To think I'm in the clear...

Single parent here.

DD unwell and tested positive on Monday.

No way of isolating from her at home, so I've been caring for/comforting her as normal.

I've tested negative everyday so far on a LFT...

Surely if I was going to get it, I would have got it by now?

What's been other people's experiences?

TIA

When we had it in our larger household it took until the evening of day 9 for the last person to get it. She had been negative in the morning

Perfectlystill · 24/01/2022 21:41

I was the same as you OP - DD tested positive last Sunday and I thought I had got away with it but last night DH tested postcode, a week after DD.

Now I feel like there no chance of me escaping it. It's awful!

NaturalBlue · 25/01/2022 07:47

SMe here just waiting for DH to come down!!! I was certain my high strength vitamin D was protecting me … nope!

Bloatstoat · 25/01/2022 09:26

I tested positive 10 days after DS who was the first in our family to get it. I'm still testing positive on day 9, going slightly mad as have been on for nearly 3 weeks now!

Aurorie11 · 25/01/2022 10:26

DD tested positive 17th back to school 24th following negatives days 5 and 6
I tested positive 22nd but symptoms from 20th slight positive on day 5 today
Just waiting for DH and DS, we could still be in this for another few weeks, if its one at a time

KatharinaRosalie · 25/01/2022 11:41

Ah here we go. So DS was positive last Wednesday, DH today.

dumbledory · 25/01/2022 13:30

Sorry to all those who have tested positive after thinking they were in the clear.

Day 8 since DD tested positive...my lateral flow this morning was still very much negative, despite DD still testing positive herself.

Really hoping I'm past the danger point, as it were.

I got it on the last day of my son's isolation period - day 9!!! I thought I would be fine. LP too, it was most annoying. Basically we had to stay in for 2-3 weeks!!

GrumpySausage · 25/01/2022 13:42

Day 7 for testing here and still all negative. No symptoms so far 🤞🏻

LizzardsFromTheSquare · 25/01/2022 13:49

Looks like you got lucky OP. I developed symptoms and tested positive 6 days after ds did. My sister tested positive 11 days after BIL but maybe she got it from someone else. How is your dd feeling?

dumbledory · 25/01/2022 14:00

@LizzardsFromTheSquare

Oh, how unfortunate for your sister! Hope she's ok.

DD is much better overall. All that's lingering is an extremely snotty nose and slight temperature. Was really hoping we could leave isolation early, but as she's still positive we'll wait it out and hopefully get back out into the big wide world on Friday.

CouldItBeYesItCould · 25/01/2022 14:33

I'm still testing negative despite the rest of my household having come down with it over the past 9 days!

All in various stages of isolation but all still testing positive on LFT 😩

GypsyWanderer · 25/01/2022 14:45

We’ve had it in the house 4 times since October and me and DH still haven’t had it so you might not get it!

dumbledory · 25/01/2022 15:09

@GypsyWanderer

Oh wow. That's very reassuring. Are you triple jabbed?

No we’re both just double jabbed at the moment. Had our second one last summer.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 26/01/2022 09:46

Well I've tested positive this morning, exactly 7 days after DP's positive (and 12 days from the point DP had contact with the person he contracted it from).

I'm relieved in a way as I now feel justified for basically isolating for the last week. At least it made my Test and Trace questionnaire about contacts brief!

DontWantTheRivalry · 26/01/2022 09:50

My DH got a positive last Wednesday, I then got a positive on the Friday and our eldest son got a positive on the Saturday.

So we all caught it off each other pretty quickly.

My other son (aged 4) had tested negative throughout.

dumbledory · 26/01/2022 13:06

Day 9 now since DD tested positive and I'm still negative, so looks like I've dodged it.

Bluebubbletrouble · 26/01/2022 20:32

I'm on day 10 since DP tested positive and day 6 since DD got hers. I had thought I may have escaped it but after this thread I'm not sure!

GrumpySausage · 27/01/2022 09:12

Day 8 for DS (back at school after negative days 5/6) and so far rest of us still negative. 🤞🏻

Mightymousestill · 30/01/2022 11:18

4 year old got ill last Monday, his school closed this week anyway as all the teachers have it. He tested neg for 3 days on saliva tests I bought as getting a stick up his nose is like trying to swab a flailing Tasmanian devil. Myself and DP started to feel ill on Tuesday/Wednesday. I tested neg wed, thurs, fri, sat on LFT. We’ve all tested pos this morning on nasal LFT, as I took a turn for the worse over night and felt nauseous and feverish. DP is triple jabbed and feeling much better than me despite the positive-were actually surprised he was pos as he is also just snotty now. Son is full of energy trapped in our tiny flat, just snotty. I’m only double jabbed so makes sense that I feel worse than DP (irony was my booster was due on Tuesday) .I’m self employed and this has shot my work to bits. I’ll only get 7 working days before f*** half term and inset days kick in. This is so stressful. Hope everyone gets better and is free soon Brew

Bigfathairyones · 30/01/2022 11:19

2 x day 8 in my household. Sorry OP

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 30/01/2022 11:28

Currently we are Day 11 since DP tested positive (Day 13 since first symptoms) and Day 4 since I tested positive (Day 6 since my first symptoms) and 17yo DS is still testing negative.

He's been around other people in the week who tested positive too.

He's double vaccinated but I'm amazed he's still clear (so is he!)

LifesTooShortYOLO · 30/01/2022 18:12

Are there anyone else still waiting to see if they test positive?
DS tested positive on Tuesday and today is day 5 and me and OH still negative.
Is there hope we have not caught it? Or is it likely we may still be positive?

Neverfittedin85 · 31/01/2022 11:16

Daughter tested positive on the 23rd .
1st negative today.
I've tested everyday since the 23rd and managed to stay negative.
Freedom tomorrow 🙌
