Has anyone actually tested negative on day 6 and 7?

My day 6 and 7 is Wednesday and Thursday. I tested a very strong immediate positive last week and now they’re very slow and faint but definitely positive still.

Missed out on Christmas Day and lots of family time with my toddler and partner. Really hoping I can get New Year’s Day with family.

Do faint positives mean the virus is sort of on its way out…? Has anyone tested negative on day 6/7?

Obviously no idea but suspected I has that new variant as symptoms have been a mild-moderate cold.

DS2 was still faint positive on day 6 but negative day 7 and 8.

Cookerhood · 28/12/2021 14:00

Our positive person was negative on day 6 (or day 5 depending on if you backdate the start to the symptoms they now think they may have had the day before). Today is either day 6 or 7 & they are negative again. They were also negative until after the PCR was positive btw so I'm assuming a fairly low viral load throughout.

Bringithome · 28/12/2021 14:01

Yes my son was negative from day 6 onwards

theneverendinglaundry · 28/12/2021 14:01

Day 6 and 7 is Wednesday and Thursday for us too. I would love them all to be negative so we can enjoy what is left of the holidays.

Grumpysister · 28/12/2021 14:02

Yes both my DSs were negative days 6 and 7

Claretmum · 28/12/2021 14:03

Yes hubby has just tested negative on day 6 and 7. I did one out of curiosity (day 4) and I'm still a blazing line. It has hit me alot harder than it hit him though.

PodcastFunFair · 28/12/2021 14:04

My dh on day 7 and still faint positive so far

Changemaname1 · 28/12/2021 14:06

Been wondering this ! Two days away for me to test to release early and still very strong positive 😔

IsThisNameTaken · 28/12/2021 14:07

No, I was still faint positive on day 9 so had to do the full 10 days

SweatyTulip · 28/12/2021 14:09

Help! V interested in this thread. I was feintly positive at 10am on day 6 so did another at 6pm that day which was definitely negative. Day 7 today and I got positive at 10am again 😭 No symptoms for at least 3 days, and even then, only a very very mild cold. I want to disregard the 10am today and try again at 6pm as it's supposed to be 24 hours apart anyway. Wwyd?

Redlocks28 · 28/12/2021 14:10

I know the guidance says testing negative on day 6/7 allows an ‘early release’ but what if you’re positive in day 6, but negative on day 7/8? Do you still wait till day 10?

WreckTangled · 28/12/2021 14:11

No. As long as you have two negative tests 24 hours apart you get early release Grin (according to the t&t man who phoned me this morning).
Itonlytakesonetree · 28/12/2021 14:11

All my LFTs have been negative, despite a positive PCR, so I feel obliged to do the 10 days just in case.

Minikievs · 28/12/2021 14:11

I am day 6 from test (8 from symptoms) and massively positive today still.
Came up immediately and strongly.
I'm going to go from 10 days from symptoms and so my children are coming back Thursday.
I think I'll still actually be testing positive by then.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 28/12/2021 14:11

Dd1 and dh clear by day 7. Dd3 was still positive until day 10.

Tifalockhart · 28/12/2021 14:13

Yes I was negative on day 6 but no way did I feel well enough to leave the house that day and still don’t now on day 11

ancientgran · 28/12/2021 14:14

DD wasn't negative until day 8 and 9. First we realised she couldn't come for Christmas as she was positive then it was maybe she'd come when the rules changed, day six positive, day seven positive, finally she got here. Played havoc with my Christmas shopping, changed my online order 3 times and in the end it wasn't exactly spot on.

trying29 · 28/12/2021 14:18

I’m day 8 and only just negative today. I know 4 other school mums with it and no one was negative on day 6 or 7.
Incidentally this is my second bout of covid in 6 months and no one else in my household has tested positive.I’d assumed this meant I had a low viral load - I have not been isolating from them

They have to be 24 hours apart so I would personally disregard that 10am test and try later this evening. Good luck x
Pushing30 · 28/12/2021 15:01

I was negative yesterday (day 6 for me) I've got to wait till about 5 to see if I'm also negative today.

Autumnalblooms · 28/12/2021 15:09

Nope day 7 for me and still came strong positive 😭 I Just want to get back to normal and get back to work .

JessicaPeach · 28/12/2021 15:20

Took until day 9 for me, my husband was negative on day 6. I had a much milder dose than him too, felt great by day 3, I couldn't believe I kept testing positive for all that time

Flippydip · 28/12/2021 16:12

DS was negative on day 6 and 7 and also totally asymptomatic.

Nomorecoco · 28/12/2021 16:31

My dp just has, but mine are still strong. I don't know my first day though so just following his.

SantaMonicaPier · 28/12/2021 17:27

As a related question do we need to report negative LTFs on day 6 and 7? Which are actually day 8 and 9 for me. I entered the first test result on the Gov website but it didn't send me a code to input into my Covid app
