Anyone with a cold that isn't Omicron?

Day 4 of headache, very slight sore throat and no other symptoms.
LFDs all negative, waiting for PCR, triple jabbed.
Have a very special occasion next Sunday and I'm willing a Negative Swab.
Could it be just a cold? The Zoe app seems to think it's unlikely.

DH and DD1 developed cold-like symptoms which were very similar to DD2’s Covid, and their symptoms started a few days after her positive PCR, so we were convinced they had caught it from her. However, they’ve been doing daily LFDs since her positive PCR, which are all negative, and did their own PCRs a couple of days ago, which were both negative too. Seems very odd but presumably all these multiple negatives mean it’s a coincidental cold!

So there might be hope for you! 🤞🙂

jackstini · 01/01/2022 15:02

Me
Had it about 3 days now, sneezing, dry cough, sore throat, runny nose but negative lfts

Wigeon · 01/01/2022 15:03

@jackstini - it might still be covid - DD2 had a sniffle and slight sore throat which started on Xmas eve, but tested negative on LFDs on xmas eve, xmas day, Boxing Day, and finally got a positive LFD on the day after Boxing Day…

Pucarbuile · 01/01/2022 15:06

Ds has had a mild cold for two weeks now, every test is negative. Three others of us in the house are positive within that time so no idea why he's still not caught it 🤷‍♀️

jackstini · 01/01/2022 15:11

@Wigeon yes agree. I found some of the older nose and throat tests so going to try that tomorrow as they are more sensitive I think

breadwidow · 01/01/2022 15:15

Yes, had 2 colds in December. Had PCR tests both times, negative.

2pinkginsplease · 01/01/2022 15:16

Me I've had cold symptoms on and off for about a month. Negative pcr and also negative lft's.

NotImpossible · 01/01/2022 15:17

Yep. Neg PCR and 2 lfts. Sore throat, cough, mucus, sneezes, tiredness. Noy all at once! Typical cold symptoms.

HunterJay · 01/01/2022 15:22

Yes. My son and then me, both negative PCRs. Runny nose, sneezing, sore throat.

Of course there are people with just normal colds. It's winter.

RedSnail · 01/01/2022 15:36

I have a bad cold. Negative LFTs and negative PCR. Started Boxing Day with an itchy throat, followed by headache, general aches, fatigue, hoarse voice, snotty, sneezes… day 7 today and I’m still totally wiped out.

XingMing · 01/01/2022 15:42

There is a nasty cold/cough making the rounds, almost mild flu. DH has it, and has been feeling terrible for five days so far.

KiloWhat · 01/01/2022 15:44

Yes cold/flu. Its nasty. But keep doing lfts just in case

Autumn101 · 01/01/2022 15:46

DS2 has a horrid cold/flu bug - started day after Boxing Day and he’s still struggling. Zero appetite, aches, shivers, exhausted and a bad cough. LFTs negative and PCR yesterday was negative. None of the rest have it so far…….

maya71 · 01/01/2022 15:48

Yes, ds had a horrid cold last week. Negative PCR.

SNUG2022 · 01/01/2022 15:49

Me and dh. A week now. Its been bloody awful. I bet covid is less than this! (Hopes) Absolutely shocked at negative pcr. Constantly lfting, but all negative.

HailAdrian · 01/01/2022 15:51

Meee, headache, exhaustion, sore throat, lots of 'close contacts' but repeated negative LFTs!

Thepineapplemystery · 01/01/2022 16:22

Our house has been full of 1 cold or another since mid November. I had a particularly nasty one in November, daughter had a bad one before Christmas. Several PCRs, all negative.

Cookerhood · 01/01/2022 16:25

Yes, DD had a nasty cold. Negative LFTs every day for 10 days, two negative PCRs 5 days apart.

LadyPenelope68 · 01/01/2022 16:27

I’ve had a cold and an absolutely hacking cough, temperature and headache since Christmas Eve. All lateral flow tests still negative and 3 PCR’s all negative.

Siuan · 01/01/2022 16:34

Yes. Started with sore throat, then after 3 days a runny nose, then a cough. DH had it the week before and was negative on LFT and PCR so I was confident it was just a cold. Did LFT on day 2 and PCR when I started coughing both negative.

It's a very mild cold and having had covid there were no similarities whatsoever. Even the cough was different.

StrangeAddiction · 01/01/2022 17:00

Db now has a cold, he very rarely goes out unless it's to the shops, he saw his dad who has a cold on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. His dad works in the food industry so has to test regularly and has been testing negative as has db.

Dd has now started with a sore throat and is so far testing negative, the only people she's been near with cold symptoms are db and his dad.

Dr John on YouTube seems to think it's a 50/50 chance your "cold" is actually omicron.

XingMing · 01/01/2022 17:58

An in-law's family wedding has spread COVID to 65% of the guests on one table and all of them feel better than the people with this cold!

negomi90 · 01/01/2022 18:03

Yep - had the sniffles for a few days, then snot and fever started christmas day, PCR taken on boxing day negative. Much better now, but I saw a relative today who thought I sounded sick and I'm still periodically hacking gunk from my lungs.

Mokoloko · 01/01/2022 18:05

Had flu like symptoms that started Boxing Day night for two days-felt terrible! Then the worst cold followed immediately after which I still have with the worst cough.
The worst I've felt for a long time! Negative lft every day and negative pcr so definitely now know it's not covid!

maa32 · 01/01/2022 18:06

US! Negative PCRs all round, twice. DH has visibly positive LFTs every day but negative PCR. All been really sick over Christmas Sad
