Anyone with a cold that isn't Omicron?

WhistleMyTuneLoudly · 01/01/2022 14:58

Day 4 of headache, very slight sore throat and no other symptoms.
LFDs all negative, waiting for PCR, triple jabbed.
Have a very special occasion next Sunday and I'm willing a Negative Swab.
Could it be just a cold? The Zoe app seems to think it's unlikely.

It was covid here too.
The LFT lit up like a Christmas tree though. No mistaking that.

Whitefire · 01/01/2022 18:09

I've had a cough for three weeks, negative PCR and numerous LFT's. I feel dreadful and am waking at night coughing really badly.

lilyborderterrier · 01/01/2022 18:11

I had an awlful cold the last week of term ( just before the Christmas holidays. Started with a sore throat, developed into a headache then a cough, I felt rough. I tested myself everyday and always negative. It knocked me out but thankfully it went on Christmas Eve. All Tests clear to enjoy Christmas and new year.

WhistleMyTuneLoudly · 01/01/2022 18:16

Thanks all. Hoping to get the PCR result some time tomorrow so will report back.

We have all had a cold with pretty typical cold symptoms for each of us (sore throat, runny nose, blocked nose, chesty cough, tired), all testing negative. The two friends that have had Omicron have both had headaches as their only symptom and were both surprised when they tested positive. What’s typical for you when you have a cold? Does it tend to affect your sinuses and give you a headache?

PinkButtercups · 01/01/2022 18:29

I've had a sore throat for 3 days. Partner and DS + and I've only just shown up positive.

PinkButtercups · 01/01/2022 18:30

To add, my ached started behind my knees last night and slight headache. DS's started with a runny nose so I tested him and bam no mistaking that LFT.

Munchkin08 · 01/01/2022 21:06

I have had a terrible cold, streaming eyes, cough, runny nose, but no headache or sore throat. Negative LFT and PCR.

Munchkin08 · 01/01/2022 21:08

Son had Covid but wasn't living at our house in December. Had a cough/headache/aches - I was worse 🤣

Troublesometooth · 01/01/2022 21:09

I’ve just had a cold that’s lasted 3 weeks and I still don’t feel right. Multiple negative tests, and I had covid in October. This has been much worse!

ExcaliburBaby · 01/01/2022 21:23

Yes me. Started on Christmas Day evening. Went for PCR on Boxing Day which was negative. LFT negative throughout. Sore throat, blocked then runny nose, tired, sinus pressure, headache. Was convinced it would be Covid but apparently not

BowiesJumper · 01/01/2022 21:37

Yes me. I’ve had sneezing, sore throat, thickly cough and tiredness. Made worse by the fact my husband currently has Covid, so I though I definitely did too. But daily lft’s are negative, as was the PCR I did 2 days ago.

thymetologout · 01/01/2022 21:45

Yes I have an awful cold that is far worse than my experience of covid. It's completely wiped me out for the past 8 days, and I don't feel like I'm on the mend yet.

MakkaPakkas · 01/01/2022 21:59

I've just got over a bad cold that was not covid. Negative PCR test.

HappyAsASandboy · 01/01/2022 22:01

Yes, all six of us have had a cold for the whole school holidays. Negative PCRs near start of school holidays and negative LFTs mid way through.

A could makes it hard to go anywhere. Any slight cough and you can feel the eyes swivel to you!

TitoMojito · 01/01/2022 22:29

I would wait for the PCR. I've been testing negative on LFTs but have now tested positive on a PCR. I have sore throat, stuffy nose, etc.

AutumnDance · 01/01/2022 23:45

Are you all taking supplements and drink g plenty of fluids - for those who are not feeling well with bad colds?

I take a range of supplements everyday. I had a cold back in October. Started on a Saturday and eased by Tuesday evening/Wednesday.

I can only attribute it to the vitamins and minerals I take every day. It was so quick and mild. Its said vitamin D is supposed to help with many things including infections and severity of infections.

Mokoloko · 02/01/2022 06:36

@AutumnDance
Yes I also take vitamin d,c and zinc. I do have low white blood cells which has probably contributed to this monster virus I have!

beentoldcomputersaysno · 02/01/2022 09:29

I've had a cold unlike any other I've had. I've not had any of the sneezing or dripping nose. I feel extra congested, can't seem to shift the cough, v fatigued, occasionally sick, one night of fever. Negative lfts and pcr.

BewareTheRedNosedDragon · 02/01/2022 10:46

Of course there are other viruses around still, and they're hitting harder than usual as our immune systems will have been hampered by less exposure to general germs etc.

I have had a sore throat and cough for over a month (which is fairly standard for me in winter tbf), negative PCR, multiple negative LFT.

Fingers crossed for you.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 02/01/2022 11:05

Friend and her family all started displaying cold symptoms on Boxing Day. They were all doing LFT's and were negative. Husband and child stopped testing after 3 days but my friend continued. She finally tested positive on NYE! Husband and child took tests again and still testing negative 🤷🏼‍♀️

SpringheelJack · 02/01/2022 12:14

Started with a scratchy throat and snuffles on the evening of Christmas Eve. LFTs had been negative but got a PCR - negative. Has been a rotten cold, but just regular disease!

WhistleMyTuneLoudly · 03/01/2022 10:34

Reporting back with a negative PCR. It took 48 hours.
Happy to have a cold!

Same here. I'm on day 11 and still feel rough. DH is about 3 weeks in and it is so bad I've forced him to spend the day in bed.

He had covid about 6 weeks prior to catching this. This is 100 times worse. I think we have all lost our immunity to colds due to lock downs.

Buzzinwithbez · 06/01/2022 10:33

I had 3 days of sinusitis. It was covid but no idea if Omicron or delta.
