My instinct is ‘no, fuck ‘em, we’d still go ahead with our new year plans to visit relatives which were cancelled last year and which is the only thing getting me through this month to be honest’. I’ve certainly said as much to DH when ranting away, and he’s agreed.

That's one reason why it wouldn't work - some CEV live with essential workers. Of course they wouldn't be gong out shopping, but people who may be infected then have to come to then

I said support so CEV and those they live with wouldn't have to go to work. Yes, it might mean some essential workers wouldn't be in work - but it looks as if millions will be isolating due to Omicron anyway soon.

Nobody should have no choice but to go to work knowing it could very well kill them, or a loved one.
