Did this all start with a Pangolin?!

Hi, My DH says this all came from a Pangolin. Is that right? I've tried to read online but it's hard to know what is reputable and what isn't. Does anyone know where it came from yet? I know there was talk of a wet market and bats.

Oh I see. How ironic.

Longcovid21 · 22/12/2021 20:33

My bet is US funded gain of function research carried out in China that infected workers in the lab in wuhan.
It worries me when the likes of Bill Gates say they want to play 'germ games'.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 22/12/2021 20:34

It's like nothing from nature

This is incorrect. The virus exists naturally in bats. The human strain is only very slightly different, and the main difference could theoretically have mutated naturally without lab interference.

Longcovid21 · 22/12/2021 20:37

I red something that the spikes profile is odd and something that wouldn't happen in nature. You would have a positive and then a negative spike. In nature you would not see too positive spikes next to each other.

Read!

Two!

@TheKeatingFive

As usual most horrible mess on this planet comes from us.

At a planet level it's not a horrible mess at all. Fewer humans = a positive development.

A condom or other form of birth control at one end, and peaceless painless assisted suicide pill at the other, is the way to go over social murder/eugenics lite.

Not that I believe it was a deliberate leak. Accidental escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology's bat coronavirus research, yes.

Bubblty · 22/12/2021 20:44

@XDownwiththissortofthingX ah that makes sense I guess. Still scary if it was a leak

@ginghamstarfish

It is apparently (according to China) nothing more than a billion-to-one coincidence that it started in the very place where there just happens to be a lab conducting research into this type of virus. Hmm
Exactly!! I don't think it was a deliberate leak, but it's a pretty big coincidence is that.

I suppose it depends who you believe, seems one lot of experts say one thing and others another.

I think that on balance of probabilities it is an accidental infection of someone working with a bioengineered version designed to be more readily able to infect humans, but some of the wilder conspiracies are just nonsense. There's no logical reason for China to deliberately leak this as a bioweapon, and if it was intended as a bioweapon then it's a pretty damned pathetic and ineffectual one. Far more deadly and dangerous nasties kicking around in labs.

covidhater · 22/12/2021 21:20

Lap leak whether accident or purpose not sure but they have murdered people I think they could have been up front and saved many lives if they told us the ingredients of this thing !!! Although I think the communist party are vile to their citizens

mrshoho · 22/12/2021 21:26

I wouldn't exactly say it's pathetic and ineffectual. It has turned the entire world upside down and 2 years down the line is still causing uncertainty and no end in sight. I'm leaning towards an accidental leak but so many questions remain. What date was the leak first realised? Shouldn't this be thoroughly investigated to prevent another?

mrshoho · 22/12/2021 21:42

Science is a wonderful thing but then when you understand and learn about some of the types of research going on it is actually horrifying. The capabilities to cause destruction in the wrong hands. The stuff of Bond films!

NeedToKnow101 · 22/12/2021 22:36

@BeesRGood

It started when an elephant made love to a pig!
🤣🤣🤣

I think that too, not that it was deliberately released, but that it is not natural, it has been bio-engineered.

This is a really interesting article on the lab leak theory. It's long but well worth the read.

Thank you @Beachcomber. A well written, informative article that raises many questions.The more this goes on the more surprised I am at the acceptance and apathy from all of us as to what the hell was going on.

Beachcomber · 25/12/2021 07:21

Glad you found it interesting and I'm in total agreement with what you say about apathy!
