We've been self-isolating due to seeing family on Christmas day however we have had to go to essential hospital appts and DH needs to get his Mum's shopping today.

I was wondering how likely it is to get in a supermarket as I haven't heard anyone getting it from there.

Where have you caught it from?

Dd3 from school (parent sent in positive child) and dh from dd3.

Foolsrule · 23/12/2021 08:33

@Covidwoes - I’m aware of that. Maybe if people stopped behaving like sheep and pretending nothing is happening, looked at the local data and made decisions accordingly, we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in now!

Whathefisgoingon · 23/12/2021 09:50

@TenoringBehind Interesting re theatres as they require a covid pass for entry.

trackand · 23/12/2021 09:52

Ds school and then he passed to us

dameofdilemma · 23/12/2021 09:58

Dd caught it at primary school.
We'd all isolated ourselves for 5 days when school finished and we might as well not have bothered. I wish we'd gone round having days out like others did as we've now been stuck in the house for 6 days and have at least 6 to go.

And dd's presents are 250 miles away where we were supposed to be. MiL (who lives alone) is in tears. We haven't seen her for 6 months.

Dd's barely leaving her room or speaking (she isn't ill). None of us feel like celebrating Xmas. This feels more like house arrest.

I'm done with testing until primary age kids are offered the vaccine.

mumwon · 23/12/2021 10:01

Op can you book click & collect or iceland delivery?

CharSiu · 23/12/2021 10:01

Friends had a weekend where they went out to lunch, went to Ikea and also went to in to the city centre so somewhere along the way. They both WFH and do not have dc.

DH relatives all have it in London, two separate households. Three of the four work, one is on maternity leave with a small baby.

We have always shopped late at night if possible even pre Covid because it’s quiet. I suppose as it’s Christmas in two days it may be busier but just go along at 9pm.

@Theimpossiblegirl

My theory is that so many primary children have brought it home but it wasn't detected, then they've passed it on to their families but by the time they test positive the children haven't got it any more.
This sounds very likely.

Without proof of negative test, the Covid pass doesn't mean that much now. Yes you are less likely to catch it/be seriously ill/pass it on - but two vax certainly not fail safe. I understand booster is needed in respect of omicron and that's not part of the vaccination pass.

Sloelydoesit · 23/12/2021 10:30

Christmas Party in central London.
I get released today!
I felt a bit rough for one day and that was it.
And a bit tired. It's been a long week!

Khara · 23/12/2021 11:28

I work in a school. A third of my class (and me) had it in the last week.

DeclareThePenniesOnYourEyes · 23/12/2021 11:29

@Lollyds

I think I caught it on the tube, can’t be sure though
I also think I caught it on the tube.

Totally agree with this. DS3 had a half hour headache and negative LFT. If I hadn’t taken him for a PCR from me being totally paranoid, we would never have known. He only had positive LFTs for 3 days (2 days after positive PCR) so could easily have been missed.
sheeplikessleep · 23/12/2021 11:34

… And no other symptoms other than a very mild, short headache.

Titsywoo · 23/12/2021 11:43

DH and I tested positive on Tuesday. I guess it depends how long it incubates for as I have read anything from 5-10 days. DH worked at the Jingle Bell Ball backstage on 18th/19th and although all the backstage crew were tested the crowd obviously weren't and noone was wearing a mask so he could have got it there. The only other thing we have done is went to my parents hotel last Thursday - wore a mask while walking around public areas and only spent close time with my parents who haven't tested positive.

Feeling okish but very tired. If I am lying down I feel fine but if I get up and do anything I feel worn out pretty fast. Runny nose and slight cough too.

Delatron · 23/12/2021 15:48

One of my friends DH thinks he picked it up at the Jingle Bell Ball.

MrsAlwaysRight · 23/12/2021 15:57

From DD who got it at secondary school.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 23/12/2021 15:57

Out of our family our 6 year old picked it up first so we suspect school is the source. There were lots of cases in recent weeks

delightly · 23/12/2021 17:33

Well I've had to go for a PCR this morning Hmm DS was a bit off colour for 2 days over the weekend and had a neg LFT. Everyone else has been fine. I'm feeling pretty rough. It's weird whatever it is. Feel really sick with a dodgy feeling stomach and some other odd symptoms that don't seem to go with feeling sick.

I'm hoping it's what DS had and I'll be fine tomorrow! LFTs have been neg at least.

All ok OP? Hope you were just under the weather & it wasn't the 'rona!

Frazzled2207 · 26/12/2021 12:18

Not me but dh caught it from 6 yo ds

MonAlana · 26/12/2021 12:43

@onemouseplace

From DD(7) who almost definitely caught it in the last couple of days of school given the number of children in her class who have tested positive since then.
This is exactly us. One of the kids came home with it. It was bound to happen since just about everyone in her class has had it and if their siblings have it they don’t have to isolate with them or tell others. Silly idea given other people love with vulnerable family members!
MonAlana · 26/12/2021 12:47

Yes for most children I doubt it was detected. I certainly didn’t PCR our last when their LFTs were negative. I suspect they brought it and are still negative - they barely Had any symptoms
