Itchy red spots that look like insect bites

MrsBudd · 12/01/2022 19:11

I have had a few red spots pop up over the last couple of weeks on my torso, legs and arms. They are itchy. A quick Google suggests this might be a sign of Omicron - has this been the case for anyone on here? I have no other symptoms but I can't recall being bitten by anything and wouldn't normally get insect bites this time of year, so I'm curious!

There is also something called Pityriasis Rosea which is an itchy rash on the torso, arms and legs which starts with a larger spot if you are negative.

niceupthedanceagain · 13/01/2022 06:05

I've had an allergy type itchy rash on my scalp, neck and back - thought it was new shampoo but it's still going (slightly less now). Had routine pcr for work Sunday it was negative.

CHEM20 · 13/01/2022 06:32

I had a very itch rash like you describe after my vaccine. GP thought it was probably related. Took weeks to go (and randomly, my ankles are still v itchy even though I didn’t see a rash there, just further up my legs).

@MrsBudd I
Hope your ok please keep us updated

Ecosralayce · 13/01/2022 07:01

I had very similar in July 2020. Had a negative pcr test, but did wait a while to take that so who know. It was horrendous. So, so itchy. I hardly slept for over a week. nothing really helped (vreams, lotions, steroid cream, antihistmaines) took about 3 moths to go fully. I was actually really unwell with it.
Still no idea what it was (took weeks to get a phonecall with GP which was useles so I gave up!)

My mum has this. Spoken to the pharmacist, he said it's a response to the vaccine

MrsBudd · 13/01/2022 07:13

Interesting that it could be a response to vaccine. I had my Pfizer booster on the 17th Dec.

I had a nasty viral rash when I had (what I assume was) delta. I'll try to find a pic to see if that helps you.

ParadiseLaundry · 13/01/2022 07:19

The first one was my back and the second my thigh.

DF had an itchy red spot rash with confirmed Covid. Started on his arms and spread to trunk and groin. 3wks on he still has it but it is fading now.
I wonder if it is just a viral reaction?
DF managed his with antihistamine cream.

My skin has been terrible since my first vaccine in May. Rash, itchy, scaly, bumpy, now broken out and scabby. This is all over, back, front, arms, legs etc. I’ve had steroid tablets, various creams, antihistamine and allergy test.

Doctors now think it’s highly likely that it’s a response to the vaccine as everything else has been ruled out. I’ve been referred to dermatology now as this has been ongoing for 6 months! It’s terrible. Affects my sleep, my confidence, my exercise as I can’t get too hot without it itching more. I feel for anyone going through this

Tinseltrauma · 13/01/2022 08:42

I started with a really itchy rash on my chest, spread from my throat to my hips, but weirdly just on the front of my body. Felt like thousands of ants biting me. Tested positive later that day. I'd had my vaccine back in September so it wasn't a reaction to that . I still have it three weeks on but now just a patch on my side. It's driving me mad!

Crackingowlsanctuary · 13/01/2022 08:49

I had an itchy hive type rash come and go when I had Covid in December. Started a couple of days after i tested positive and only lasted a few days. Annoying but not enough to have to treat it with anything. I had itchy scalp, slight rash and itching tops of arms/shoulders/legs. The soles of my feet also itched on and off for a few days 🤔

SulisMinerva · 13/01/2022 08:50

These itchy spots were a symptom in our household when Covid positive.

Jisforjelly · 13/01/2022 08:52

When we all had covid in 2020 my son had this , we thought he had chicken pox but must have been the covid.

RunningInTheWind · 13/01/2022 09:02

Yes! I’m covered in these - except face, hands and feet. The itching is driving me insane. Negative LFT. No allergies

Mickarooni · 13/01/2022 18:05

I posted last night and this had me utterly convinced it was Covid but I had 2 negative LFTs and saw my GP. I have shingles.

MrsBudd · 13/01/2022 21:46

Oh no @Mickarooni, hope you're better soon. Negative here. Another spot has appeared though...

i've had few spots appear on my neck and chest. I'm a week post my booster so wondering if this is vaccine related. Very itchy !!

Luckymummytoone · 14/01/2022 14:22

I had some on my arm about 3/4 days before my lft showed positive x

Sleepyteach · 14/01/2022 17:27

My daughter had scarlet fever over Christmas and came out in an itchy rash, we called 111 and they said no one would see her without a negative PCR, (despite multiple negative LFTs) so it’s clearly a thing. (We ended up in A&E before her negative result came through)

MrsBudd · 16/01/2022 06:55

Interesting. Mine are still appearing 😑

DriftGames · 16/01/2022 06:58

I've had this on and off for about a month.. had it when I stayed away too so not bed bugs or anything from home. Only me, DH & DD nothing - all tests negative. I had covid in august 21. How weird.

MrsBudd · 16/01/2022 07:40

@DriftGames are you vaccinated? I'm wondering if it's a reaction to the booster I had mid December...

I've been Googling furiously, and I am starting to think mine might be scabies Shock

If it is, I've no idea where I might have picked it up
