Health Secretary has just said two cases have been found here. That was quick!

I'm in Brentwood and the places they are doing surge testing are a school, a church and a kfc where people were on a Friday afternoon so basically places where it could be spread very easily.

I heard that they were looking for people who went to KFC between 1 and 5 pm. Either they are being super cautious or someone was in KFC for a very long time! Hopefully the former.

Yes that's right. It's always full of school children at that time so I imagine it has spread if the infected person was there that long!

"I heard that they were looking for people who went to KFC between 1 and 5 pm. Either they are being super cautious or someone was in KFC for a very long time! Hopefully the former."

Why assume it's a customer and not a member of staff? Four hours sounds like a shift to me.

quiteathome · 29/11/2021 12:52

Hopefully cautious. And at this stage caution is good. Although it sounds like it has already had community spread.

Fair point

Someone on Twitter pointed out that they are looking for people in kfc and the church LAST weekend, I.e before all this kicked off. So basically it must have been in the country for at least a week already. We can only hope that those it has affected figured out they had covid and stayed at home.

As three are cases in England and Scotland I have decided to blame the rugby matches. Therefore already here. And as usual we are behind with it all.

manolantern · 29/11/2021 16:41

Found in Wandsworth and Camden now too, both cases linked to travel to South Africa.

According to the BBC the Omicron variant has been found in positive tests taken in the Netherlands on 19 and 23 November, so this thing is everywhere and has likely been in circulation for at least a week longer than originally thought.

9 cases of Omicron Covid variant identified in Scotland so far are all linked to a private event held on 20 November. More cases linked to this event are expected. None of those who tested positive have required hospital care. Says Nicolas Sturgeon

Madmog · 30/11/2021 16:21

11 English cases are in a number of London boroughs, only 1/2 from each.

One in Liverpool too.

It is astonishing how he just completely fails to answer some questions.

To be fair, some of the questions are fucking ridiculous. ‘When will this end?’ How the fuck would he know? I’m surprised some of these questions get approved.
