Have I messed up on booster date?

I am in the 50+ group so was able to book my booster a few weeks ago. I took the first date offered on the system, which was 2nd December; I had my second jab on 5th June so it is just less than six months (178 days to be precise)

I’ve just seen on another thread that someone was turned away for it not being a full six months in between - is this a thing? It seems like I might have cocked up with the dates - but I just went with what was offered. Can anyone that knows about this advise please? The NHS website does say six months actually!

I got questioned about why I was getting my booster now, why I qualify now and not with the rest of my age group. (I am a carer)

The nurse even went as far as asking me what conditions my child had.

The screen clearly showed how long ago my last vaccine was and I was two days over this cut off. Even if I wasn’t a carer - the fact that the dates show I should be having it should have been enough surely?

Perhaps they should have interrogated the lot that claimed to be carers a few months back when they weren’t Hmm

I don't know- maybe they had more info than they appeared to have. It all just seemed very casual!

I expect I just didn't see the inner workings.

@Delatron

I think this is ridiculous. Turning people away over a day or so. There’s no safety reason for 6 months versus a 5 months and 3 weeks is there?

We need as many boosters in arms before all the Christmas parties and mixing.

It was annoyingly strict with the first vaccinations too. I nearly got turned away from my first because I had managed to book it for the first day my age group was eligible - and the vaccination centre staff said they wouldn't expect people my age to come until the day after. As if 24 hours really makes a difference (plus the booking system had allowed me to book so it's not like I was somehow cheating the system!).

I guess they need to put the cut off point somewhere and it's easier for the staff and volunteers if they can just say "that's the rules" instead of looking at it on a case by case basis.
