Roll up - who's in? My plans are screwed as dc1 has tested positive. All entertainment welcomed.

DH has been doing lateral flow tests daily as he is a primary school teacher and there have been loads of cases in school. Positive test this evening (x2 as he did another just to be sure). Very strong lines so I'd be amazed if it isn't confirmed by a lateral flow.

DH, me and the DC will be fine I'm sure- all as vaccinated as we can be and reasonably healthy. But it means MIL will be on her own on Xmas day (we're her only close family). Just pleased we cancelled our plans to visit my CEV parents at the weekend.

Nsws2015 · 20/12/2021 23:49

Dd15 has just tested strong positive tonight after feeling a bit ropey at work, more tiredness and like a cold was possibly starting but the nose only one had a pink line, the nose and throat was very strong! Pcr booked for tomorrow morning. She was so emotional bless her thinking she had ruined Xmas, she had plans to go see the new spiderman on a double date with her boyfriend and best friend and her boyfriend Thursday, was supposed to be seeing her grandparents when she went to her dad's too. She's worried about passing it to her baby brother who's 20 months, despite me saying it's been inevitable and we've had a good run at nearly 2 years of not getting it. She's perked up a bit now thankfully

Merry covid Christmas everyone 🎄😷

elotrolado · 20/12/2021 23:54

DS had a positive LFT earlier. PCR first thing tomorrow. Gutted. So done with this shitshow now.

Clo10w · 21/12/2021 07:30

I totally get you. There’s me and my partner here, and I’ve tested positive and he’s negative so far 🤞 xx

Natzyc · 24/12/2021 08:07

Covid positive for baby’s first Christmas I am devastated.
Worse things can happen I know it’s just annoying!
Night nurse is the best thing to keep me going so I would recommend that

Mumsy89 · 24/12/2021 14:08

Positive household here too, DD who is two tested positive on Tuesday, just awaiting PCR results from test taken on Wednesday and praying to God that it comes through negative in time to hot foot it down to the mother's! Merry Christmas everyone, mo matter how small your Christmas may be this year just try and remain thankful for the positives (pardon the pun) xx

anormalperson · 24/12/2021 14:32

Here too, DH is positive and feeling awful. I feel awful and waiting for my PCR results

Autumnalblooms · 24/12/2021 14:56

HighlandCowbag · 24/12/2021 14:57

Yup, we are in as well. Dh got a positive lft Wednesday, pcr came back today, his positive, mine negative thank fuck. Both dcs negative lft as well as mine so far. Both me and dh triple jabbed, dd double jabbed.

Fortunately we have a fairly quiet Christmas anyway. Have done loads of nice food shopping so we just hunkering down eating all of everything. Poor dh feels pretty ropey tho, thank fuck he had his booster a few weeks ago, dread to think how ill he would be without it.

Autumnalblooms · 24/12/2021 14:58

@Natzyc Flowers I am so sorry that Is a real shite and I can totally get you being devastated. Sending you a virtual hug .

Mammma91 · 24/12/2021 15:01

DP had a positive lateral flow last night. We done PCR’s this morning. Probably won’t have the results for a few more days. So were having a covid Christmas at home too. Merry Christmas when it comes all - i hope you can make the most of these shitty times.

Natzyc · 24/12/2021 15:36

Thanks 😊

Theimpossiblegirl · 24/12/2021 15:40

Dh has just woken up after a night shift with cold symptoms. Ffs.
He's getting a PCR but it's unlikely he'll get results for days. So he's stuck in the house.

Tempnamelady · 24/12/2021 15:44

My estranged husband tested positive two days ago. Of course as per usual had done f all Xmas prep, so I did two unscheduled shopping trips Also bought him a gift to open as he’s going to be in his own.
Quite annoying as whilst most of us were limiting social contact , he was out at the pub every night ( a contributing factor in our marriage going wrong) so no surprise he is ill. Massively looking for the sympathy vote and I’m not a hard person so I feel bad he will be on his own. This Xmas was always going to be difficult for us both after 24 years married, I just have to hold my resolve because it’s at these times of year that the rose coloured specs go on don’t they?
I’m feeling pretty low myself but just trying to crack on.
Happy Covid Xmas everyone 🙂

MajesticWhine · 24/12/2021 15:45

Covid Christmas here. I tested positive yesterday. Feeling a bit rough. DH and DC ok so far but we can't see other family as we had planned. I'm hoping I will be well enough to get up and enjoy tomorrow. I am thinking I will mask up and open presents with the rest of my family.

Autumnalblooms · 24/12/2021 15:46

Meant to add I am triple jabbed to and an classed as extremely critically vulnerable with severe asthma I dread actually to think if i hadn't had the jabs .I was actually really unsure at first but working in community care to protect those I support I had it .Very wise move

Theimpossiblegirl · 24/12/2021 15:49

Update
He's been told he's not eligible for a PCR because he doesn't have the 3 main symptoms. I genuinely don't understand why they haven't been updated. He should have just lied.

MintJulia · 24/12/2021 15:55

I'm isolating because I had some chemo this week and am banned from catching covid. So just me and a video game playing teen. Grin

For all of us having to isolate at home and spend Xmas with the tv, do you not think they could have bought Chris Whitty a more festive tie!

Topsyandtimison37 · 24/12/2021 16:03

Same here we've got no symptoms

Topsyandtimison37 · 24/12/2021 16:04

Also to add all my LFT we're negative and pcr positive

SilverGlitterBaubles · 24/12/2021 16:05

@Theimpossiblegirl

Update He's been told he's not eligible for a PCR because he doesn't have the 3 main symptoms. I genuinely don't understand why they haven't been updated. He should have just lied.
Ignore the symptoms list and get a test
Theimpossiblegirl · 24/12/2021 16:18

I'm taking him. I've just said he's a close contact.
The system is so flawed it makes me quite cross. It gives justification to the non testers/refusers.
We've got enough food and drink to hibernate for weeks and I've very recently had it, as have the teens, so it could be worse.

Lemoncurd · 24/12/2021 16:37

@Theimpossiblegirl we had 2 positive lateral flows in the house this morning. Kept thinking I'd chosen the wrong PCR options as it also said 'ineligible', in the end I just said child had contact with a positive case (true but not confirmed by PCR yet). Then after filling out the details for everyone it would only let you book for 4 in a household - we have more than 4 and a couple of us with negative lateral flows were feeling a bit ropey so wanted to test. Gave up and went to the test centre as walk ins - seemed like most people near us in the queue had done the same!

Had to cancel all of our guests who were just getting ready to come. One set took a lot of convincing not to come, they were staying a few nights and although in their 70's insisted it would be fine if we just kept windows open! Not convinced as one child with a positive lateral flow only had outdoor contact and the other hadn't been in contact with anyone outside the home since school last Friday!

SweatyTulip · 24/12/2021 17:01

Covid Christmas here too. Rest of the house have been testing negative daily, but I'm positive and have been isolating in one room so they can all continue to hang out. I'll be in the garden for presents and dinner tomorrow 😷😬😭 Still, am fortunate that I don't really feel ill at all, so trying to remain cheery. Also entertained as husband realising quite how much I normally do 🤣

Queenie8 · 24/12/2021 17:12

Can we join? DP came out of isolation yesterday, and his two LFTs were negative, DC1 tested positive this morning, DC2 and I negative. We've been for PCR tests this afternoon, but Christmas day for 9 is now down to 4 of us.

Both DCs and I had covid early September too. I'm triple vaxxed but CEV, and DC1 has had first vax.
