Single parent here.

DD unwell and tested positive on Monday.

No way of isolating from her at home, so I've been caring for/comforting her as normal.

I've tested negative everyday so far on a LFT...

Surely if I was going to get it, I would have got it by now?

What's been other people's experiences?

TIA

I tested positive on Saturday, my partner on Thursday

FawnFrenchieMum · 22/01/2022 21:54

DD tested positive Sunday, DH Monday. Me & DS negative all week and then the following Sunday we both tested positive. Sad

Doyourememberthetime · 22/01/2022 21:56

It can take up to 10 days to be infected

Theunamedcat · 22/01/2022 21:58

My sis avoided it the entire pandemic! Tested positive this morning

She lives alone and is single

Fingers crossed for everyone

My family and I were the same and tested positive last Saturday and Thursday respectively :(
Theunamedcat · 22/01/2022 22:59

I'm torn between acting like her sister and pointing and laughing (because she has rubbed it in a few times that I've had it and she hasnt) and concern because I'm still suffering after my last bout and I would rather she didn't suffer like me so I'm sympathetic offering support if she escapes the worst I will point and laugh (and she will expect me too)

theDudesmummy · 22/01/2022 23:02

Sorry but I have been negative for a week since DS's positive, and then tested positive today. I could not have got it from anyone else. DH tested negative this morning but positive this evening. So it can take a week for sure.

dumbledory · 23/01/2022 14:19

So if DD tested positive Monday, does that make this day 6??

Still negative...for now!

Unfortunately DD still testing positive on lateral flow and has a slight temp, so no chance of her leaving isolation early.

So have we until this week. None of my household or any close family have had it until DH tested positive on Wednesday.
TulipsGarden · 23/01/2022 15:56

I'm still negative! Son tested positive Tuesday (with hindsight probably ill from Sunday night, but had fever Monday night). Spent that night in his room. Been with him in isolation. Son negative on day 5 and 6 so now free. DP and I are both still negative. I don't understand how! 😁

I'm sure it'll

TulipsGarden · 23/01/2022 15:57

*I'm sure it'll get be soon regardless, but just so odd to have it in the house and remain negative.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 23/01/2022 17:17

It's a weird situation to be isn't it? In limbo.

DP is still testing positive (he's on Day 6) .
DS and I are testing daily but both still negative. Each morning though I find myself thinking "is this the day it comes up positive?".

I'm finding it odd trying to plan next week as there has to be a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C......depending on whether or not DP gets the all clear and whether or not I test positive. I've already cancelled my hair appointment for next week as I didn't want to leave my hairdresser in the lurch at the last minute or risk passing it on to her.

GrumpySausage · 23/01/2022 19:15

In similar boat. DS tested positive Tuesday evening, on day 5 at the moment and so far rest of us, including DD(3) still testing negative. DS negative on LFT already so can go back to school tomorrow.

Ds is 6 so I haven't isolated from him, cuddled as normal and he in fact coughed in my face whilst I did his positive LFT. DD was drinking from his bottle and they shared a bath this week.

I have had a headache today but my lft is negative and I often get headaches cos ya know, I've got kids and I haven't been out since Tuesday. Hoping the rest of us have avoided it.

dumbledory · 23/01/2022 19:16

@WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks

It's such a no man's land, isn't it?

Considerate of you to give your hairdresser notice, rather than risk cancelling at the last minute - sure she appreciated it.

DD still testing positive, so had to let my work know that I may not be back in until Friday (her isolation finishes Thursday) and that's if I don't come down with it myself. Not ideal in a new job, but know these things can't be helped and would rather plan for the worst case scenario than keep letting people down.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 23/01/2022 19:29

@dumbledory what makes the "no man's land" worse is that work didn't want me in when DP tested positive as they couldn't risk me wiping out the whole team if I'd gone in and then gone on to test positive/infect everyone.

I can't really work from home so have basically been stuck at home since Wednesday. I'm not sure if they've put me as sick or WFH so I've not wanted to go out to the supermarket or wherever in case I'm spotted Confused .

If I get it and have to be off (after a week off "just in case") I'm going to feel really guilty Blush

I had a mild headache for the while week while my kids had covid. It got noticeably stronger the night before I finally tested positive. Could have been something else causing it to start with, could have been anxiety of me knowing it was imminent, who knows.

NaturalBlue · 23/01/2022 19:46

I absolutely thought I'd got away with it, DD positive a week ago today - I was negative this morning, nose running a bit today, just tested again ten minutes ago and there's the bugger ... gutted

KatharinaRosalie · 23/01/2022 20:49

DD was looking a bit off colour this morning but still negative, not a hint of a line. Took her for a proper test in the afternoon and surprise surprise, of course she's positive as well. DS was positive on Wednesday. DH still negative but says he feels a bit funny so I bet he will have it tomorrow.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 23/01/2022 20:53

I was positive a week last Tuesday and DS tested positive exactly one week later and DH 3 days after that

GrumpySausage · 24/01/2022 08:00

My DS has tested negative day 5 & day 6 today so back to school this morning.

Rest of us still negative.....🤞🏻

ShakespearesSisters · 24/01/2022 08:24

DD2 tested positive Tuesday morning, had a temperature in middle of night (5 cases in her class at that point), me. DH and DD1 negative so carried on with school/work. DD1 bit of sore throat Wednesday so collected from school. Negative ltf, all tested again Thursday morning. She had the faintest positive. I had a strong positive. DH had a slight sore throat but every LTF coming back negative so PCR yesterday (sunday) its come back positive in the last 20 mins, but LTF taken at 7am was negative.

dumbledory · 24/01/2022 11:41

@WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks
Whilst I understand where your work are coming from, not sure if they were right to effectively ban you from work...just in case...but that's the decision they've made. You are not to feel guilty if you end up needing more time off - sure they would have factored it in, if they're that concerned...

@NaturalBlue
Oh no! It's a week today since DD tested positive and my LFT this morning is still negative and praying it stays that way! Hope you're ok and not feeling too poorly with it.

DD still testing positive and running a slight temp, so no chance of us escaping isolation before her ten days are up, I think.

NaturalBlue · 24/01/2022 12:18

I'm feeling fine thankfully
I hope you stay clear!

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 24/01/2022 19:03

I was convinced today was the day I'd get a positive as I felt awful during the night and this morning (really, really sore throat, headache etc) but it was negative.

(a week since DP's first symptoms and 5 days since his positive)

KatharinaRosalie · 24/01/2022 20:28

DH still negative, well this is taking its time. We have not isolated anybody at home in any way so he has certainly been exposed plenty with 3 positive people in the house.
