We’re a family of 5 doing daily LFTs (keep coming into contact and had family members test positive) I’m fed up ordering boxes every other day. Must cost a lot in postage. When are they going to let us order sufficient for the household ffs.

If you're ordering seven each day, how many have you got???

itwasntaparty · 13/12/2021 13:32

Thanks @cavestory is that why ther aren't any available now? We need 20 to get through the week, school and work requesting daily LFTs.

Iamanicepersonreally · 13/12/2021 14:17

@cavestory

I order a new box daily, and also order for my DM - I'm building up a stockpile as I expect they won't be free eventually. If you have a relative/neighbour who is happy to let you use their address you can order a box to be delivered to them whenever you order one? I know that if you try to re-order with the same email then they don't allow it more than once every 24 hours, but not sure what happens if you used a different name and email at the same address. May be worth trying?
How bloody selfish can you get

Well, this has aged well I see. Grin

If you pick them up from a test centre, which you can find online which ones have them, you get seven boxes at a time

minimecantrollerskate · 13/12/2021 14:34

I order 2 boxes when I order, one for me and one for my daughter (secondary school pupil) so we usually have enough to do a week/10 days, but I don't stockpile them. I currently have 2 full boxes and one half box.

Some weeks we test daily if any of her close friends have it, but if it is just generally in the school/area we test every couple of days.

Seeing as they don't have any to order online I am hoping the school will send home a box for DD to use over the holidays so we can test before staying with family over Christmas , and going to the panto etc.

isthismylifenow · 13/12/2021 14:56

@tcjotm

How much is it costing you all? They only became an option in Australia about 6 weeks ago and they look expensive. I just saw a supermarket sells a 2 pack for $30. At that price, I certainly wouldn’t be testing often!
Yeah they are not free here in SA either.

In fact they are really expensive. I don't know anyone who tests randomly as it is just so unaffordable for the average family.

To see here that people are ordering boxes on a daily basis, to just have handy and to keep.

I don't even know what to say about that.

ManorPiggy · 13/12/2021 15:02

We test quite frequently because the school expect it twice a week (2 in secondary) and work expects it whenever we go in to the office (2 adults). School send boxes home with the DC though. Wfh now so will cut down.

Seeline · 13/12/2021 15:03

They should do a sweep of school kids lockers. Hardly any of my DDs friends are testing anymore. But the schools keep handing out the kits. Some have loads in their lockers!

Incognito22333 · 13/12/2021 15:07

They have run out online today. Clearly people are stockpiling- very selfish. Just waiting for the news to kick in on this.
The British stockpiling tendency is pathological. I hope they threaten fines for addresses that have ordered way too many.

Marianne1234 · 13/12/2021 15:41

There’s no fucking way I’d be testing randomly if they were £30 for two! We’ll be taking our chances!

rrhuth · 13/12/2021 16:17

Apparently it is lack of postal slots rather than lack of tests themselves.

Werk · 13/12/2021 17:30

I have to test if I go into work (which is 3x per week) and DC are asked to when there is case in their class.
Last week we got through 20 tests as a family of 4. I have been ordering a new box as we finish one and have one spare. None available now and we are down to six tests - DD has been in contact with an omicron case so 4 tests will have to go to her so that she can go to school, she will have to isolate until next Monday and will miss her trip to see Father Christmas. I will WFH and cancel my meetings (public facing, I can't WFH all the time) I am letting people down by doing this.
I have called 5 different pharmacies and been to one collection site, all out.
This is London.
What a shambles.

You can only order one box at a time so no, it won’t be people stock piling. It’ll be everyone trying to order when they haven’t ordered before.

Well I’m in Australia and so $30 is £16 but even so, I totally agree that it’s too expensive to be testing unless you absolutely have to.
