We’re a family of 5 doing daily LFTs (keep coming into contact and had family members test positive) I’m fed up ordering boxes every other day. Must cost a lot in postage. When are they going to let us order sufficient for the household ffs.

Bloody Covid really is the gift that keeps on giving isn’t it? When you think of the deaths, the long term impact of long Covid, the psychological impact on medical staff, the psychological impact on us generally, the developmental effects on children and young people, the strain on health services around the world, the economic impact and the environmental impact of tests, masks etc etc - it’s almost inconceivable.

And when we think here may be light at the end of the tunnel along comes another variant.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 13/12/2021 12:03

I just tried to order a box for work in the NHS nexct week because we have to order them like everyone else and there aren't any left.

AnyFucker · 13/12/2021 12:05

In the news today that the govt site has no availability for ordering LFTs

Calmamongthechaos · 13/12/2021 12:09

People shouldn’t be allowed to order anymore than they need. How can it be right that some are sitting with a stockpile and others have none at all?

rrhuth · 13/12/2021 12:14

It feels a bit chaotic Sad

Jayaywhynot · 13/12/2021 12:18

Get them from the chemist, apply on line, get a QR code, show the chemist and ask for 2 packs, you're allowed the 2 packs

dementedpixie · 13/12/2021 12:20

Come to Scotland. I got given 4 boxes at the sports centre this morning. No need to order or give a code. They had loads

rrhuth · 13/12/2021 12:25

I wonder if they have realised the English plan for 7 days' of lft testing instead of isolation will wipe out all stocks?

Scotland much better at planning it seems.

Phrenologistsfinger · 13/12/2021 12:30

I hope the selfish stockpilers e.g. @cavestory
are happy now that we have run out of LFTs in England! Ordering one pack a day to hoard them is madness and you truly disgust me! Angry

bigbluebus · 13/12/2021 12:33

I've been to the local library this morning. I usually pick up one or 2 boxes but there a 3 adults in the house, 2 working (testing not required for one) but we also have some small social events so always test before those. I asked how many boxes I could have and the librarian gave me 4 - so we're well stocked now unless we have to start testing every day.

dementedpixie · 13/12/2021 12:33

They made a bajillion boxes of tests. They will be out there but just not in the right place. Stupid to make an announcement about daily testing without making sure you had sufficient tests for everyone to use

Calmamongthechaos · 13/12/2021 12:35

@Phrenologistsfinger a colleague of mine has been doing this for weeks if not longer. It’s just her and her husband at home and there’s just no way they need the volume she must have built up in that time. It’s quite shocking really.

@cavestory

I order a new box daily, and also order for my DM - I'm building up a stockpile as I expect they won't be free eventually. If you have a relative/neighbour who is happy to let you use their address you can order a box to be delivered to them whenever you order one? I know that if you try to re-order with the same email then they don't allow it more than once every 24 hours, but not sure what happens if you used a different name and email at the same address. May be worth trying?
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Iamanicepersonreally · 13/12/2021 12:43

I absolutely agree with this

That right there is the reason people have problems getting them when they need them.

Ridiculous stockpiling them in case you eventually have to pay when people actually need them now - selfishness at its finest

HerbertChops · 13/12/2021 12:53

Same, ds positive and all doing LFTs, am ordering them everyday at the moment as they take two days to arrive, can’t understand why they can’t send two boxes at once if household member has tested positive

One of the most selfish and entitled posts I've ever read on here. I'm in total disbelief. What hope have we got between Boris as PM and selfish stockpilers? Wow.
Marianne1234 · 13/12/2021 12:54

I’m in scotland and I can’t order any either 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheNightBefore · 13/12/2021 12:55

At least we offset the amount of plastic by the couple of pre covid years with everyone using paper straws 😵‍💫

tcjotm · 13/12/2021 12:55

How much is it costing you all? They only became an option in Australia about 6 weeks ago and they look expensive. I just saw a supermarket sells a 2 pack for $30. At that price, I certainly wouldn’t be testing often!

dementedpixie · 13/12/2021 12:56

Our lft tests are free

tcjotm · 13/12/2021 12:58

Thanks @dementedpixie that explains the stockpiling!

What a fantastic idea! And now there is a shortage because of idiots like you

You're an absolute plank.
JustABloodyMinute · 13/12/2021 13:25

It's not great for the environment for them to be posted out one pack at a time. Much as people shouldn't be stockpiling them it makes sense to be able to order e.g. for a family, in the one package. Better still, collect them from a local pharmacy etc, if possible, saves on delivery and cost.
