Anyone had a child with a temp that had a neg PCR? Please say yes!

I lateral flow test him every single morning. All negative, including today.

He had positive cases in his class discovered on Wed. Kept him out of school Thurs & Friday.

He had a temp last night. So I took him for a PCR this morning.

This would be the first Christmas we'll have spent with my parents in 4 years so I'm desperate for some hope. They live abroad so were due to fly next week.

It's going to be positive isn't it... Sad

Not necessarily. Other viruses are available.

Jade308 · 18/12/2021 10:27

Yep, at least twice

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 18/12/2021 10:28

Twice my daughter has had this happen, PCR negative both times. If his LFTs are negative, his PCR probably will be too and it'll just be some other viral thing he's got. Fingers crossed!

faithfulbird20 · 18/12/2021 10:29

Yeah twice both times negative

EasterIssland · 18/12/2021 10:30

Yes 3-5 times

DrunkenKoala · 18/12/2021 10:38

Twice.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 18/12/2021 10:38

Yes. There are so many other viruses around at the moment. Don't worry until you know for sure.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 18/12/2021 10:39

There are god knows how many other viruses around!

MindyStClaire · 18/12/2021 10:41

Easily over ten times between two children here. I wouldn't panic yet. Fingers crossed.

GertrudeKerfuffle · 18/12/2021 10:42

All of us in our house recently had a bug that I was sure was covid - high temps, coughs, aching etc. Three negative LFTs and three negative PCRs showed it was not covid though. Good luck 🤞🏻

Bakingdiva · 18/12/2021 10:42

Yep, my dd has had so many PCR tests as she had a temp, all negative

randomsabreuse · 18/12/2021 10:43

Every other week since September... Many other viruses are circulating just now...

musicalfrog · 18/12/2021 10:43

Yes but I've also had a child without a high temp (or any symptoms) who has tested positive.

s1h2o3na · 18/12/2021 10:46

remember ,fever is also less common with delta and omicron than with previous variants....my DD, along with prob half of her friends didnt get a temp at all when they had Covid...hence why its so easy to mistake it for something else!

ThirdElephant · 18/12/2021 10:47

Oh, loads of times.

glutten4punishment · 18/12/2021 11:00

You're all so kind, thank you.
It's made me feel a bit more hopeful.

I think as he was directly exposed to it (including his teacher) I'm feeling it's more likely to come back positive.

But you've def given me some hope.

Yes. Twice now with my 13yo DD.

GuckGuckDoose · 18/12/2021 11:02

Between myself and 2 kids, we’ve had 38 PCRs done since the start of all of this, most of them for fever or cough, 6 of them following a good going exposure - not one of them has been positive.

Same here. My daughter tested positive end Nov with zero symptoms. Would never have known only for LFTs.

I was pretty gutted when my son (or me or hubby) didn't get it then tbh. We didn't isolate her or separate them and he managed to avoid it.

(Yes, I did go back and count all of my results texts the other day…)

glutten4punishment · 18/12/2021 11:04

To clarify, when I said we didn't isolate my daughter, I meant from the rest of the household!
Not society! I can assure you she never left the house for 10 days (except to get a pcr obv)! Smile

Yes, DD has run 2 temps since September and both PCRs were negative.

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2021 11:04

Quite a few times

Yep, Ds(3) had fevers all week. 2 negative LFT and 1 negative PCR. Turned out he had bilateral ear infection, but because we had to wait for the PCR test to come back his antibiotics and recovery were delayed by 2 days. Hmm
