Singer from Il Divo dies from Covid complications

Carlos Marin. 53 years old and fully vaccinated.
Was admitted to an ICU in Manchester and died a short time later.

Very sad news, they were my mum’s favourites.

A bit scary that he was fully vaxxed and still ended up in ICU then died.

RIP.

According to the articles I've read he wasn't married, is it his ex wife who tweeted?

All the media are reporting that it was covid.

Where is this tweet? I can't see anything on her profile?

I am reluctant to believe The DM to be honest. Maybe he was fully vaccinated, but who knows his full health history, perhaps he was more vulnerable to Covid for a reason. It's a private matter.

If not, it's very worrying. However, we don't know the details.

I think it's very sad, but have to be a bit careful with some slightly more high profile covid deaths.

I know a famous in his industry person who is widely reported to have died of covid. While he did contract covid in hospital that was not the main cause of death. The main cause has been kept private for the sake of his family.

This could be the same here as it's unusual for a fully vaccinated person to die of it without some other cause also being present.

Very sad, as is all the covid deaths.
Unfortunately the vaccine isn't a silver bullet for covid, my mil sadly died of covid, despite being fully vaccinated

@LittleRoundRobin in your fifties underlying issues are very common. Asthma for example. I am in my fifties and there are very few friends my age who don't have one underlying issue.

Whether he was diabetic, had asthma or whatever is irrelevant.

The man is dead, too young and that's what matters.

I haven't seen anything that says he was fully vaccinated. If he was in his 50's then he might not have had chance to get the booster or have been about to get it. I know people in their 50s who've only just been vaccinated

Best we can all do is follow the advice as much as possible

Underlying issues can be just that - underlying - as in, any of us could have them and not know. We don't if Carlos Marin had any, but it doesn't matter. Indeed it seems rather rude to speculate. The poor man died unexpectedly and at a relatively young age. Very very sad.
