Went in to Norwich ASDA today first time been to in months but the 25% off 6 bottles of wine lured me in, I was amazed at how many people of all ages were not wearing face coverings, is it that we are now so fed up and numb from all the Covid hype that we don’t care or is it the frustration of having Boris and his cronies getting away with it time and time again, like the party that was not a party or the second jobs or the £840.00 rolls of wallpaper that he decorated his flat with that we don't wear on on principal ?, cos we all do that don’t we £840.00 per roll that’s as much as some people take home in a month, anyway I understand some people have certain medical conditions where they don’t have to wear a face covering but why is it they always appear in twos ?, how does that work is there a website called lanyards .com where they arrange to go shopping together, any way got the wine NO Turkeys should be some in stock later so they said not getting my hopes up.

For shame!

They hath exposed their poxy faces to make merriment in the pub. A plague upon their houses!

GoldenOmber · 15/12/2021 09:46

We’ve been told so often to hunker down for one final push. Every time, there’s been needed another one after the last. It’s not been a deliberate lie perhaps, but it has been wrong.

Yes. I know some view it as the public must care less now than before, because they were willing to do things before that they’re less willing to do now. But most people were never willing to adopt this as a long-term way of life - they were doing it as a short-term response to an emergency. If it looks like they’ll be asked to do it again and again and again until the end of time, after vaccines and after boosters and whatever else, then of course they’re going to reconsider what they’re willing to do.

CamQ · 15/12/2021 09:51

I’m the antithesis of brand- or supermarket-loyal so have a reasonable overview of degree of mask-wearing across the supermarkets and in my area it is currently:

(Highest to lowest compliance in my town):

Waitrose
Sainsbury’s
Tesco
M and S
Lidl (definitely the worst and was in last lockdown too).

Hmumoftw0 · 15/12/2021 09:52

Mask's do nothing, I find it absolutely hilarious when I get a death stare from an older person wearing a thin FABRIC face covering who I have watched adjust their mask multiple times in 30 seconds Hmm I prefer to socially distance as that actually works help stop the spread, not to mention being pregnant and being breathless anyway I will wear a hospital mask if I have to go somewhere busy.

Exactly

I find it odd that this comes as such a surprise to certain people.

Yes this and I followed all the poxy rules last Xmas. They can do one now.
**@CBroads* and @teaandtoastwithmarmite* and all those who don't wear masks in shops etc

I don't say anything but always think to myself 'And what makes you so special?'

The point is - wearing a mask is easy - very easy.

And you do so to protect other people ie it's good manners.

So maybe just get over yourself and crack on.
Yeah I suppose it is easy when you're not a rape or domestic violence victim.
Let me list some more mask exemptions for you so you can make a joke out of those too;
COPD
Anxiety
Asthma
PTSD
I'm not sure that people who suffer with the exemption illnesses can just "Crack on" but as long as you wear your mask you're fine on your pedestal right? Wrong.

@fournonblondes

I think you may be numb from the alcohol. From an international perspective I can assure you that the examples to bring a government in down in the U.K. are laughable. I really do not think people care much about wallpaper or xmas parties but if anything BJ or this government is doing wrong is over reacting about the omicron.
@fournonblondes seems the people do care about wallpaper and parties great result for the Lib Dems.

North Shropshire was a protest vote
Those people are not Lib Dems, but it was a case of giving Boris Johnson a bloody nose.
Once the Tories have a new shiny leader many will go back to voting for them again next election
I loath this current government, but I would rather they kept the current PM there if only to mop all the fall out from the last few years and not let him sail off to a better paid job somewhere , leaving it all to someone else to sort out ( which will probably happen I suppose :(

bellamountain · 17/12/2021 09:41

Some people at the start of the pandemic were very pragmatic, willing to do their bit and just saw it as something we have to get through so absolutely no moaning 'it is what it is'. That was my DH whilst I was a wreck struggling with lockdown and restrictions. Now he is absolutely done, he's worn down by it all and I can see how angry and fed up he is. Even people who were avid lock downers are now saying they want to get on with their life. I genuinely thought so many people just thought it would go away. Whilst at the very start, with all the sniping at one another and endless debate, I knew covid was here to stay.....

scaevola · 17/12/2021 09:49

I think a lot of people at the outset did not realise the potential timelines, and thought long-haul meant a few months.

I wonder if there is a similar error being made about learning 'to live with it' which does not mean ending restrictions and letting the devil take the hindmost - it means accepting periodic need to have restrictions.

MoggyP · 17/12/2021 09:51

Even without a shiny new leader, it'll revert.

A week is a long time in politics, and next general election is due in 2024.

If only it was “easy”

My daughter has Tourette’s. She tries to wear a mask to appease people like you.

When she attempts to wear a mask, she shoves it in her mouth and down her throat until she chokes. She punches and scratches her face until she’s bruised and bleeding. She hits herself in the face and head with objects, they bring on huge tic attacks until she had a seizure. The last time she attempted to wear a mask she repeatedly head butted a set of metal railings until she knocked herself unconscious and broke her nose.

With respect, you can fuck off with your wearing a mask is very easy.

leafygarden42 · 18/12/2021 06:05

@alloalloallo and @Broads93

I wasn't making a joke or making fun of people who genuinely cannot wear a mask for an a mental or physical condition. Not my intention at all.

I was actually referring who don't want to wear a mask simply because they don't want to.

So maybe 'with respect' you can go fuck yourself as well. And I'm not on a fricking pedestal.

Wear your muzzle and shut up, my god I'm sick of hearing you self-righteous twats judge everyone else because others won't blindly follow the "Advice" of a bumbling idiot, says more about you than it does about us. Off you fuck.

I'm not numb to people who don't wear masks. I don't mind calling them a cunt under my breath
So you think you're some sort of Saint for calling someone that is possibly medically exempt from wearing a mask a cunt, when they're probably alreadyvfeel bad for it?

Good one

Resorting to insults tells me all I need to know about you. Why don’t you do something constructive with your anger? @Broads93

I'd say my anger is reasonable when you look at the bigger picture I.e, vulnerable people called "Cunts" because they were raped or domestically assaulted and cannot wear a mask. How shallow.

Very graceful. And what if they are medically exempt? You sound ignorant
