Roll up - who's in? My plans are screwed as dc1 has tested positive. All entertainment welcomed.

DH positive, feels pants

Autumnalblooms · 24/12/2021 17:18

@Topsyandtimison37 same here each lft neg and two separate pcr both positive today.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 24/12/2021 17:20

Can I join!

DS2 (13 but with SEN so younger in reality) single jabbed - due 2nd next week - tested positive on a lateral flow. Dh and the DC doing them before PIL arrived.
They’d left already so stopped at a service station, though about time then turned around and went home.
(Not all bad 🤫!)

Ds2 happy to stay in his room most of the time on an iPad but can’t really do it to him on Christmas esp with his learning difficulties.

What are other people doing with their young kids with covid??

I’m testing daily because I work in a care home and got pinged from last Friday too (triple vaxxed).

Lemoncurd · 24/12/2021 17:29

We are all just living in the house normally, children (almost) all teens. Feel a bit bad as earlier in the year 15 yr old isolated in their room for a week after contact with a case and never actually tested positive themselves. This time it feels like a lost cause with two of them having positive lateral flows.

Husband and I are triple jabbed, eldest double jabbed 3 months ago, middle teen had second jab this week and youngest almost eligible for 2nd jab.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 24/12/2021 17:35

Thanks, both me and DH are triple jabbed.
Both teens single jabbed.
Dd is only 10 so not jabbed at all.

I think we’ll mostly operate as normal just open more windows for tomorrow then he’ll be happy back in his room. Maybe not logical but most realistic way of managing.

Mumlifedc · 24/12/2021 17:46

I tested positive today, I feel very weak and tired. I will still have to be up in the night to sort my kids stocking and presents, hubby triple vaxed and negative but as always when I'm ill he's sicker ( jab side affects won't take paracetamol) so all the donkey work is me as I can't let my kids down.

TheDrsDocMartens · 24/12/2021 19:50

Dc1 didn’t get home from uni as tested positive. Rest of us ok for now but second one without Dc1 ☹️

Crapslattern · 24/12/2021 20:50

Happy Christmas everyone! It's a bloody mess this year, isn't it!

OP posts:
LivingInaBuildingSite · 24/12/2021 20:54

Yep!

Tbh doesn’t feel like Christmas at all to me. Combo of starting work in the holidays, kids not believing in Santa, covid, etc,

MamaWeasel · 24/12/2021 20:57

We're in, 2 out of 4 of us are positive for covid, and I have a headache which doesn't bode well.merry Christmas ya filthy animals.

Youcanhavehim · 24/12/2021 21:04

We're in too, two out of 4 have it, had to cancel hosting for 10 tomorrow, feel so IilI could cry

Crapslattern · 24/12/2021 21:13

Waiting for the positive kids to fall asleep so I can get the stockings done! Santa will have to make do with a biscuit this year as we have no mince pies in!

Cheers all 🥂

Joining too! We were meant to go to my sisters then on Wednesday morning my BIL tested positive and then later that day my son tested positive. Wishing we lived near them/had a teleporter (or possibly just a car - we were due to travel there by train today) as then we could all be together in isolation given positive cases in both households. But we don't so we are just us at home. Me & DH still negative so we've been able to go & get the food in so we'll still have a good dinner tomorrow

Autumnalblooms · 24/12/2021 21:56

Merry Christmas all ,cheers back @Crapslattern Wine whatever we are all doing tomorrow I hope it all goes ok. Those feeling really rotten hang on in there it is horrible Flowers feel for you all .Tested positive today .Bloody covid .

Theimpossiblegirl · 24/12/2021 22:18

I've opened a sloshy sounding present early. Some kind of nutty, caramel nougat moonshine. It's lovely and certainly lifting my spirits.

Poor DH is in denial as misled by some NHS person quoting outdated guidance, but we're going to act like he has it and test boxing day so I don't have to drive tomorrow. Luckily we already did the family thing last week.

RosesAndHellebores · 24/12/2021 22:29

Yep. We were supposed to go to Yorkshire on Tuesday. Had rented a lovely house to host MIL who is 85 and can no longer travel. The four of us and dd's bf were going.

DD tested +ve on lft on Sunday. PCR result +ve on Tuesday. Also on Sunday ds's gf tested +ve.

DH was clear so went to spend Xmas with his mother - we couldn't leave her on her own. I am having Xmas in the covid septic tank. DD, DS and GF are here. Am boostered and let's so far are -ve. Can work easily from home if the worst happens.

Keeping on a bright smile but quite low really. Missing DH.

mrtumblesspottybg · 24/12/2021 22:43

I'm in - tested positive this week everyone else will in the household still testing negative despite having horrific coughs. Not feeling very festive at all.

Crapslattern · 25/12/2021 08:14

Happy Christmas you lovely lot! I hope you're able to enjoy some of the day - be it a sneaky sherry, a Christmas film or a snuggle with a family member of a similar covid status. 🎄🎄🎄🥂❤️

I have had several coughs and colds since September. All LF tests (done daily) are negative.
My phlegmy hacking cough and blocked nose has just returned yet again.

I spoke to the doctor yesterday and she has booked me in for a chest X-ray for after Christmas. No mention of Covid.

Would every single LF test I have taken be negative if I actually did have Covid? Is that even possible?

Natzyc · 25/12/2021 08:36

From my experience the LTF ones are accurate as I’ve been doing them since I got a positive and getting the same result and so as my husband who is ok and getting a negative result xx

LoveBeingAMum555 · 25/12/2021 08:42

Yep. DS2 came home from Uni Tuesday and tested positive. DH and DS1 (23) both have underlying health conditions. DS1 is staying with grandparents and sent me a message last night saying he just wants to be at home. I could have cried.

Hoping for a miracle but if DS gets a negative LFT this morning he can at least come out of his room. We have delayed Christmas Day until Tuesday but if DH or I test positive that's it. I know some are worse off but I feel pretty miserable right now.

SweatyTulip · 25/12/2021 08:42

I'm beginning to see the perks of isolating in my room while everyone else is negative.... DH has never worked so hard and is currently stuffing the turkey, while I sit in bed sipping tea. I'm joining them in the garden for dinner and presents later, but the teenagers are still asleep and it's all feeling very relaxed from here now. Happy Christmas everyone, and I hope you can all find some small moments of joy today, somehow.

NinaDefoe · 25/12/2021 08:44

Thank you ! The doctor seemed happy that it was ‘a common cold’ because every LF test has been negative. Just reading these threads makes me worry as a lot of people with Covid have the and symptoms as I have.

Happy Christmas everyone!

thelittlestrhino · 25/12/2021 10:01

Latecomer to this thread. Positive lft this morning. Wasn’t seeing family anyway as I felt it was too risky as we didn’t break up until Thursday afternoon (teacher) but I am someone who is only ever home to eat or sleep so am going to struggle not being able to get out!

diege · 25/12/2021 10:19

Room for another latecomer? 😫 DD 2 (19, back from uni) tested positive yesterday - really pissed off as despite protests from me she went clubbing in the week (though I'm aware any of us could have brought it in). DP (who doesn't live here) now having Christmas alone with a ready meal as all the food here 😫. I feel rubbish (headache, temperature) but negative lateral flow...Only a matter of time I think! Hoping dd1 won't get as has her MRI (follow up brain cancer) on the 4th. Bloody timing!!!!
