothing very quickly...

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 24/01/2022 08:09

I think people that are testing negative that early, are probably people that had covid for a few days already before they decided to take a test.

I'd agree with this. I tested DS last Tuesday (day0) and he was +ve. Tested him yesterday (day5) and he was -ve, if he gets another -ve today then he's going back to school tomorrow.

But I only tested him on Tuesday because I tested myself and I was +ve (so tested the rest of the family basically). Yesterday, i was still +ve. So I think DS had already had it for a few days with no symptoms, and he then infected me.

My dc tested negative on lateral flow day 7 and 8 - very faint positive on days 5 and 6. They had no symptoms prior to developing a fever on the day they tested positive

Day 6 for my dd and still screamingly positive. Tomorrow is another day ...

DS was, but he was only ill for one day and we didn't catch it off him.

Giveaschitt · 24/01/2022 11:17

I did, but it was before you could get an early release! I'd been testing every day because DH and DS both had it. Tested negative in the morning, felt a bit off later in the day so did another that was faintly positive, confirmed with a PCR that evening (I never got any iller than feeling 'a bit off' for a few days). 2 days later I did another LFT out of curiousity and was negative again.

itsgettingweird · 24/01/2022 11:46

My brother!

He actually got negative day 5 and only tested because he felt fully better. This was back when it was still 10 day isolation.

Then on his day they introduced day 7 rule so he tested again and left isolation as still negative.

Deux · 24/01/2022 11:50

I was asymptomatic when I tested positive, have had really mild symptoms just sneezing and runny nose, but still positive on day 8. Fully vaccinated.

DD, 13 was negative on day 5 but I think she had symptoms about 3 days before her positive

Yellow2 · 24/01/2022 14:55

Yes, he had a very faint positive appear at around 10 min on a Tuesday and by Friday had a faint line and on Saturday even more faint. Sunday absolutely no line and I did 2 tests from different companies to make sure. So he actually go out on day 6. I thought it was a myth until I saw it from start to finish with him.

Yellow2 · 24/01/2022 14:58

And he had a pcr on Saturday as he was a close contact and lateral flow Monday night and of course negative. He had chills a few hours before the lft and then nausea fever etc from a few hours after the lft.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 24/01/2022 15:00

My DD was negative on day 5and 6

That's similar to my experience. I'm on day 8 and still positive. The first positive test was a very faint line but it's now a very emphatic positive. I had very mild symptoms on days 1 and 2 and that's it.

changingstages · 24/01/2022 16:53

DD just got a negative, day 5. But she is still feeling rubbish...

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 24/01/2022 18:11

My son had no symptoms, but positive confirmed by PCR (rules changed day of test! (Scotland))... he didn't test negative until day 7

blackcurrantjam · 24/01/2022 18:13

My DC. But it's second time he's had it so...

SymbollocksInteractionism · 24/01/2022 18:19

I'm still testing very strong positive on day 8. Darker line than yesterday's!

Hosum · 24/01/2022 18:28

I think it depends when you first test DD very strong line day 1 - negative day 5 I expect she had it for a few days before.

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 24/01/2022 18:57

My dd tested -ive on lft and then +ive on pcr and lft. She is still a strong +ive on day 9 😢

Ohsofedupwiththis · 24/01/2022 19:54

Me! At least I think I will.

Kids - no unfortunately. Suspect eldest will need to complete 10 days isolation.

MissRainbowBrite · 24/01/2022 19:57

I was still quite a convincing positive on day 7 but tested this morning, day 8, and completely negative. Symptoms have been gone since day 5 and I've been itching to get out.

purpleme12 · 24/01/2022 19:59

On day 5 and 6 it was faint positive
Now day 7 is a way more obvious positive
I'm not sure I trust these tests now
Ridiculous
