Has the booster impacted your period?

I had it on Wednesday and my period has arrived two days early.

I'm usually regular as clockwork but after my second jab in July I ran a couple of days late. Periods have been a bit lighter and longer since.

None of these things are problematic to me, just a bit odd.

I had my first 2 jabs in the summer and my periods are still messed up. I've started getting a weird spotting 2 days before my actual period since the first jab, that I have never had before. Effectively extending my period duration.I'm 30s, always been regular, no hormonal contraception - and the GP can't explain it either. Have reported it on the yellow card scheme. Also why I won't be getting boosters every few months. Having irregular periods after every jab, adds up to a few months a year of irregular periods!! How can any medical professional say that's a healthy thing for women to undergo annually when irregular periods are normally a sign something is wrong...

But, doctors seem to struggle to diagnose so many women's medical health problems even pre-pandemic - so I'm not surprised at the lack of information or even diagnosis of period problems post Covid.

Yep, mine came 2 weeks early after my booster, no changes after the first 2 jabs though

ILoveYouMoreTheEnd · 02/01/2022 11:12

My first jab Pfizer didn't affect my cycle. Jab 2 I was ill with it and I had painful and 2 periods in 4 weeks, heavy and painful which lasted approx 8 days each. I've experienced the same with my booster and I'm on my second period in 4 weeks, the cramps are bad and I'm heavy bleeding at the moment again. I'm on hrt and my periods were regular and light for the last year before the jabs. I track them on Flo app so can look back. X

Yep. Only two periods last year and both directly after jabs. At first I thought I could be pg as very sore boobs and other pg type symptoms, which I don’t get in peri meno usually.
I didn’t even know about this yellow card thing! I have been wondering why the government haven’t been requesting everyone to tick a side effects list, like they ask you to tick off symptoms when you have Covid? Or do they check with a random sample? Will report now I know about it.
Too many women are reporting menstrual issues for the data to not to be collected properly!

thefatpotato · 02/01/2022 11:17

PMS was absolutely awful after jab 1, then period much much lighter than normal after my booster. Hoping it stays that way tbh!

Witheringlooks · 02/01/2022 11:23

Yep, I started flooding at least once a period since my second Pfizer jab in March last year. Ended up on tranxamic acid in Sept. Which has made a difference. My GP said lots of women are reporting problems with periods after the jabs and report it to the yellow card system. The booster seems to have sorted it.....

I've just found this thread.

I had Pfizer for my first two jabs and no side effects, but I had the Moderna booster in December and my period now is really heavy and painful. I normally have one day of heavy bleeding but this time it's three going on four days.

Glad to see it's not just me - I take traxenamic acid anyway but it doesn't seem to be as effective this time round!

JuergenSchwarzwald · 03/01/2022 15:17

I had the (Pfizer) booster two weeks ago and my period is haywire too. But I am 49 so used to them being haywire! I don't know if there is a connection or not.

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 17/01/2022 20:29

My period went missing for 6 mths after the AZ two jabs. Had a Pfizer booster and was due yesterday and nothing. So annoying as I feel so crap for it as well. I’ve yellow carded if

Givemepickles · 17/01/2022 21:08

My period came just over a week early and my cycles shortened. I did get pregnant shortly after this, in case that reassures anyone about fertility.

At the time I went to GP as thought I was randomly bleeding mid cycle. She didn't mention vaccine as a possibility but I've now seen this is a common side effect.

Dazedandc0nfused · 17/01/2022 21:26

I was fine after 1st and 2nd vaccine (AstraZeneca) but when I had the Pfizer booster my period was a couple of days late. That was not a big deal but that period was so painful. Usually I take painkillers for the first day or so but this time I took them for four days. Very unusual for me to have cramps like that for so long.

OnceUponAThread · 17/01/2022 21:29

@Beachbabe1

The worrying thing is...does it affect a woman's cycle/fertility? I had a very late period with both my vaccines. Heard lots of woman saying the same.
@Beachbabe1 jabs one and two seriously messed up my period both times. I later got pregnant on first try so I don't think fertility impacted. Had booster whilst pregnant and all seems fine. Scan afterwards all good. Hopefully that's reassuring (albeit only my experience).
Mooserp · 17/01/2022 21:34

In early 50s. Pfizer booster brought on a heavy period for me and I'm menopausal/on HRT. A friend experienced the same.

Ormally · 17/01/2022 23:12

If you did have surprises around the bleeding arrival, did you feel anything like what could be PMS symptoms shortly before that, or faintness?

Youngatheart00 · 17/01/2022 23:38

Yes, I was 9 days late and usually like clockwork. Period also unusually light

Thegirlwhocan · 18/01/2022 06:09

The jabs have totally messed up my periods. After my first jab I never had one for four months and after the second it was two months. I've not had the booster yet - I'm too worried for all manner of reasons.

toppocket · 18/01/2022 06:23

I'm now 2 months late with horrific bloating and PMT. GP isn't interested and suggesting it's my age.
