Spain effectively banning UK children from entering country

Anyone planning a Christmas holiday to Spain or the Canaries? You might have to rethink your plans. News broke overnight that Spain is only allowing fully vaccinated – ie, double jabbed – travellers from the UK and NI to enter the country, meaning anyone over 12 won't get in because they're only allowed one jab as things stand.

Well Spain and the canaries can lose out on their tourism money then can’t they Grin

Child free resorts?! I'm in! Grin
(Joke)

Sombra · 28/11/2021 09:33

What happens if a child has had both jabs. They haven't got access to the Covid passport app so does that mean they still can't travel?

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 28/11/2021 09:34

It's how it is at the moment

What do you want people to do? Complain and cause a fuss, try and create a discriminatory case out of it?

ThirdElephant · 28/11/2021 09:34

So, you can bring under twelves?

NOTANUM · 28/11/2021 09:35

This was part of the reason I have put off planned trips over Christmas to Europe. It was inevitable that our children would be classed as unvaccinated as we are the only country not giving two doses as standard.

All those going skiing will be in a tight spot I’d say. Some resorts are saying you scan your vaccine passports for ski lifts!

gogohm · 28/11/2021 09:35

We had to show our vaccination record to get in 2 weeks ago so actually nothing has changed for adults, all over 12's (term time so no older children on flight)

Yes, it means that they can’t travel.

Sombra · 28/11/2021 09:39

@CactusFlowers I thought I had read that if you don't have access to a smart phone then you can request paper copy from 119, so even that doesn't include under 16s? It's ridiculous

Flyonawalk · 28/11/2021 09:40

Presumably this will change when Spain analyse the devastating effect on their tourist industry.

Whammyyammy · 28/11/2021 09:42

I hope this is a permanent thing how much more relaxing will spaun be. Well done Spain.

I know that.

Why are people snapping at the OP? She literally posted saying people may have to rethink their plans, nothing else. Anything covid related makes people so angry it's a joke.

GaladrielHiggins · 28/11/2021 09:43

I’m worried because DS turns 12 in June and we are booked for Spain in July so there is no way he could be double jabbed for travel.

Loudestcat14 · 28/11/2021 09:43

@MrsLargeEmbodied

Nowhere in my post did I moan or say a fuss should be made. I simply posted it for information.

Doubtful as children don't tend to earn or spend a lot of money. We pay extra and book adult free hotels, now have the added bonus of child free flights and beaches 🍾🍾

Thank you. I simply posted it for information, because I had seen a thread this morning about someone's DD going to Tenerife. So much snippiness for a Sunday morning!

Not really, given that under 12s are still allowed to travel.

Because it's impssible to tell tone from typing and to me at least it reads like she's gloating or saying Spain is wrong I'm sure that's not the intention but I can understand some of the replies
PAFMO · 28/11/2021 09:47

Maybe take it up with the only govt in Europe that didn't think vaccinating teenagers mattered.
