How many of you will comply?

I am interested to know if people will comply or not if they bring in Restrictions again about not mixing households, not seeing family or lockdowns etc again.
So many people I've spoken to are pretty much all of the same mindset of 'Fu#k that I'm not not seeing my family again, enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives now'
I also read this a lot on comments of articles where people are saying no they won't do it again and not see their loved ones or be told what to do over Christmas etc.

What are everyone's overall feelings as things stand right now?

@Waxonwaxoff0 - you ‘barely use the NHS’! Lucky you!

Overthebow · 21/10/2021 19:48

@einekleinenachtarbeit

What will people do if the NHS is overwhelmed again ? It's easy enough saying I wouldn't comply but what if ICUs do become full of covid/flu patients ? Would you just carry on mixing and socialising despite advice not to ?
Yes I'll carry on socialising as normal. I'm not doing it again. I was pretty traumatised after the last time, having had a baby in lockdown. I won't put myself and my baby through that again, no way. I'll put my family first this time.
IndigoC · 21/10/2021 19:49

Of course I’ll comply. This government will only go there too late, and it will likely have to go there because it refuses to implement moderate measures now, but I won’t put unnecessary pressure on the healthcare workers that have already had to endure too much.

Dogknowsbest · 21/10/2021 19:49

I'll do what's right but not out of loyalty to anyone other than my elderly mother, my kids who haven't yet been vaccinated and my best friend who works as an ICU nurse and has been through he'll in the past 2 years. I'm really fed up of the whinging that started about facemasks as soon as restrictions were lifted. If facemasks were still mandatory in public places we wouldn't be back in this position. I'm hoping every single person who is a denier gets a healthy dose of it.

@lljkk

MN is the place where Labour won by a landslide in 2019 -- according to the voting intention threads.

Just saying.

Well MNs demographic is women of childbearing age. So given the age cleavage in UK politics, it's surely not a great surprise that it leans much more Labour than a voting population where women of childbearing age are a fairly small minority. A pensioner only forum at the same time would likely have skewed much more Tory than the voters actually did.

Similarly, because of the demographic of MN posters there's probably eg more anger on here about the way children have been treated during the pandemic than there might be on a forum catering primarily for people who aren't as aware of this. This forum is likely to contain one of the highest concentrations of women who gave birth during lockdown and are angry about what it was considered acceptable for them to put up with. That kind of thing. So of course that makes a difference to what's posted.

Assuming we’ve had our boosters, CEV husband and I will be seeing our children and grandchild. Happy to mask wear, social distance and not go to pubs and restaurants (have been following that since restrictions eased anyway).

sleepwouldbenice · 21/10/2021 19:53

@Pan2

I don't think people really understand what overwhelming the NHS actually looks like. It doesn't take a lot but imagine for a few minutes. And have a reconsideration of masks or not.
Agreed. They’ve forgotten Italy, New York etc But it will still be someone else’s fault and not their problem. Because, you know, enough is enough
ForkedIt · 21/10/2021 19:54

I’d comply because it’d be very easy for me to.
My mum would count as childcare for my 2 year old and we have a young baby so would be allowed to form a support bubble with her household.
I wouldn’t comply if I couldn’t see my Mum - see point above about having a 2 year old and a newborn!

FlyingWhistle · 21/10/2021 19:55

Happy to comply.

Chakraleaf · 21/10/2021 19:56

@SixTwirlingTutus

I will comply. I have a DC who is immuno compromised. And I don't have any relatives I will need to visit as they are either too far away or abroad, so there are no competing obligations. Plus DH can easily work from home and I will have finished work by then.

So, I will comply because I have a motivation to (DS) and because it is easy for us to do so (don't have to go outside to work). I understand it is not that easy for others though, and that others have other obligations and needs.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 21/10/2021 19:59

Well quite clearly none of us are going to be breaking into non-essential shops and hospitality.

But no, I won't be stopping seeing friends/family or having people in the house again.

Watapalava · 21/10/2021 20:23

no

didnt comply last time so wont this time

I will obv wear masks etc as i would need to for shops etc but wont follow social rules in any way

Puffykins · 21/10/2021 20:28

I'll comply. Again it's easy for me to do so - I work from home anyway and my family all live some distance away.

TacoTues · 21/10/2021 20:37

Sorry to say I'll comply when it suits me.

A few shitty family members who I will very much relish the excuse to avoid over the festive season.

But for people I genuinely want to see then no. I'll not comply.

Chloemol · 21/10/2021 20:38

I will comply

I have friends with Long Covid, I know people who have had family members die,

I don’t want that to happen to anyone, so unlike lots on here I am prepared to do what is considered necessary to ensure we reduce cases

Those that won’t comply, shame on you

almaonao · 21/10/2021 20:41

I hardly see anyone or go anywhere anymore Hmmbut still won't be complying. Fuck covid and fuck Boris.

shouldistop · 21/10/2021 20:41

Hahahaha get fucked
shouldistop · 21/10/2021 20:43

@almaonao I was quoting a pp btw. The meme was my reply.

savagebaggagemaster · 21/10/2021 20:50

I'm in Scotland so already wearing mask, etc. It doesn't bother me in the slightest wearing a mask in shops.
I'll never be asked to work from home again because of my job.
I'm just sad my ECV parents are petrified of Covid understandably and are too afraid to meet up with us.
I feel in total despair at the uk government - they've lied and bullshitted all the way through this.
Pretending to support the nhs at the beginning so they could run it into the ground and privatise it by the back door.
I'm no conspiracy theorist and I try not to be cynical, but I fully believe that's what is happening here. Sad

2389Champ · 21/10/2021 20:58

Absolutely not.

The government have had 18 months to get the NHS prepared. If they haven’t done it by now, they ain’t going to ever do it, so why should we go through the farce of locking down to yet again ‘protect’ the NHS’ when they’ve done bugger all?

SickAndTiredAgain · 21/10/2021 21:00

And I know someone who tried to kill herself because the isolation was too much. You want to not only put her back in that situation, but you want to shame her for not wanting to do it as well. How dare you. Support the rules if that’s what you think is right, but while you do that, try having an ounce of compassion for the people for whom it was a hell that they don’t think they could survive again.
chocolateoranges33 · 21/10/2021 21:02

I won't be complying and I don't know anyone who will

LovelyLovelyWarmCoffee · 21/10/2021 21:11

To be honest I hope they’ll bring back WFH, I would be happy to comply!

Seriously, a friend is visiting from Switzerland and she can’t believe we are not asking for Covid passes in restaurants etc and that masks are not mandatory indoors. Also shocked about most people ignoring the TFL rule of wearing masks.
Not sure why the UK is so reluctant to introduce / bring back these simple measures that have a limited cost.

Oh shut up and stop being so sanctimonious and patronising.
