We've been self-isolating due to seeing family on Christmas day however we have had to go to essential hospital appts and DH needs to get his Mum's shopping today.

I was wondering how likely it is to get in a supermarket as I haven't heard anyone getting it from there.

Where have you caught it from?

I think I caught it on the tube, can’t be sure though

onemouseplace · 22/12/2021 13:47

From DD(7) who almost definitely caught it in the last couple of days of school given the number of children in her class who have tested positive since then.

The pub in London

Coasterfan · 22/12/2021 13:49

It’s difficult to know unless you only go to one place a week I think. My son tested positive yesterday, he was out with friends Saturday and two of them have also tested positive since, they were in school until Friday just gone and he finished on 10th so I think he got it from them but it could have been anywhere and he passed it to them, his footie match Saturday morning or the restaurant we went to on Thursday night?

motheroreily · 22/12/2021 13:51

I'm really not sure. I'd only been to the shops and to collect my child from school. She's negative but I'm positive so I didn't get it from her.

Wintersnuggles10 · 22/12/2021 13:52

Schools seem to be the highest spreaders at the moment

Delatron · 22/12/2021 13:52

A house party. Which is probably as risky as you can get. I’ve avoided it until now without taking many precautions; theatre trips, travel, restaurants, busy London pubs.

MotherQueenXeno · 22/12/2021 13:52

I work in a school, there were a ridiculous amount of cases amongst parents, staff and children in the last few weeks. I was not at all surprised to get it.

Delatron · 22/12/2021 13:52

Also avoided catching it from DS in my home with no isolation.

SirensofTitan · 22/12/2021 13:52

I know a couple of people who tested positive recently, they both work and neither have stopped doing their normal things. I don't think they know where it came from.

There's no way for anyone to tell you how likely you are to catch covid at a particular time in a particular place at a hypothetical time in the future you must know that by now.

Not necessarily.
indie123 · 22/12/2021 13:56

Most people i know who have it right now believe they caught it from work

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/12/2021 13:59

My theory is that so many primary children have brought it home but it wasn't detected, then they've passed it on to their families but by the time they test positive the children haven't got it any more.

KylieKoKo · 22/12/2021 14:00

I caught it from dp who went to the pub with his mate who's wife had brought it home from working in a school.

PurpleIndigoViolet · 22/12/2021 14:03

I think covid is now so widespread it’s really not worth spending any headspace trying to work out the transmission routes. It’s pretty irrelevant trying to determine who gave it to who.

TenoringBehind · 22/12/2021 14:16

Most people I know with it right now caught it at theatres or trains to/from London

Fringellacoelebs · 22/12/2021 14:17

My husband is a teacher and tested positive on the day he broke up for Christmas. My son and I now have it so fairly sure we caught it from him and he caught it at school.

User2638483 · 22/12/2021 14:17

School

Bananarice · 22/12/2021 14:18

School sent an email saying ds1 was a close contact to someone who tested positive. Dh also works in a hospital. I did some shopping.

I don't know where it came from exactly, but the whole family has it.

DrunkenKoala · 22/12/2021 14:25

DS caught it from school or the bus.

BeesRGood · 22/12/2021 14:27

I thought cases amongst children were actually falling and it's been the 20-29 year olds in which it's been running rampant, particularly Omicron.

seventyminutes · 22/12/2021 14:29

You can certainly get it just from the supermarket there was accounts of people not going anywhere but food shopping and still getting it last year

Colleagues in the last week in different parts of the country are most likely from their children of school/University age. I do have one colleague in the South West who had only been to the shops so it must have been from there.

BlingLoving · 22/12/2021 14:30

It is impossible to know where you caught it from with the possible exception of if you only went to one place over the previous 10 days.

I would imagine that supermarkets are quite easy to get it although masks probably help.
