Itchy red spots that look like insect bites

I have had a few red spots pop up over the last couple of weeks on my torso, legs and arms. They are itchy. A quick Google suggests this might be a sign of Omicron - has this been the case for anyone on here? I have no other symptoms but I can't recall being bitten by anything and wouldn't normally get insect bites this time of year, so I'm curious!

I have this as well! No idea what it is - I thought I had a rash but really itchy, especially at night and small bumps. I don't think they are bites and don't have bed bugs or anything to explain it. I happen to have done some lateral flows regularly but all negative

Oh that is weird.. I’m covered head to toe almost in a weird rash / hives like thing. It has calmed down a bit after I took an antihistamine.
I’m TERRIFIED of bed bugs and having to get rid of the mattress, get the carpets treated, boil wash everything… ! Seems unlikely though as no one else in the house has this.

MrsBudd · 12/01/2022 19:26

I have been checking the cats for fleas and nothing. Also checked bed and no sign of bed bugs. Again no one else in the house has them so unlikely to be that. How weird. Mine are more itchy at night too.

Yes, when I had covid I initially thought the Airbnb I was in had fleas or something, first signs were like insect bites. Ended up covered in really bad hives, swollen face/eyes/lips and in A&E for sterioids.

MrsBudd · 12/01/2022 19:43

Oh crikey @flapjacker48. Hope you're better now. I will have to keep an eye on it 😑

*Delta Blush

Flapjacker48 · 12/01/2022 19:52

@MrsBudd Fine now. This was back in July, so likely Alpha/Delta?

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/01/2022 19:52

I had itchy spots on my scalp and then came out in hives

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/01/2022 19:53

Just had covid

OliveTree75 · 12/01/2022 20:05

I've had this too. I was covered in extremely itchy spots that looked like hives last week. I've never been allergic to anything in my life so dont think it was that. I also had a bad cold at the time but I tested negative on a lft and pcr. When i went into the chemists about it he said have you done a covid test as they are seeing peoole with rashes that turn out covid positive.

Coincidentally when I did have covid last year I had very itchy spots on my back.

MrsBudd · 12/01/2022 21:19

Interesting to hear all these similar stories!

Are you sure it's not shingles?

NigellaAwesome · 12/01/2022 22:18

I have the same at the moment. Bumpy rash on my scalp. Then it moved to below my throat, in a large red, inflamed itchy streak all along my collar bones, and now it has started down one side of my face. Antihistamines and hydrocortisone aren't helping.

Go has prescribed an emollient and medicated shampoo/ body wash

Choccymumma · 12/01/2022 22:20

Yep, woke up to my arm being covered in really hot, itchy, hive type spots. Washed the bed sheets, deflead the cats and 2 days later I tested positive.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/01/2022 22:52

Funnily enough I've come out in itchy spots on my legs tonight.

Both times I've had covid I've ended up with months of really bad hives though. I read its quite common

Mickarooni · 12/01/2022 23:11

How weird I’ve got the same!

Frazzled2207 · 12/01/2022 23:17

I had this when I think I had covid in early December
I never got a positive lft but dh and ds had it and it mysterious arrived between both of them testing postitive and stayed for a week
Fairly sure we had delta though

pumpkinpieintheski · 12/01/2022 23:39

I've got this at the moment. So so itchy - coved in little bites. Have been worrying it's bed bugs as stayed in a b n b at the weekend but more spots appearing all the time. How strange. Going to test tomorrow.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/01/2022 23:41

I wasn't able to link but if you Google it there's nhs links that say people with covid have experienced itchy rashes, hives and what looks like nettle rash

User6397254 · 13/01/2022 03:03

Adult DS had a positive PCR and LFT at Christmas his only symptom was a mild hive type rash all over, he took a test because he was a contact.

MrsBudd · 13/01/2022 05:45

Going to do an LFT this morning. Itching is driving me mad.

@CrunchyCarrot I hadn't thought about shingles. Hopefully not...

Shingles are usually in one area of either the torso face or legs not all of them, I did have a small patch of shingles about a week after my Moderna jab, a couple of cm below my left breast and googled it extensively.
