Arrrgh! So they've had their original jabs after MUCH persuasion. But now they won't get the booster 🙈

How can I persuade them this is a bad idea?! Really quite worried about them.

The absolute gall some people have never ceases to amaze me.

MammaLovesLeopard · 22/11/2021 20:04

@DaisyNGO

Leave them alone I had 3 due to health issues

It's their right to choose but I am a bit stunned at healthy folk being asked to have a third.

Hmmm maybe the healthy folk are healthy because they had the other vaccines....

Assuming they are open to a conversation (obvs if they're not, they're not):

  • If they've already had an mRNA vaccine without issue, then I would gently question why they are concerned about having a 3rd dose of a similar vaccine. (Appreciate if they've had AZ that argument doesn't work as well.)
  • Regarding the usefulness of the vaccines: having a three dose vaccine is not that unusual. E.g. the hepatitis B vaccine is given as 3 doses in the UK in order to be fully effective.

At some point though, you may just have to leave it.

Unlikely. A ventilator isn't generally used for covid anymore. It's a virus, not a morality tale
KrispyKale · 22/11/2021 20:23

I guess 2 vaccines in they will be in a better position than those who haven't had any.

DaisyNGO · 22/11/2021 20:23

OP "Hmmm maybe the healthy folk are healthy because they had the other vaccines...."

Which others? She has had two covid vaccines too?

I am cconfused.

SLH2003 · 22/11/2021 20:30

@Motherdare

I’ve had both vaccines and still caught Covid.

Not a great advert for the vaccine tbh.

It wasn’t a mild dose either. I felt very unwell.

Oh, of course, without the vaccine I’d have been on a ventilator…. Hmm

Or dead.
tigger1001 · 22/11/2021 20:37

If they were anti vax then they wouldn't take the vaccine. So they are not anti vax.

It's not your place to persuade then to get the booster. I suspect a lot of people feel like that.

Thanks @BoredtoTiers have been trying to understand. I will of course leave it. I don't wish to argue.

I’m double jabbed, and had Covid despite having both doses. I had side effects after the second jab. I don’t want a booster. I don’t plan on getting one. I don’t fancy trying a different vaccine. You need to leave your friend alone.

CrunchyCarrot · 23/11/2021 09:36

They're old enough to make their own decisions themselves, let them be!

MaxNormal · 23/11/2021 09:41

Is this an actual joke? Leave them alone.

Rosadalin · 23/11/2021 23:24

This is why I struggle to come onto this forum anymore, Anti Vaxer friend - who has had 2 doses of a covid vaccine? Seriously?

Valhalla17 · 24/11/2021 00:08

You need to mind your business quite frankly OP.

Sorry to hear this @Motherdare, I hope you're feeling better now.

An unvaccinated friend of mine was admitted to hospital with Covid recently. He was on a ward with three other patients, all of whom were double-vaccinated.

It really isn't a great advertisement for the vaccine. It'd be interesting to see the statistics to support the government's claims that the vast majority of hospital patients with Covid are unvaccinated.

@SLH2003

I have an antivaxer friend, we did our best to persuade him getting the vaccine made sense but he chose not to and is currently into week 3 in the ICU.
Update, he sadly passed away on Sunday.
XenoBitch · 25/11/2021 20:31

Sorry to hear that @SLH2003

GodIsAVegan · 25/11/2021 20:37

Update, he sadly passed away on Sunday.

You posted on Monday to say he was currently in ICU...but he’d already died? How sad. Sorry to hear that.

Yes found out Tuesday morning he'd died. Up till Friday wed been talking on WhatsApp, but then nothing over the weekend. I was worried he'd crashed and was on a ventilator, but he had died.

Sorry but they aren't anti vaxxers.
I know three and they are very different.
The things they have said and the things they have shared have really made me question whether I want them in my life.
I do not care whether they or anyone else is vaccinated but when you try to change people's minds by sharing misinformation than that is overstepping.
