Did your periods go a bit odd when you had COVID?

Or the vaccine, for that matter. I'm double jabbed and didn't notice any unusual/untimely bleeding with either jab. However, I've tested positive for COVID this week and have started bleeding lightly, despite ostensibly being right in the middle of my cycle (ie at ovulation). This amount of bleeding at this time in my cycle is not normal for me and makes me suspect that the infection has something to do with it. I've read rumblings to this effect in the news but nothing definite.

Anyone else experienced this?

Mine was the opposite. I was soooooo heavy and the worst period pain ever. Went on a full week too

I have covid and am having quite a heavy period, I usually only spot for a few days so this is completely different!

RMS0209 · 30/01/2022 22:29

@Cardio101 hello! this is the same as me, I normally only bleed for 5 days... this is coming up for 8 now (2 days spotting)

@KissKissButtCheek @maddy68 thanks guys for letting me know what side effects you's had, I am hoping the bleeding stops tomorrow/ ASAP x

Covid didn't affect mine but vaccines did

This is interesting- especially a pp who mentioned the day they stopped bleeding was the day their smell came back. Same here, i had covid, started bleeding mid cycle and it went on for 3 weeks and stopped exact same day my smell came back. Thought was strange coincidence. I saw a gynae specialist last week who said covid, like all viruses / stress, was impacting peoples cycles.

@piglets29 thanks for that too. Reassuring. I have had no symptoms but feel a little more relaxed with it now. X

Strange though as I've had many many viruses and lots of stress in my lifetime but none of it has ever affected my periods before

Interesting, I didn't know it was possibly a thing. I started my period on day 14 of my cycle, on the day I tested positive, but after a couple of days of feeling rough like I was coming down with something.
My periods have been like clockwork for years apart from now with covid and once last year, although last year's wasn't with the vaccine it was a little after the vaccine so don't know if that still counts.

perfectSmiles3 · 30/01/2022 23:48

Mine wasn't affected by covid, but my 21 year old goddaughter, who got jabbed early overseas, hasn't had a period for nearly a year since she had the first pfizer.

Just spoke to DR, so I have been "spotting" 23rd & 24th and then actual AF from 25th so this is day 7 of AF and day 9 of bleeding... she doesn't seem concerned, I however am. Said it can take a few weeks to settle down and get back to normal Sad
