Anyone had a PCR recently (11/12/13 Dec)? How long did it take?

It’s got very busy for testing now with Omicron obviously. I’ve had some really quick walk in tests this year (sub 12hrs) but wondering how they are doing now. Any recent experiences?

I had mine just after 12pm today so am in the anxious wait zone. I’ll start getting twitchy after midnight. I hate the waiting, I drive myself crackers with it.

Tested 1pm yesterday mine has just come back now at 9.45am next day still waiting o daughter

Crackingowlsanctuary · 14/12/2021 09:57

My dh did one on Friday at 11.30am and didn’t get the result back until Sunday (about 46 hours)… that felt like a long time! He’s positive so the rest of us in the house are going for pcrs this afternoon… hoping we wont be waiting as long.

Coronachristmas21 · 14/12/2021 10:04

Tested at 5pm sunday in walk through site and results back at 7am.

I mean 7am the next morning. So 14 hours!

Took my son for pcr yesterday at 12.30. Result (+Ve, boo) was back by 5.30pm.

becca3210 · 14/12/2021 11:11

2pm test yesterday neg result back 9:30 this morning

Tanith · 14/12/2021 11:28

We had one on Saturday afternoon. We were told the results would be back in 24-48 hours.
In fact, we got them back on Sunday afternoon, so 24 hours.

Ahhhhhbisto · 14/12/2021 11:36

Had pcr's done yesterday at 9am.

Results came through within minutes of each other at about 4am via email and 6am via text.

1positive
2negative

Scbchl · 14/12/2021 12:25

So we got tested yesterday at half ten in the morning and received the results last night at half eleven. For those who were positive when did they tell you if it was omicron? We haven't been contacted yet, so guessing it isn't.

I think the tracing people tell you if it is Omicron-or at least they were. We had 1 person at work with Omicron and they were told when they had their phonecall, but that’s when the isolation rules were different. I’m not sure they will bother now it’s becoming dominant.

Ours took 18 hours, all 3 were negative
That was a local drive in centre and it looked busy!

sweetheartyparty · 14/12/2021 12:58

Under 12 hours for me too

Less than 24 hrs for a pre-hospital admission one.
Dropped off at my GP and sent to lab yesterday morning, results this morning, so very quick.

changingstages · 14/12/2021 13:16

ours took 50 hours, we had them on the 11th.

DDs just two days before took 13 hours!

maudmadrigal · 14/12/2021 13:36

Tested Monday morning. Took 15 hours for the results (one of each). Done a round of them this morning as well, will see what that brings. Feels like the system might be creaking!

ABitOfAShitShow · 14/12/2021 13:47

Had mine at 4pm on Saturday and had the results by 7am on Sunday. That's the fastest they've ever turned around (I think it's my 4th or 5th test).

Megan2018 · 14/12/2021 14:53

Just had it back - almost 27hrs so not too bad.

Negative! So that’s 3 positive LFD’s and 3 negative PCR’s. I won’t be wasting time doing anymore LFDs as clearly they don’t work properly on me for some reason and it’s too stressful having to keep isolating for no reason whatsoever.

If I get official symptoms I’ll do a PCR, but work can shove their twice weekly LFDs up their bum.

So weird…. My dh was v close contact to someone, for a whole weekend, who tested positive later that last evening they were together on a lateral flow (confirmed with pcr) so he had been doing lateral flows every day and 5 days later he also tested positive (again then confirmed with a pcr this weekend just gone).

There was another guy with them who also did lateral flows every day and also had a positive lateral flow 6 days after the contact. He then had a negative pcr but was still getting positive lateral flows so went for another pcr and that one is negative too 😳.

Just so bizarre that he is testing positive on lateral flows after this very close contact but is getting negative pcrs…. I thought pcrs were more sensitive that lateral flows! It makes no sense and seems really unlikely that he doesn’t have it 😳

We had a PCR at a walk in centre on Saturday afternoon and got the results Sunday afternoon.

CremeEggThief · 14/12/2021 17:56

Did a home PCR test on Saturday late lunchtime and still waiting for the result. To be honest, given the backlog, I thought my experience this time would be the norm, so am really surprised (and jealous!) several of you have had a much quicker turnaround!

QueenOfHiraeth · 14/12/2021 21:10

My results came late last night so less than 36hrs. Pretty good really

Porcupineintherough · 14/12/2021 21:53

Tested Sunday, came back Monday as "couldn't be read". Retested today now waiting again. Sad

User65412 · 15/12/2021 08:30

Sent a postal test off on friday and it's still not back today (Wednesday). Stupidly didn't take note of the tracking number either. Grrr.
