Presumably today the dashboard will resume. Is there an announcement planned or just rumours so far?

The rumour is Boris is reviewing the data today. Presumably with someone who doesn’t have to remove their socks to count to 20. And will make a decision from there.

I’m guessing that decision will be leaked during the day. We’ll know more then.

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 07:35

Is there more lockdowns?

Spider I think that was the original rumour, but since then we seem to have had various stories about omicron and it being milder, therefore the plan may well have changed.

We don't know yet but it's looking unlikely.
Wilma55 · 27/12/2021 07:38

Just heard on radio 4 that no cabinet meeting has yet been called.

I don't have a crystal ball.

We haven't seen the data for two days.

Given that hospital admissions data lags 4 days behind the positive case numbers, then what should be included today is the number of admissions from when it hit over 100,000 cases. That might be the important indicator. Because it'll show if the predictions of 'mild' are indeed producing a disease mild enough for the 'smaller percentage of a much larger number' not to matter

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 07:43

I don't have a crystal ball. sorry yes I know. It's just normally someone somewhere has said something before the conference.

Maybe it's a bit early? How quickly can they assemble?
LynetteScavo · 27/12/2021 07:46

When will data for the past two days be announced?

I think I love you @Motorina Xmas Grin
MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/12/2021 07:49

if you see what wales, n ireland and scotland are doing, and consider that we may or may not do similar.
but it doesnt look like proper lockdown - just rule of six. etc,

Bordois · 27/12/2021 07:55

then what should be included today is the number of admissions from when it hit over 100,000 cases

Although, there are also signs that people going to hospital are being discharged a lot more quickly than they were previously, so any admission figures need to be looked at in conjunction with figures of those in hospital

PurpleDaisies · 27/12/2021 07:56

God knows.

Depends on how rubbish the data is.

It's becoming a new tradition for these threads - it wouldn't be the same without the phrase!

Data will be lumpy for a few days yet - two Bank Hols as well as Christmas weekend, many people off their usual routines. My guess is that there will be decisions today on need for any further measures only if there's a really clear picture emerging. If there is any wiggle room at all, then I think they'd want to wait for more settled data

Justcannotbearsed · 27/12/2021 07:56

The telegraph, usual source of leaks, is all over the place today, but it seems very unlikely there’ll be any harsh restrictions, but the worry seems to be schools and lack of teachers come 4th January.

Boris has backed himself into a corner and Tory MPs won’t vote for anything harsh restriction wise. It’ll be more nudging towards’ stay at home if you are worried’

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 07:57

Ah that's a point the data won't be very clear for a bit I guess.

Really? I hope you wear slip-on shoes 😉

Flapjacker48 · 27/12/2021 08:02

No press conference as Parliament would have had to been recalled to approve new restrictions.

Tabbacus · 27/12/2021 08:03

Let's hope not. Also curious about the data reviews seen as though hospitals only give them how many in hospital are positive rather than if they are in because of covid, and the death toll isn't exactly accurate. I find it fascinating how much some people seem to monitor the levels themselves at home though when they're published, I wonder what they'll obsess about next?

forcedfun · 27/12/2021 08:05

I imagine even with socks removed he gets lost sometimes Grin
