Have I messed up on booster date?

PlinkPlankPlunk · 21/11/2021 06:38

I am in the 50+ group so was able to book my booster a few weeks ago. I took the first date offered on the system, which was 2nd December; I had my second jab on 5th June so it is just less than six months (178 days to be precise)

I’ve just seen on another thread that someone was turned away for it not being a full six months in between - is this a thing? It seems like I might have cocked up with the dates - but I just went with what was offered. Can anyone that knows about this advise please? The NHS website does say six months actually!

Yes it's 182 days from your second vaccine. You might get lucky and they'll allow it but I know when I went they had a white board up with the date you'd have to have had your second vaccine to be allowed the jab that day and they were turning people away that had a later date. Is it possible to rebook for the following week just so you don't have to worry you won't get it?

PlinkPlankPlunk · 21/11/2021 06:56

Gah - yes I’ll have to re-do it. Not sure how long I’ll have to wait now but it’ll be better to try to rearrange now then wait, get turned away and then look for a slot! Thanks

My doctor actually booked me in at 25 weeks. Only reason I had it at 26 weeks was because I qualified under Healthcare and could get an appointment a lot nearer.

My Mum at same surgery and actually had hers at 25 weeks.

I went on Friday. I'm 42 but on an earlier cycle as I'm a special needs teacher.

The vaccination centre asked no questions at all. Not when my last vaccine was nor what job I did (hence early eligibility).

LizzieMacQueen · 21/11/2021 07:27

Like you I booked one of the first dates so had my booster at 23 weeks and 1 day. I think you'll be ok. In fact my DH asked at his ( he was also 23 weeks plus ? Days ) and was told as long as time was more than 22 weeks they'd vaccinate. Apparently the guidance had changed to allow this. This was Forth Valley. Scotland.

I had my booster booked for the 5th of December but had a text on Thursday to say it was cancelled. I think it must have been because I would have been a day early,I hadn't realised at the time of booking - my second jab was the 6th of June. My booster is now booked for the 7th of December.

Sadless · 21/11/2021 07:33

I had the booster yesterday I was told when I was there the cut off point was the 21st of May for last jab. I had the last one on the 23rd of May so just passed that date. I was booked in on the booking website so assuming if they offer that day you can have it on that day.

Thank you
Sal

It’s changed to 5 months 152 days

Savoretti · 21/11/2021 07:38

Ah no it hasnt sorry - that’s when you can book it…

RagzReturnsRebooted · 21/11/2021 07:41

We had to turn someone away yesterday at 181 days. Not sure why the system let them book, if we weren't allowed to give it. Felt really sorry for the person, it wasn't their fault!

shouldistop · 21/11/2021 07:47

My husband has been given an appointment thats only 4 months from his second jag. He's only 36. It's weird

Iamanicepersonreally · 21/11/2021 07:50

The booking system just gives available appointments, whether or not they're suitable for the person trying to book. Might be an idea to amend it ASAP

Newchallenge · 21/11/2021 07:52

There was a brief period when you could book a booster at 5 months. You might be lucky; you might get turned away. Depends how strict the vaccination centre is. Probably worth rebooking.

manolantern · 21/11/2021 07:52

I had the Pfizer booster yesterday at 170 days! At Guy's Hospital in London. I'm 43 and group 6, CV. They said they are doing them before six months.

I was booked for 7pm but they messaged me earlier saying that I could rebook it any time so I had it at midday. So looks like they have more capacity than is currently being used up and they have permission to go under six months.

So I guess then it will depend on how much supply and demand there is in your are

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 21/11/2021 08:11

My husband’s appointment for today was cancelled as his 6 months date is tomorrow.

Groovee · 21/11/2021 08:12

There were people turned away last night for not having 24 weeks between the dates.

I had 26 weeks so was fine.

itiswhatitisandalwayswillbe · 21/11/2021 08:19

I had mine at under 24 weeks. They asked if I realised it was early but I honestly didn't have a clue, I just booked the most convenient date as I'm in and out of hospital at the moment. No problems and no side effects either.

Perihelion · 21/11/2021 08:31

Scotland officially is 24 weeks between s

PlinkPlankPlunk · 21/11/2021 08:31

Thanks everyone - I’ve rebooked it just in case.

Annoyed that it’s now two weeks later and means the extra protection won’t have kicked in before all the end of term gatherings etc, but VERY grateful to be getting it anyway!

Scotland is officially 24 weeks between second dose and booster.

Cookerhood · 21/11/2021 09:14

It will depend on the vaccination centre. We are allowing 5 months, but not all will.

Spacemonkey2016 · 21/11/2021 09:17

My colleague was turned away this week for 181 days. Had to return the next day. Apparently there was a long queue of people in the same situation.

Mindymomo · 21/11/2021 09:34

I had my booster on Friday, booked on nhs website. It was 3 days before my 6 months date. They said at vaccine centre 1 week before is fine and that they’ve been told they are to do them, but I had to read something on the screen to say I knew I was having booster before the recommended 6 months.

Savoretti · 21/11/2021 09:39

The booking system only showed me dates to book after the 182 days

burnoutbabe · 21/11/2021 09:40

I booked the booster yesterday (I am 48) and first appointment I can get is exactly 6 months after my last one -ie both on same day of the month, which is 3 weeks away.

So the online booking system is now doing it correctly.
