Anyone know when children 5yr+ meeting the green book criteria are likely to be able to book in for vaccination please?
JCVI recommended on the 23rd Dec. Are we just waiting for Government to sign off on it?

DH found some updated directive online earlier that had been issued earlier this week so hopefully the appointments are starting in earnest and you'll hear something soon.

Was it this?

No. It was this. If my recollection is sound then the GPs can't act without the PGD.

I got this reply from the PCN today:

5yr+ CEV Vaccines
PastMyBestBeforeDate · 27/01/2022 20:26

That's hopeful then Miles. It's moving towards vaccines in arms slowly.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 27/01/2022 20:40

Woooooo hooo my 8 year old (cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus) has had the call and he is getting jabbed on Monday!!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 27/01/2022 21:14

Oh fantastic Foo :)

pinkpip100 · 27/01/2022 21:29

That does all sound very hopeful - and brilliant news those of you who have managed to book your dc's vaccinations.

paradyning · 27/01/2022 22:00

More great news!! I really hope it all comes soon for all of us.
It feels like a race against time.

It does finally seem to be happening!

My daughter isn't CEV: I am. It's probably too complicated, but I think they should obvs jab the CEV children first, then the ones from CEV households.

Thanks to all of you with vulnerable kids.

adulthumanfemalemum · 28/01/2022 07:36

It's so ridiculous when other countries are already vaccinating all 5-11 year olds. My friend has a CEV 8 year old and they have literally been living in fear and isolation for two years. This is a child who has previously been hospitalised from complications from a common cold.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 01/02/2022 12:25

Well FooBoy had his injection yesterday evening he's feeling a little unwell and has a very sore arm (can't lift or move it much) bit of a bugger being a wheelchair user he said he'd just go round in circles 😂)
So we are having a couple of days at home to recover. ( plus a third of his class now confirmed as Covid!!!!)

enterparentone · 01/02/2022 12:41

Congratulations!
Which area are you? Where we are not offering til Friday but doc will write us a letter if we can find somewhere to do it earlier. Lots of cases at DD school too Sad

paradyning · 01/02/2022 12:58

That's brilliant!! I'm still waiting to hear

So exciting to see some people getting their jabs; our GP has put a post on Facebook saying 'don't call us, we'll call you' abo it 5-11 year old jabs. So I'm holding tight but very impatient about it.

Montecristocount · 01/02/2022 14:43

I’ve had a message saying as I’m CEV any children in my household can can the jab now. Just ring the surgery to arrange.

Where in UK are you pls ?
Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 01/02/2022 16:11

I'm in South Yorkshire for those that asked. It says on the blurb it'll be his second jab three weeks from first as it's different medication

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/02/2022 16:14

Excellent Foo. Hope he's wheeling straight soon.

enterparentone · 01/02/2022 16:21

Thanks! Hmmm don't think I can do a day trip from the SE...wouldn't mind a holiday though!
Pleased for you he's got it! Smile

gogohm · 01/02/2022 16:24

My gp has put a Facebook message out and texted everyone whose listed as vulnerable on their books (dd is) to say that we should call to book in 5-11 year olds and there's a clinic the Wednesday and next in our town (12-15 year olds also can book in) definitely happening now. We have no under 18's so it's a blanket text message

Gardengates · 01/02/2022 16:27

Just throwing my 2p worth, I'm in France where Covid vaccine was made available for all 5-11 on 23 Dec. I booked early on but got appointments for 14 Feb.

It is a specific kids vaccine, only Pfizer available AFAIK and I was told that supply delays have been the issue so probably the same in the UK.

We have only had about 3% take-up so they have definitely not been overwhelmed by demand

enterparentone · 01/02/2022 16:41

If anyone who has heard is in the SE pls let me know! Thanks

BeyondBujos · 01/02/2022 16:48

In Wales, had a phone call today booking my two in for the weekend

rainbowdashsneeze · 01/02/2022 17:42

My Surgery rang me Friday to arrange my DD but I've refused it.
