Anyone had a PCR recently and can share how long it took for the results to come in please?

Got one child isolating at home with symptoms. Second child isolating under school rules. Hoping second child can go back tomorrow if we get a negative result.

Had one on Tuesday - got the results exactly 24 hours after I tested.

Sparkle275 · 02/12/2021 15:24

DD had one Monday at test centre positive result came back in 12 hours. 3 of us got tested yesterday at test centre and positive results back in 13 hours. In the North East they appear to be coming back quickly recently. Hope the results come back quickly and negative for you.

DS had a test at 10am this morning in a drive through centre. I'm hoping it's back before school tomorrow, we'll see.

Drive through one yesterday at 1, result (inconclusive) at 11am today (London). Posted the replacement this afternoon as no car access today. Really hoping it doesn't take ages.

lebkuchenforxmas · 02/12/2021 16:14

Tested at 9.30am yesterday. Result through at 9.45pm!
Had previously done a home test which was ordered Thurs evening, delivered Sat lunchtime and results through Tues evening!
I will definitely be sticking to test centres going forward.

sofakingcool · 02/12/2021 16:16

3 in the house had the one last week

20 hrs, 18hrs and 21hrs

Spirael · 02/12/2021 16:18

Tested the whole family at 9am on Tuesday at one of the drive-through centres. Results received on Wednesday; half of them at 6am and the other half at 10am. This was in West Yorkshire.

Caliexpidocioussuper · 02/12/2021 16:19

23 hours and 19 hours respectively.

MerryChristmas31 · 02/12/2021 16:22

Dd has had 3 tests (all negative) recently. Her results have been back within 14 hours ish each time. Tested in morning at drive through site and results at midnight. Southwest.

Snozwanger · 02/12/2021 16:31

We all had tests yesterday at 4pm
And still waiting 24 hours later.

JessicaKenny2018 · 02/12/2021 16:43

Home test on Tuesday for me and ds who is autistic and wouldn't tolerate a pcr in the car, still waiting on results

emvy · 02/12/2021 19:41

Found this thread as I’m awaiting PCR results for my son… we’re still waiting after 30 hours. What was everybody told in terms of wait times at the centre? We were told 48-72 hours but everyone I’ve heard got their results sooner. We’re Gloucestershire if any has had one there!

Nomorecoco · 02/12/2021 19:52

I had mine at 4. 30 yesterday and still waiting, ive usually had them back within 12 hours 😔
Muchtoomuchtodo · 02/12/2021 19:54

South Wales here.
We’ve had someone needing a PCR weekly recently thanks to T&T.
Most have been coming through in 12-13 hours, last week was very slow - 15 hours!
Hope you’re not waiting too long

ohtsmeagain · 02/12/2021 19:55

2.5 days

seaduck · 02/12/2021 19:56

We had one Tuesday morning at 9.30 and back lunchtime Wednesday so 26 hours ish.

Nomorecoco · 03/12/2021 06:16

Any body still waiting? This wait time has put me off doing another pcr tbh

Mumofboys1 · 03/12/2021 06:22

We are usually around 12 hours, this week it was about 20, however my in-laws had one as a result of my sons positive result, that was about 30 hours.

Yellowrose22 · 03/12/2021 06:31

38 hours since postal test was collected by the postman and still waiting (West Sussex)

LilithImpala67 · 03/12/2021 07:11

We had 29 hours this week, quickest has been 19 and slowest was 42. That's in the South West.

lebkuchenforxmas · 03/12/2021 07:58

What do you mean @Nomorecoco? If you're testing because you're a close contact, then you don't need to isolate whilst waiting for the results so the wait time doesn't hinder you in any way; if you're testing because you're symptomatic then, if you didn't do a PCR, you should isolate for the full 10 days if you don't do a test so, whilst the wait for the PCR is frustrating, it might be your key to freedom.

Musmerian · 03/12/2021 08:01

Did PCR at 5.30 on a Tuesday evening and had results by 7.15 the next morning. DH and DS a little longer but not much.

frozendaisy · 03/12/2021 08:51

Almost 48hrs bang on from posting a home PCR test

Nomorecoco · 03/12/2021 10:07

41 hours waiting now, from a drive in test. Ridiculous. Wasn't even busy.

And I mean I'd just not isolate if had symptoms.

I've not been able to fully isolate this time tbh but have been wfh. I'm ready for the selfish comments though. 🙄
