Anyone had a PCR recently and can share how long it took for the results to come in please?

Got one child isolating at home with symptoms. Second child isolating under school rules. Hoping second child can go back tomorrow if we get a negative result.

26 hours after

60 hours and 2.5days later I've finally got my negative result at 5am. Just shouted it out at my sleeping dp 😂

It means I'll be back working in the office next week, so got loads of birthday plans I can get back to thankfully.

Hurray! 47 hours here and we finally got the negative result so we can take DC out to get a Christmas tree.

It does put me off testing though. DC was only coughing for a morning in the end. Will probably take a bit more of a wait and see approach in future.

Our postal one is in now too- posted Thursday lunch time, results emailed at midnight last night (Friday) with the text at 6am today (Saturday). Negative!
There's about a 1/4 chance that a "cold" is Covid at the moment, apparently, so testing is still important. And results are mostly fast (especially from a test centre).

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/12/2021 12:49

Did an at home one. Posted it at 2pm on Sunday,to catch the 3:45 collection. Result 9am Monday morning.

Dp tested at 4pm yesterday and results back at 7am today. Southwest.

DriftingPlateTectonic · 04/12/2021 15:55

Drive through test at 9am yesterday. No results yet.

Brill, about time too! I won't be doing pcr again either I don't think unless I'm really poorly, just takes too long and I've had 2 nights of unsettled sleep because of it.

DustyDoorframes · 04/12/2021 22:46

@Nomorecoco even if you decide to carry on as normal and not isolate, are you not better off testing? If you are not isolating then it makes no odds how long it takes, surely?

I think we have a low tolerance for testing simply because our results have been coming through so quickly (usually 12-14 hours) so it’s not been too disruptive. If our results were taking days to come through each time then we may raise our bar a little higher.

Test sent out on Wednesday, no results so phoned this morning to chase up and received result this afternoon

dizzydizzydizzy · 07/12/2021 05:54

I did a postal test 2 weeks ago. Put the test in the letterbox for the 3:45pm collection. Got negative result about 9am next day.

awishes · 07/12/2021 07:15

Home test popped in priority post box on Sunday at 3pm, received the result at 8:30 am on Monday!
It made me think if we can do this so well why can't we improve other things in this country but now after this thread Incan see the inconsistency across the country.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/12/2021 09:22

Walk in centre yesterday morning, Tests taken at 8am.

Email results came just after midnight, text results 6am today.

Moral of the story - check your emails!!
