Presumably today the dashboard will resume. Is there an announcement planned or just rumours so far?

@Justcannotbearsed

The telegraph, usual source of leaks, is all over the place today, but it seems very unlikely there’ll be any harsh restrictions, but the worry seems to be schools and lack of teachers come 4th January.

Boris has backed himself into a corner and Tory MPs won’t vote for anything harsh restriction wise. It’ll be more nudging towards’ stay at home if you are worried’

Yeah, as things stand the backbenchers aren't going to accept anything significant.
BellaChagall · 27/12/2021 08:08

Almost every family I know has had someone test positive for covid over Xmas, meaning plans had to be changed (London). I've not heard of a single person being anything other than very mildly ill. So hopefully hospitalisations will be low. This could be good news.

User754390 · 27/12/2021 08:09

He will probably do an update, maybe prerecorded, today or tomorrow and urge us to be careful and limit contacts and of course get our booster. If its not anything too drastic and just advice, I doubt it will be a press conference

IggyAce · 27/12/2021 08:10

Well the data probably won’t be accurate if our experience is anything to go be the testing seem to be in a shambles. Due to dh testing positive on a lateral on 23rd we all went for pcr tests that afternoon and are still waiting for results. Chased yesterday to be told they wouldn’t for another 48hrs, his isolation is likely to be over before we get the results. On a side note he’s totally fine only suffering with a stuffy nose.

@Fuckedoffisanunderstatement 😂😂

Meaning he can count to 10 using his fingers but needs his toes to get to 20!

OliveTree75 · 27/12/2021 08:11

I bet Boris throws bangin data review meetings
Grin

RoseAndRose · 27/12/2021 08:14

The Telegraph is getting more bonkers every day - it really is the rag of the Tory rebels now (what is it about the Tory party that it feels the need to self harm at regular intervals? Even the Boris Brexit purge didn't solve that)

Everything being blamed on lockdown - today's is 'lockdown may have sent would-be terrorists on the 'dark journey' to radicalisation'

Because of course terrorists weren't using the internet as a highly successful recruiting ground beforehand, were they? And we're so good at counter radicalisation. Hang on.....

SOTFS · 27/12/2021 08:18

Presumably with someone who doesn’t have to remove their socks to count to 20.
Love this!

Sounds like me then! Love it

I don't think anything happens today, Boris will put it off restrictions unless he has no choice.

Key will be after the schools go back next week.

Onandoff · 27/12/2021 08:32

The London hospital I work in has had steady numbers of covid cases with no rise at all in the last couple of months. Thus far rising cases don’t seem to be translating into admissions. Most coming in are unvaccinated, almost all ICU admissions are unvaccinated. Much smaller numbers admitted are very elderly (80+) or with serious immune suppression so didn’t make adequate vaccine response. A tiny amount of triple vaccinated admissions but they are recovering quickly and normally home within a week. Just one snapshot but it’s a big organisation.

FlamingGoat · 27/12/2021 08:33

Its a Bank Holiday. I expect they're too busy shopping the sales for bargains seeing as how they find it impossible to live on their hefty wages .

treeflowercat · 27/12/2021 08:35

@LynetteScavo

When will data for the past two days be announced?
The data from the past couple of days probably won't be particularly reliable.... I'd have thought far less testing would have been going on upon which to report.
TeloMere · 27/12/2021 08:35

There won't be enough data, as it's Monday after a holiday weekend.

Motorina · 27/12/2021 08:37

@Fuckedoffisanunderstatement I'm being rude about our illustrious primeminister's intellectual ability by implying that, once he's counted up to 10 on his fingers, he'll have to move onto his toes to go any higher.

@User135644 I think this is right. And, given how fast Omicron is moving, and the general apathy for restrictions, I suspect it's too late anyway. It's going to hit us regardless. In three moths Boris will either be lauded as the firm hand on the tiller who didn't panic in the face of rising cases, or he who's delay lead to bodies piling up. We will see...

BruceAndNosh · 27/12/2021 08:41

@Bordois

then what should be included today is the number of admissions from when it hit over 100,000 cases

Although, there are also signs that people going to hospital are being discharged a lot more quickly than they were previously, so any admission figures need to be looked at in conjunction with figures of those in hospital

Agreed, although Hospital Admissions is usually the headline figure, I prefer to check the actual number in hospital
User2638483 · 27/12/2021 08:44

@SpiderFluff

Ah that's a point the data won't be very clear for a bit I guess.
I think as well as the data not being recorded consistently over the bank hols, some people might have put off going for a pcr until Boxing Day.

I know that I have my nose a ‘day off’ from the daily lateral flows (positive family member) for xmas, or was planning to at least, before feeling dodgy in the evening and getting a positive lft.

jumpinghoops · 27/12/2021 08:49

Same here as above, I know loads of cases in London at the moment, including my CEV 80 year old father, who turned down anti virals because his was barely a sniffle. It could just be the people I know, but I haven’t heard of anyone having anything beyond a mild cold.

Why is everyone salivating over an ancient childish insult? Are the more insightful posters having a lie in?

On the radio earlier they were saying that people haven't been going to hospital over the weekend so the figures might not be representative. I can't imagine a situation where anyone needs hospital treatment for covid on Christmas day but decided to hang on until today to go to hospital but that's what it sounded like they were meaning

the80sweregreat · 27/12/2021 08:56

The press are not focusing on any new restrictions for England ( so far anyway ) so looks unlikely , plus many probably haven't bothered with getting a pcr . Just managing fine without one.
The figures will get behind and the next the few days are bank holidays too.
I doubt our PM will do anything today.
If the figures are not horrendous he might get away with it ?
Who knows though ?

Howmanysleepsnow · 27/12/2021 09:01

Has anyone seen data on the impact on essential staffing levels of people having to isolate due to positive tests? I think one of the questions being asked may be, has the reduced isolation time had enough of an effect to counter rising case numbers and keep adequate numbers of essential staff in work?

@Onandoff

Interesting.

If the triple jabbed, do they have any common factor?

I have a few underlying (was told to shield) and interested in seeing if they're the ones causing the triple jabbed to be hospitalised or not.

the80sweregreat · 27/12/2021 09:04

The isolation time has been cut to seven days now , on days six and seven you need a negative lft though.

ifonly4 · 27/12/2021 09:10

I think restrictions will depend on if they' can have a couple of wine while assessing dataWink.
