OP posts:
MarshaBradyo · 20/12/2021 18:06

@Oblomov21

He said nothing. What a copp out. He's so spineless.
What do you want though? Restrictions?
Oblomov21 · 20/12/2021 18:07

I wanted him to call a circuit breaker. I thought it was best. I thought even that was too little too late.

MarshaBradyo · 20/12/2021 18:07

@SpanielsAreMyLife

MN is the only place in the UK where people are desperate for him to call a lockdown.

It gives people affirmation for their health anxiety.

Meanwhile in the real world, business owners are shitting themselves at the thought of not trading in January.................

Agree
Oblomov21 · 20/12/2021 18:11

"It gives people affirmation for their health anxiety. "

I have zero anxiety. I just thought a post Boxing Day circuit breaker was best.

Poetrypatty · 20/12/2021 18:14

He's a really bad communicator. He should say what further next steps should be taken and when, and how he'll protect the NHS

OldaRailer · 20/12/2021 18:14

He really is rather piss poor.

Comedycook · 20/12/2021 18:15

The UK population are pathetic... waiting to hear if our dear leader will "let" us see our families or not...who cares anymore? If you're worried about covid then cancel your own Christmas, you don't need permission from Boris!

RussianSpy101 · 20/12/2021 18:16

@Fishlipandtoeface quite!

Whatthechicken · 20/12/2021 18:16

I know this isn’t that important with everything that’s going on but I can’t believe how scruffy he looks! Crumpled suit, hair that looks like it’s been brushed with a toffee apple. I’m not fussed about appearances if someone is doing a good job, but he just looks like he can’t even be arsed to pretend he’s the PM.

OldaRailer · 20/12/2021 18:16

True that it's no point waiting for leadership from this guy.

RussianSpy101 · 20/12/2021 18:17

@Oblomov21 but if one is to believe what one reads online, nobody would stick to it anyway.

He’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

OldaRailer · 20/12/2021 18:17

Yes Whattnechicken.

OldaRailer · 20/12/2021 18:17

It's amazing really.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 18:19

@RussianSpy101 well everyone is coming out the woodwork on MN now saying they need to know what the advice is to plan what they do.
Threads on MN can be a bit of an echo chamber, it does not mean everyone thinks that way.

Poetrypatty · 20/12/2021 18:22

There's no doubt that people who run business, such as pubs, cafes,
B & B's etc need a lot more than information leadership, guidance, support than this. It's not just about people at home and who they have dinner with.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 18:26

Yes. How do you plan what you order in? Staff rotas?

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 20/12/2021 18:28

I get paid 150K that I cannot live on, so I have get up and put on a suit and talk to the peasants. But my advisors can think of three words that'll satisfy the numpties and I can go back to taking my 3 hour naps.

Best for whom?
PigletInABlanketJohn · 20/12/2021 18:36

I see from the listings that Johnson's speech is curretly being broadcast on BBC Radio 4

Deadcanary1 · 20/12/2021 18:40

I feel so sorry for the hospitality industry who are being shat on from a great height! We have a Xmas eve meal out, which I'm really looking forward to, but nothing planned for new year.we recently cancelled a weekend away booked for January and moved it to march. Glad we did now, as I think some form of lockdown is coming in the new year if not before.

NotMeNoNo · 20/12/2021 18:41

@PigletInABlanketJohn you do the nobel institution of ISIHAC a disservice!

Oblomov21 · 20/12/2021 18:46

"Best for whom?"

What is a better option? What are the alternatives? As it is he's done absolutely nothing at all. Which I believe is the worst option.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 18:48

The worst option I agree is nothing.
Virus continues to spread, places close because staff off ill, people in hospital.
People boycott businesses such as [ubs and restaurants, their takings go down, no government financial support.

the80sweregreat · 20/12/2021 18:49

As much as I really really dislike our scruffy liar of a PM I think his between a rock and a hard place with this , a run through any coronavirus thread on this forum is enough to show how much any lockdown restrictions are not wanted ( not by many people anyway !) many would not be on board with it.
They don't quite have enough data yet ( many experts have admitted this today ) and a few are cautious to say how it'll go and what might happen here, the figures are not going up that much atm , as long as people stay out of hospital that's also a good thing , of course
It's still a waiting game isn't it ? It's so different to last year and what happened then.
It is still unsettling though.
