Is your employer sending you home to work?

We all had to get back to our offices and some have, some haven't.

Is there anyone that has been given the green light to go back and if so, with the recent spike in numbers, have you since been told to return to home working?

No. Quite happy back at work out of the house - back to civilisation!

xksismybestletter · 26/10/2021 22:39

Nope. I am the employer and am not planning to issue a wfh. If we are instructed to I will be leaning heavily on the "if you can"

bumblingbovine49 · 27/10/2021 08:20

I'm still working at home. Not due to go back until January

Nidan2Sandan · 27/10/2021 20:27

I'm back in the office, no sign of being told to wfh just yet.

AlexaShutUp · 27/10/2021 20:35

My team has been back in the office for a while. We have been doing a hybrid between wfh and office for most people, with a small number of people who are contracted to work exclusively from home and a few who choose to work exclusively in the office. In response to rising case numbers, we are giving hybrid workers the option of doing more time wfh, so their presence in the office will now be fairly limited, but we are not giving them the option of doing everything from home. Most, but not all, people are choosing to take us up on the extra wfh time.

Some people don't seem to get on with wfh because it has a negative impact on their mental health. Others went slightly feral when they weren't in the office at all. I think it's good to have a balance.

QueenofLouisiana · 27/10/2021 20:37

No, I don't think the parents of my class would like it very much. I caught covid from school last half term so I'm not dreading the next few weeks as much as many of my colleagues, I'm hoping I now have a reasonable level of immunity.

We have a large number of restrictions going back into place as there is a great spike in cases within the county.

User7261498 · 27/10/2021 20:39

Working from home still, with no mention of going back to the office

Mantlemoose · 27/10/2021 20:39

Been back for months and no intention wfh ever again. Particularly in my Baltic house in winter!

NotMyCat · 27/10/2021 20:39

Still at home, most of my colleagues are back in but I'm staying home

User527294627 · 27/10/2021 20:41

We’ve been told we’re welcome to return to the office if we want to, but not required if we don’t. Most of us are doing a hybrid model with some days at home and some in the office.

generalh · 27/10/2021 20:42

I am a teacher and I hope we never have to teach from home again. Soul destroying on times.

mynameiscalypso · 27/10/2021 20:43

We've been hybrid since Sept. Most people do two or three days in the office depending on their circumstances at home. It's all very normal. Nobody's talking about fully home working again although people can generally do what they want.

WhiteChocTwix · 27/10/2021 20:59

Hybrid working here. 2 days at home and 3 days in. My office has loads of precautions still, masks when moving around. Every other desk occupied. Limited numbers in certain areas, increased ventilation and enhanced cleaning. Feels like a good balance.

Albertinier · 27/10/2021 21:04

We had been going in, then very recently told not to.

Bobholll · 27/10/2021 21:06

Permanent hybrid working here. No change. The company have said they’ll follow whatever guidelines there are. If the govmt says WFH again, we will. If not, we won’t.

My US colleagues are still at home until January.

NavigatingAdolescence · 27/10/2021 21:11

Worked on hybrid basis throughout.

Wales still has “if you can work from home you should” guidance so nothing changing anytime soon.

RoseMartha · 27/10/2021 21:15

Post lockdown, I was half and half but as there is now no working pc there for me to use I am wfh and pop onto office once a week.

Comefromaway · 27/10/2021 21:20

We have all been full time in the office since Sept 2020 apart from anyone with a positive case in the household.

So far only 1 member of office staff has tested positive and there has been no workplace transmission.

Crunchymum · 27/10/2021 21:32

Still WFH but office/s (we have a few) are open.

Office attendance is voluntary for the rest of 2021 and the plan is for people to choose either 1) WFH full time 2) hybrid or 3) Office full time depending on their team and role etc.

Most people will end up doing hybrid I'm sure although there are some people (like the office manager) who will need to be in the office full time and there are others who have been recruited since the pandemic with contracts for permanent WFH.

I'd personally like to stay WFH but I doubt that would get approved, so hybrid it will be. Not sure how that works for me as I'm part time (3 days per week)

LilyPond2 · 27/10/2021 22:03

We have been hybrid working since September - expected to be in the office at least 2 days a week. However, a planned social event has recently been cancelled due to the increase in the number of Covid cases. We are also told we must WFH if anyone in our household has Covid.

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/10/2021 22:04

I don’t do paid work but husband has been wfh since Jan 2019 and there are no plans at all on the table to go back. Productivity/results have significantly improved.

Whathefisgoingon · 27/10/2021 22:52

No, and my employers heavily resisted it last time too.

They are currently busy cooping desks together and taking down screens in order to recruit more people.

Covid is “over” they say. Disgraceful.

whereisthekey · 27/10/2021 22:55

covid is over and has been for 7 months in my office too. they said no wfh again.

nex18 · 27/10/2021 22:59

I never made it back to the office, return was planned but has been postponed due to high case numbers locally. I’m destined to be at my kitchen forever . I want some kind of return to reality now.

QueefofSheena · 27/10/2021 23:03

We were finally back in my office, with a bit of flexibility if we want to WFH on a particular day. My boss is very cautious though, so I think we’ll go back to only having one in, and taking turns.
