Has the booster impacted your period?

IKnowAPlace · 19/12/2021 22:33

I had it on Wednesday and my period has arrived two days early.

I'm usually regular as clockwork but after my second jab in July I ran a couple of days late. Periods have been a bit lighter and longer since.

None of these things are problematic to me, just a bit odd.

I'm menopausal. With first jag I got a bit period a couple of days later. With second jag, I got a full on flood of the worst period I've ever had my whole life. Up until then I'd not had a period for five months. No period with booster but seem to be more hormonal, hot flushes have returned and generally more moody. Yellow Card it with the NHS

cecinestpasunepipe · 21/12/2021 14:37

I am 69 so obviously way way postmenopausal and had a bleed three weeks after my booster. I am currently on the two week pathway, but the results from my first appointment were inconclusive so waiting for further tests which because of covid and Christmas aren't scheduled until mid-January. I am really hoping it was some sort of delayed reaction to the booster.

IKnowAPlace · 21/12/2021 20:34

Firstly, I'm in no way an anti-vaxxer - I've had all three and would have any further jabs if required. I was really just trying to understand if my experience was normal.

I didn't realise there was a way to report these things so will do that now. Hopefully everyone on this thread does the same too.

Yes! I started spotting two days after my booster for a week, and then period arrived, that's never happened before.

Hadehahaha · 21/12/2021 20:45

Just FYI OP, my sister had covid and it messed with her period, and a couple of friends have said the same. So when my second jab messed with my period slightly I wasn’t that surprised, as it is a side effect of covid (very under reported but I was able to find stuff on Google).

Katie517 · 21/12/2021 20:50

Yes Moderna booster then period which is normally like clockwork arrived just over a week early and much heavier than normal. First AZ vaccine also caused me to miss 3 periods. All reported

MyFieldOfFucksIsBarren · 21/12/2021 20:52

My periods are all over the place so it's impossible to tell, but it does make me wary of getting my daughter who hasn't started periods yet jabbed

Flaunch · 21/12/2021 20:55

Everything stayed the same after the first 2 Pfizer jabs but the booster bought my period forward a full ten days and it was agony. I had an endometrial ablation a couple of years ago so my period are usually very light but this one was awful and heavy! God knows where the bloody actually came from.

pjparty · 21/12/2021 20:58

@Katie517 would you be able to share how you reported it?

Sofuckingsad · 21/12/2021 21:02

Another one on the two week pathway after post-menopausal spotting after Moderna booster. Hoping the jab is the cause tbh.

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 21/12/2021 21:13

I've reported on the yellow card now. Six months of month long periods (3 weeks light then 1 week very heavy) 2/3 weeks no period and then back on again. This is after two doses of AstraZeneca. My third vaccine was pzfizer and I am back to normal again.

I'm not on a two week pathway but have had loads of tests and due for an ultrasound in January.

ieatpies · 21/12/2021 23:03

@pjparty you can report it here if you are in the UK:

Loudestcat14 · 21/12/2021 23:07

Yes! Last period finished on the 10th. Had Moderna booster on the 14th. Started bleeding again today, exactly a week later. I'm 49 and on HRT for perimenopause.

Pinkstar28 · 21/12/2021 23:19

Yes after my first jab I was late. Just had my booster three days ago and now I’m 2/3 days early on my period today. Didn’t think anything of it until reading this

pjparty · 22/12/2021 07:41

Thanks @ieatpies ! I will do that

Fallagain · 22/12/2021 08:44

This is interesting. No issues after AZ but after pfzier my period is currently MIA.

Whathefisgoingon · 22/12/2021 08:51

First vaccine and booster vaccine delayed mine by 4 days and they were heavier than usual.

AlbertBridge · 22/12/2021 09:00

My periods have been all over the place since the first two jabs (moderna). I bled for a full month after the second jab. Now it’s more like have a proper period then spot for two weeks then have another period. It’s rubbish! It’s putting me right off a booster.

This is EXACTLY what happened with me! I had 2xModerna. Since then, my periods are painful but normal for a week, then stop for a day, then I get anything from 10 days to currently : weeks of variable spotting/watery blood/heavy bleeding.

I've had a hysteroscopy and biopsy, both clear. The gynae tried me on the Progesterone pill, no change. I'm now on the waiting list for a hysterectomy. (Am 50 with fibroids. But that had all been well controlled with an ablation then Mirena.)

I have my booster today.

AlbertBridge · 22/12/2021 09:01

I wonder if this is worse with Moderna?

HairyScaryMonster · 22/12/2021 11:54

Mine came about 3-5 days early.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/12/2021 12:37

Currently 2 days later than average... Moderna booster two weeks ago halfway through my cycle. Interestingly I didn't have the day 21 fatigue for once.

I went a few days over after AZ1 in the spring- annoyingly as I had my smear test booked and needed it over and done with in time, and it was cutting it fine.

AZ2 was fine and I only had a normal post-vaxx dead arm. AZ1 I ended up having all the energy drain out of me to the point of nearly fainting and spent the rest of the day in bed clearly undergoing immune system response. Moderna has been better but still spent the next day doing nothing superflouous and feeling generally achey.

My cycles are normally regular and I'm in the easy place of being done with my fertility but not peri-menopausal yet.

StationaryMagpie · 22/12/2021 13:03

2 days early here too!

i kind of noticed the previous two had put me in a regular cycle too!

thebellagio · 22/12/2021 13:05

@Beachbabe1

The worrying thing is...does it affect a woman's cycle/fertility? I had a very late period with both my vaccines. Heard lots of woman saying the same.
My period has been haywire ever since my two jabs. I had my booster on sat so god knows what will happen next. I have significant concerns about the impact that the vaccine is having on periods and the fact that so many doctors are denying any correlation or gaslighting people to think it’s in their heads.

In my view until this has been concretely investigated and debunked there is no way I will ever consent to my 6yo daughter having this vaccine if they decide to vaccinate children. Im seriously concerned about the impact on prepubescent girls when literally thousands of women are reporting issues.

To be clear - I’m not saying that the vax will cause issues. I want to see the evidence that it’s been looked into.

lobsterkiller · 02/01/2022 10:42

I had AZ for my first two and it messed with my periods, cycles shorter and heavier. Had my pfizer booster this week and ive come on today...20 days early. FFS.

loopsielu · 02/01/2022 10:56

Hi all, I had my booster on the 22nd dec, my period is like clockwork and was due the 23rd dec, I had all the usual Pre menstrual symptoms in the lead up to it too. All my pms just stopped within a few hours of the booster and I got my period yesterday very heavy and very crampy, 9 days late
Just my opinion but surely this is not something to be ignored that the vaccines mess up cycles so much
