Here we go again….menstrual cycle disruption after booster!

Had booster in early dec. Period was due 2 days after, which came as usual.

This month, I had the usual cramps and PMT on cycle day 26/27. Then…..nothing. I’m now on cycle day 33 and no sign. I feel uncomfortable but there is no sign of anything starting. This happened after my second jab too when I ended up with almost a 40 day cycle when I am usually 28 days like clockwork.

So. Fed. Up.

Why are people / health authorities pretending this doesn’t happen???

Absolutely which is why I'm not having my booster. I'm TTC and that's my priority right now so the booster can sod off quite frankly!!

Of course it matters to a lot of women, this side effect has been so well reported, periods stopping, late, bleeds after menopause. Surely that can’t be right, have other vaccines caused issues with periods before?

Yep my period was over a week late after the booster. If I was ttc I might have reconsidered but I'm 42 and that shop has sailed!

I didn't have the issue with my first two but the booster I had 7th December and my period only turned up this week - day 40 - I'm normally 28 days.

Of course it does! Irregular periods are normally considered a concern to be investigated. With 3 vaccines and boosters in 6 months that has meant months of irregular periods for a lot of women. And they still don't list it as one of the side effects or talk about it more. Hormones dictate so much of our day to day wellness, it's bonkers that it's been downplayed so much. Pretty sure if we were telling men that they could expect months of not being able to ejaculate or maintain an erection, there'd be riots in the street.

Of course it matters. It matters less to me than in the years I was ttc and lives my life by menstrual symptoms, but it still does matter a lot that I can’t predict it.

My cycles became shorter after my (2x Pfizer) initial vaccinations but my first period since my moderna booster has been 28 days for the first time in months.

@Dollygirl2008 of course it matters! It’s been instilled in us that our periods are an indicator of overall health and hormonal balance. And the discomfort I’m feeling now I shouldn’t have to endure. Yes, I know the vaccines are important, I’d never dismiss that. But what is being swept under the carpet is this. If men suddenly got hugely constipated surely there would be made more of it??!!

It certainly matters if lots of women and girls are reporting this side effect and it's not being recorded! How can an effect on the health of 50% of recipients not be collected/recorded as a side effect?

It's also likely that many women that don't have regular, like clockwork periods just haven't even picked up that the vaccines have affected their cycle. I'm the age where periods are a bit haywire anyway. My periods after my two vaccines (AZ) were completely as usual, and around when I'd expect. After my booster (Pfizer) my period has been extremely light. I put it down to stress/peri-menopause, but how would I know?

Similarly, my teenaged DD doesn't have regular periods yet, no way to tell if either of her vaccines have affected her menstruation.

I had my booster last week and my period has come 4 days early. Doesn't sound like much but I'm usually really on time, like I could probably work it out due to the hour haha!

I've had a lot of vaccinations, as I travelled around the world for years. Whilst my cycle was irregular, I was lucky enough not to get any of the horrific illnesses the countries I visited would have hit my unprotected/adjusted immune system with. I've got two healthy, happy lively children years after my travels and am grateful for the antibodies that kept me and subsequently my children healthy. You can't blame vaccinations for period delays, as stressing about it is more likely to be the cause.

They aren't pretending it doesn't happen. There is loads of ongoing research about the transient cycle disruptions.

Even if there is a hint that the powers that be are acknowledging this is happening, there is no explanation as to what the mechanism of why this is happening. Anything disrupting menstrual cycles should be of concern to everyone.

Does covid cause the same disruption?

There's been posts about it before the vaccines existed so I would guess it's a covid thing rather than a covid vaccine thing.

All these symptoms should be reported via the yellow card scheme

The article linked to in the BMJ has the hypothesis that it's somehow connected to an immune reaction in the cells in the lining of the uterus which would seem logical. Thankfully no link with fertility has been found.

Covid disrupts the cycle too. Mine went weird both times I had covid, and the first one was before any jabs. Not trying to drown anyone's concern, just if it helps reassure anyone.

I find your post very dismissive. I was vaccinated very early on in the programme. I had hideously heavy and painful periods after my vaccine and I was sent for investigations. I had non stop bleeding for weeks at a time. This was before it started to become common knowledge. It wasn’t stress, I was very pleased and grateful to have been vaccinated.

OP so glad I've seen this post. I'm the opposite though I had my booster just before I started my period it came as normal and now I've been on for 12 days! I'm honestly sick of it now.

Silly women, you don’t know your own bodies. It’s probably just stress or you just are more aware of it because it’s in the media. Pipe down, now. I had extremely heavy bleeding post my first vaccine before it was discussed in the mainstream media. I’ve had periods for over 2 decades, I know when something has changed.

I can honestly say that nothing has changed for me after each vaccine or after the booster. Mine are heavy anyway but cycle length has not been disrupted. Is there any way to see how many women have reported via the yellow card system?

Yes! At the very least they can put it on the leaflet so people aren't left wondering what on earth is going on.

No booster for me because ttc and after second dose period came on day 50!
